I just got a Leapster for my 4 year old son for the plane trip. I have it hidden until we are on the plane. I think it will be perfect for him to keep him busy during the flight. (Hopefully the batteries will last through the flight). It's small and lightweight, so it's a good alternative to those thinking about a portable dvd player to entertain the kids while flying.

10 more days! Whoo-hoo!!

I just read about this today. Looks very cool and got rave reviews!! Let me know how you like it...I might be looking at that for a Cmas gift!

I just purchased Leapster for my 3.5 DS for Xmas. It seems to be getting rave reviews. DS would want to play Gameboy like his older sister; however, the Leapster looks similar and is educational.

I think age suggestion is 4-8 so your son would be right in there. I'm trying to decide between the Leapster and the Leap pad for my DD age 4. Need to decide by tomorrow...big sales, you know!

Well, both my DS and DD really like their Leap Pads. It's a lot of fun. I think Leapster is different enough that it's okay to own both toys. Leapster's more of a hand-held game system.

Anyway, if you get the Leap Pad, you might want to consider the new Leap Pad plus writing. It'd be great to have that added feature. I'm not sure if it takes special books or if the books for the original Leap Pad work in it. Does anyone know that? But I think that writing feature gives the toy a lot more longevity and teaching potential.

Has anyone seen the Leapster on sale anywhere? I was hoping someone would have it cheaper for the day after sales, but haven't seen it in any ads.

No, I haven't seen Leapster or its software on sale yet. However, I went ahead and purchased because I believe it is going to be a Hot Item for Christmas. :earseek:

I have seen them go for slightly less on Ebay. I didn't mine there only because I like to have a receipt in case something is wrong with the toy.

I picked this up for my son at TRU a couple weeks ago when they had the free Simba deal going on.

They do have it at Target.com with free shipping. It's not in stock, but says arriving soon. You could always call and find out when it will be in. Also, if you go to www.currentcodes.com, there are some codes you can use to get 10% off $100 (I think), which makes it a good deal if you order a cartridge for 24.99 with it. Also, if you have AOL, at one point they were giving another 10% off when you enter your aol email address (not sure if they still do that. You can add the items to your cart and play around with the promotional codes to see what your total price will be.

Well, we opted for the portable DVD player. Bought it today at Costco for $279.00 less $30.00 coupon discount that you can get at the door. With the DVD all the kids, including mom & dad, can get some use out of it.

Can anyone tell me if this is in stock anywhere? I am looking all over but can't find one.

Thanks. I was looking all over the web for a leapster and couldn't find one. I never thought about just looking at Wal-Mart for one.

My sister spoke to a woman from Leap Frog today and she said that a lot of stores are selling out of the Leapster and won't get any back in until after xmas. I know that Toys R Us has them in stock right now and the woman also said that the portable charger would be exclusively on sale at TRU before the holidays (everyone else will have that after). My WalMart doesn't have them, nor does Target or Kmart, so I think your best bet is to try TRU.
