Past 5 years have done a 2 week trip in January for Marathon weekend.
Have dealt with snow, rain, storms, heat waves during those trips.

Decided to put the Premium pass to use and head back to WDW for some vacation time after a crazy summer at work.

This is the first time going during the summer/hurricane season.

Any suggestions, ideas, warnings, experiences that I should keep in mind for the trip.

I am going August 28 to Sept 6th. After 5 years at POP, I am doing a split stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge and Boardwalk Inn.

Have a friend joining for the second half. He is out of the military and in school and in need of a little holiday from life, so taking him on his first trip to the World. LOL

Thanks for any help and ideas.

Make sure you have umbrellas. Don't bother with ponchos, they're hot and sticky and don't do a good job of keeping you dry. Most storms will pass within 2-3 hours, so find indoor rides to enjoy while you wait. Some indoor rides (Space Mountain, Spaceship Earth, ToT) will also close if there is lightning. If you see cast members scurrying to get indoors, FOLLOW THEM; it usually means there's lightning nearby. Storms typically hit between 3-6pm; if one happens to be late, fireworks may get canceled, too. Hurricanes only hit Orlando every few years, on average, and they usually weaken substantially as they cross land; serious hurricanes in the Orlando area are rare.

Thank you for the umbrella tip...I will be down at WDW during Labor Day week also.

We will be there at that time too. Visiting from the UK and our first trip to Orlando and anything Disney. It will be a whole new experience for all of us. Hope you all have a good time.

Umbrella tip is a HUGE help. never woulda brought one. It is a badge of honor in Portland to not use one, so i guesss I need to go shopping.

Awesome to see everyone going over labor day!

Biloo, My crush  lives over in Highbury in the Arsenal Stadium they turned into flats. if you have any extra luggage room, feel free to swing by and put him in your suitcase to bring me a surprise. :dance3:

Safe travels everyone. Anyone doing anything cool while in town?

Although i'd be happy to squeeze your "crush" into my suitcase, unfortunately, I'm not sure he would make it through the tightened security checks this end :-(

Sounds like you have a fun packed holiday planned I'm still finalising some plans this end. Despite having months to plan I've left it all to the last minute but hoping to have it all done this weekend. Although, we will be heading to Universal, Seaworld, Discovery Cove and have a MNSSHP booked.

Hope you have a great time and don't work too hard!

That's great Renthead! Enjoy the moment and remember....Vini Vidi Visa!! You came, you saw...you shopped! :-)

there will definitely be shopping Jinxy! i work for Nike so we are going to hit the amazing factory stores we have in orlando.

And Biloo, no need to stress on the luggage, my crush just bought an annual pass and a plane ticket and is coming down from the 30th to the 6th.

I'll have to get him on the boards as there seems to be a british invasion going on here (No complaints from me :rotfl2: )
