Just booked SOG with overflow rates for early June

I just booked SOG overflow rates for May 31 to June 10. I had called about two weeks ago and at that time they still had 58 rooms available. Evidently, those rooms are now sold out. I didn't really intend to check again so soon, but something pushed me to do it today (probably my incessant reading of the May/June Codes Watch thread since I was also waiting for an AP rate)!!!

We are splitting our stay. I got:
AKL-Savannah for $194 ($216 with tax)
Poly-GV for $214 ($238 with tax).

If anyone else qualifies for SOG and needs discounted rates for May/June, it may be worth checking into now.

We are going the week of the 4th of July and I thought by now we would be able to get an overflow rate, but still no luck. I did get a decent rate from AAA, better then nothing I guess.

Booked mine last Wednesday, Poly for 214 per night 5/22 to 5/30. Unlike you, I've been checking SOG overflow availability twice a week for a couple of months now LOL.

At that great rate for Poly, we gave up our WL pin code dining package. Bummed about the dining package, but I'm psyched about staying at Poly!

I didn't really intend to check again so soon, but something pushed me to do it today.

I had just checked a few days ago for May 28 - June 5th. The only night they didn't have was May 28th. I still haven't booked through them yet. I asked about CSR and was told Disney wasn't discounting CSR for the night of the 28th for some reason so the whole time was going to be $149 a night. Also checked AKL and was quoted $164 standard view. Is it just me or does this seem higher than previous years?

I think that May availability has affected overflow rates. I asked for quotes for Poly, CR, and WL, and they didn't have any rates for CR or WL.

When I called to book a room at SOG for the week before Easter (our spring break) they were full so I asked to overflow into AKL. We got a Savannah view for $214.00 a night. I booked our room about 2 months ago. Infact this is our 4 time down to WDW in 10 years and we have only stayed at SOG once. Once we overflowed into Dixie Landings and then the renovation of SOG we went to the Contemporary which was great and now this time we are going to AKL.

SOG is the military resort at Disney. Its for Military, retired military and I believe Department of defense.

SOG= Shades of Green

Shades of Green is an Armed Forces Recreation Center (AFRC) - available to certain eligible members of the U.S. Armed Forces community, their families, and certain civilians in the DOD and elsewhere.

It is the old Disney Golf Resort (I think) which is located across from the Polynesian.

It was also originally the Disney Inn. And DOD civilians do qualify. DH is a DOD civilian at the AFB here in Oklahoma.

We have never stayed there either. I have stayed on overflow rates at CSR twice. Our other trips have been on points through DVC. But this summer we are taking lots of family with us (24) and will need 7 rooms total. I am hoping to either get AP rates or book some of the rooms with Shades overflow rates. Just don't have enough points for all the rooms.
