Just bought a pop up!!

It DOES look brand spankin new.....I really wish I had some expendable funds.

I know what she means when she says she hates to see it go. When I was cleaning out my Tailgator when I traded it I started thinking of all the fun times we had in it and the 1st fort trip we did.  whaaaaaaaaaaaaa I want my old camper back lol. Whoever get's it is gonna be lucky.

That's exactly what I'm scared of! LOL I'm planning on selling ours before Christmas 2010 to get a hybrid and I know I'll end up chickening out and not selling it.....just like I have with the conversion van. We've had the new camper van about a year and a half and I still have the conversion van and have finally decided I'm just not going to sell it! :rotfl: 2 vans, 2 cars, an mini motor home, and a popup with 2 drivers in the family....pathetic! :sad2: Well, I guess we'll just add a hybrid to it!

My baby PUP is a 1999! And I love her. :flower3:

Christy, I know just how you feel! I adore our pop up and can't believe I ever thought "I would never have a pop up". I could have had the pup so much sooner and not even got the camper van if I had just tried a pop up sooner!

I know there's quite a few people here on the boards with a pup and they're just as happy as can be with them. I personally like a hard side because of the bathroom. If FW was the only campground we did, I wouldn't mind a pup because the facilities are clean but we go other places and having your own personal bathroom is a big plus especially when we go to a race or something. If I had it to do all over I'd have a hybrid with a deck on front for my 4 wheelers and golf cart. My 5th wheel is comfortable but it's heavy to haul and sucks the fuel down.

Cindy,
I super love your PUP. I even went to ebay last night looking for some "ears" stuff. You have inspired me!! :cheer2:

This thread is going to get me into some trouble. Since yesterday I have been obsessed with looking on-line for pop-ups.

Am I crazy with a family of 5? What about the fact that we've never even been camping with the kids? We do love the outdoors and have done all outdoors vacations, but with a roof and siding! lol

What about towing? Right now we have an Explorer and an Odyssey but who knows how long we'll have the Explorer as it's a company car. We have my dad's truck to borrow (we're borrowing it for the Ft.) but I would like to be able to go away without asking to borrow it all the time.

Is there someplace to look at values, like for cars? I see the Kelly Blue Book doesn't have RVs on-line.

I'm so excited but nervous at the same time. This is going to be a really hard sell to my husband, especially since he's going to look at a boat on Saturday!

the beauty of a pop up is that it can be towed so easily without having to buy a bunch of towing equipment. They are light, and have the most bang for the buck as far as sleeping space goes. Many popups can sleep upto 6 fairly comfortably....they are not something you'd want to spend alot of time in which gives everyone more incentive to be OUTSIDE in the fresh air instead of sitting on a nice comfy couch wathing the tube....a big reason Id prefer a popup vs a nice big camper is my wife would not ever go outside if it was TOO comfy inside. They are also much easier to store in an average garage when not using...and you still get the feeling of "roughing it" at least a little when you are surrounded by the canvas instead of aluminum or fiberglass walls.

Our PUP has one king, one queen, one full and one twin bed. The sleeping arrangements are amazing. Not any "run around" room for a large family. I have camped for a week with 4 adults and 2 children in my PUP. We were very comfortable. Camping is about being outside. Hence the idea of a PUP so that you feel like you are sleeping under the stars!! Good LUCK!

Love all the pup pictures! We've been searching and searching for something good to come along and we can't find anything locally for under $2000. I keep looking though and I'm hopeful we'll get one soon. Ours would be for a family of 5 too. Pulling it with our 99 grand caravan. Sigh.....someday!

I totally agree! I love being able to get up and take a shower in the pop up and having "facilities" in the pup for the middle of the night.

Thanks Christy! I'm sure you will find it a snap to do. None of the stuff I did was permanent so it's real easy to change out. Those Mickey Mouse organizers for the bunk end were the best ebay find. They are perfect for holding all kinds of things, I hope you're able to find a pair!

Popups are really easy to tow and just about anything can tow one. The good thing about getting a cheap little fixer upper is, if you don't like it or you're ready to upgrade, you can pretty much get out every dime you put in. I'm fairly positive I could get the $750 I paid back if I decided to sell. Most Pop ups will sleep at least 5, I don't think you'll have a problem at all!

Don't give up! You may have to drive out of the way for a good deal but you'll know if it's worth it

Some PUPs have bathrooms.....ok, not the best, but they'll do for those late night emergencies and they are wonderful when a campground has a CS that you would never think to bare your tushie in!

Ours looks like a shelf when its folded down, but there is this part that you lift up and snap to the ceiling that makes a wall. Then we have a shower curtain that also snaps to the ceiling.

you can't really see it too well. I never took pictures of my potty before :lmao:

After all of the private, personal times youve spent with it...it SHOULD be in a few family photos!!! ;)

And I thought I was gonna get to see where Ami goes potty. Oh well.

Thats front page news, let me tell you.:sad2:

I'm going to step out of the box here and get back on topic ::yes::

I love my pop-up. Even I can hitch it up and pull it (thats really saying something).

I still feel like I'm camping. I like having the windows open and feeling the breeze. I LOVE the sound of rain on the roof at night. I love kicking my kids outside, too.

I'm a bad person. I use it. I only pay attention to it when I want to. If I have no use for it I completely ignore it. But when I do need it...wow, I feel like I couldn't live without it.

Would it a appreciate a photo every now and then?

WOULD IT BE SO TERRIBLY HARD? Its there for you in you most desperate times of need...and lets face it..sometimes the things you do to it really STINK, but it never complains. It is there for you and handles problem NO ONE ELSE can really help you with....things NO ONE ELSE even wants to know, hear, or even TALK about....would a little appreciation really constipate things....um, I mean complicate things????

Wow Rog. You really have a way to put things in perspective. I'll make it up to it today, clean it up. Make it look real pretty. I may even put some flowers in the bathroom.

There ya go...Dont forget the "hershey drops"!!!
