I am so excited! I just booked flights for our April-May trip.:cool1: :cool1: I got four tickets with airmiles so the cost was low. I was able to get the exact flights I wanted. Now to decide where to stay :confused3 . I love making those difficult decisions. :rotfl2:

How much do you Nova Sotians pay to fly to Orlando. I am stressed over the prices here in Toronto so yours must be crazy!

How many airmiles did it take?

The flights I booked today for four to fly from Sydney NS to Orlando is $5700!!:scared1: A bit ridiculous!! We have purchased flights from Halifax for around $500 but not recently. They have been averaging $700 or so and we would still have to drive five hours and usually stay overnight. We were able to get four seats using Airmiles and only had to pay $775 total for taxes and fees. It is a great deal for us, especially since it is from Sydney. No drive at all! :cool1: I wished we lived close enough to fly from the US but it would be a 12 hour drive and that is just too much, especially coming home. But I'm happy today!!

It was 2000 airmiles per person, the same for Sydney as it is for Halifax. :goodvibes

OUCH!!:headache:
I just bought mine too, for April/May, and paid $995 for all six of us...ROUNDTRIP and non-stop!!! That would be out of Buffalo, on Airtran.
I feel for you guys so far away from the border!

We have an early morning departure from Halifax on April 22'nd (direct) with AIRTRANSAT. For the four of us it cost $2189.37

I was checking Air Canada yesterday and flights from Toronto are more than $800 :scared1: I can get tickets through my Avion card but they only cover up to $750 ... which use to be more than enough. I'm hoping there will be a sale soon so I can get things booked.

Avion covers $750 of the ticket and not any of the fees.. so even your total is, say, $850 with all fees and taxes chances are $500-$600 is the actual "ticket" and the rest are the fees and taxes that you'd have to pay for anyways. Still love my Avion card though! :)

That's a great deal! We flew direct last year with Westjet but we still have to go to Halifax. This year we fly from Sydney-Montreal-Orlando which is really great. It is unusual to fly from Sydney without first having to go to Halifax.

Is that a charter flight with limited flexibility in your days? We have found that in the past--you have to go for 7 or 14 days. We tend to like somewhere in between. We've done over 14 days but it is a bit much. This year is 11 nights which is perfect for us.:thumbsup2

I know... I was prepared to pay the taxes. I just didn't expect 1 ticket to cost so much :( I think $850 is what I paid one year for two tickets.

We are going direct in April on a Wednesday for 10 days, We leave erly on a wednesday and and leave orlando at suppertime on a Saturday, gives a day to rest before going back to work. Gives us 10 nights and almost 12 full days. Last year we had our car and were out of the airport by 11 am.

We did the same thing this past March and in April 2007. Westjet had the direct flight on Wednesday and we were checked in by noon. We flew home on the following Saturday (10 nights) but then we had to drive home (5 hours :sad2: ). We didn't get home until the middle of the night (or early morning). This year we can fly from Sydney so we still leave on Wednesday but we can stay until Sunday. We don't leave Orlando until 3 on Sunday and we are home late evening. We live fairly close to the airport so it will be nice to be home in bed so quickly!! :goodvibes
