Just bought DVC!!!

Wife and I just got back from a 7 day on the Fantasy and after years of beating around the bush about buying in, we decided to go for it!!! Had $500 rebate and last years points for free at AKL and that was where we wanted to buy. Also they said there is a rate increase comming so we just went for it!!! Just had to come here and shout out my happy feelings!

Congrats and welcome home! I am not sure if you are aware of the resale market but AKV points are selling in the range of 65.00 - 75.00 PP. IF you are not aware of resale please do some reading and research on these boards it can save you a ton of money! BTW you are not getting any bonus points from DVC they are giving you your current years points when you buy in, i.e. if you are going to have a April UY or later (this year) those UY months are in their 2012 UY still. I have a Aug UY and I am currently in my 2012 year of points. I am only pointing this out since I bought BLT direct and was unaware of the resale market - since buying direct we have bought 2 other resorts resale for the fraction of the cost!

I have heard that the cruise ships offer the best incentives! We love DVC- and like you we bought direct as well, for a bunch of reasons it just worked better for us. I am looking for a small add on though through resale so I guess I have now caught the Addonitus bug!!!

Our first DVC home is BCV, and we loved it for many years (location!) but once we bought AKV we were hooked. It's not for everyone, but we absolutely love it. It's our great escape from reality.
