We don't go until October. Yes, we're doing half-term, right over Halloween. We're pulling the kids out for 3 weeks in November 2014 to do WDW and have a proper American Thanksgiving with my family there and we took a couple of days off for a funeral recently, so it's school every day except illness from now until Nov 2014.

We're booked at SL, in the new Golden Forest rooms.

My husband and I did a trip years and years ago, pre-kids, but we didn't stay on site. This is a whole different kind of thing.

Are reservations for restaurants a must? I have a very picky 5 year old DD and a not so picky and always hungry 7 year old DS. We're wondering if mostly counter service might just meet our needs better anyway. DD's best friend went over Easter and has already warned her some of the food was "terrible". I'm sure it was actually really nice, just not picky British kid friendly.

I think there's supposed to be a Halloween party on Halloween, and that tickets are needed in addition to park entry tickets. Is that right? If so, how does one get these tickets?

Anything else we need to know?

Thanks.

*****I would recommend you do reserve if you want to eat at a table service. Most of them cater well for kids, with the usual nuggets/burgers - but the burgers are thicker than a Donald type burger and for someone who has never had one before, can be monstrous in size! My DD doesn't like Burger King for the same reason! But counter service are ok and some brilliant value. Backlot in the Studios does a great mix and match deal for children and I'm sure you'll find something in there. Cafe Mickey has a good choice (table service) and Annettes do a great take-out service too******

*****The Halloween tickets are separate and tickets needed. They count as entrance tickets as the park is closed early to non attendees of the "party" and those guests are asked to leave. You can order them straight from Disney, but I don't think they are on sale yet - we are also there that week and attending the party, see you there!****

You can dress up for the Halloween party - adults too! You can't wear a dress on the scale of the Princesses but you CAN go as a zombie version! Loads make the effort and my DD will be doing so. I'm gonna try too :-) Can't convince my Pirate to dress up though!

Thanks.

I put my answers between stars ******* for you :-)

Thank you!

My daughter is crazy picky and literally ate almost nothing besides peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwiches when we did WDW last summer. She doesn't like their nuggets, doesn't eat burgers or pizza ever and will only eat pasta with a cheese sauce. I guess I'll have a hunt for menus and see what she might consider eating and make a few reservations.

I'll keep an eye out for the Halloween tickets then. See you there!

As for costumes, I'm doubting my husband will even consider it, but the kids might go for it. I might as well, if I can think of anything good.

You might already know of it, but if not, then you will probably find DLRPmagic the best place to find restaurant menus :)
