Well, I just booked HRH for our family on June 24-26. The party will be me, DH, DS7, DS6, and DS2. I have just a few questions:

1. Can FOTL be used more than once? For example, ride Spiderman with FOTL and then come back and ride it again using FOTL. Is is only good for each ride once per day?

2. I need some recommendations on where we should eat. I have the dining phone number, just not sure where I should make priority seating.

Any help is greatly appreciated. This is our first trip to UO and IOA. I am a planning freak so I can use any and all advice. Bring it on.

TIA.

FOTL is good from the moment you check in to the close of the park the day you check out. the beauty of it is that you can ride as much as you want on any ride where FOTL can be used. i believe there are only a few in each park that doesn't have this priviledge. sorry, i can't think of them off the top of my head but go ahead and ride as much as you want. when we rode the roller coasters, my niece made me ride them several....and I DO MEAN SEVERAL times back to back until the ride attendant told me i was turning too green :rotfl:

as for where to eat, we didn't experiment with eating at the parks really. at citywalk we ate at hard rock cafe and the kids loved how the waiters got up on top of the chairs and bar and sang and dance every now and then. i loved watching videos from some of my favorite movies like grease!

Pteradon Flyers at IOA does not have FOTL. Most othere attractions do---including the shows.
Eat at Mythos is IOA. Great food and atmosphere. In US, we like eating at Lombard's Landing. These are both "sit down" restaurants.

fotl is supposedly to be used once till 3:00 p.m.for each ride then unlimited but it is rarely enforced if ever .We were sorta got read the rules once at Hulk and then they waved us on anyway. It was our 5th ride of the day though :confused3

Well, if you're a planning freak, FOTL may not be the way to go for you. You don't need a "tour plan"--just go to the parks and ride the rides you want, pretty much when you want. With your HRH key, you will already get PS at many of the restaurants--so no need to decide today where and what time you want to eat a month from now.

See what I mean? FOTL, the planning freak's nemesis.

BTW--what type of room do you have reserved at HRH? If you have a pool view (standard) I recommend room 6090. Great view not only of the pool, but the parks as well.

I have to agree about the view. We were in room 6094, close enough to the elevators and far enough from the ice machine.

This is only true during certain busy times of the year, like in the summer. It was only implimented for a month last summer. The rest of the year, there are no restrictions at all.

We'll be at HRH about the same time - checking in June 25 and checking out June 27. Then 5 nights at BWV. While I love to plan, I actually have NOTHING planned for IOA and US, I'm counting on FOTL.

Oh, I am very excited now. NO PLANNING!!! Wait a minute, what am I going to do with all of this free time? :teeth:

We are booked in a Deluxe Queen room. So, no idea where those are located. Thanks for the advice on room requests. Can I bring float rings and other pool toys to the pools at HRH? If not, can I bring small pails and shovels, that sort of thing? Thanks

nancij--hope you recognized that I was joking with you. The only flaw in your plan that I see is that you are doing Universal first. Many people enjoy the unharried, unstructured pace of UO after a week at Disney with the lines and the crowds, etc. I know the big Disney fans say they are saving "the best for last", but many reverse the visits when they return.

In any event, I am sure you will have a blast. Post here again if you have any other questions.

We are DVC members and the weekend points are much higher than the weekday points, so we decided to go to Universal for the weekend and get more nights out of our DVC points. Personally, I'm not really sure I am going to love Universal - last time I was there was quite a few years ago and I remember it being very loud. I'm hoping with FOTL I won't mind it so much :) DS8 has been begging to go, so I finally agreed. As for the crowds and lines at WDW, since we go just about every year, we don't feel the need to wait in lines for rides. If a line is too long and we can't get a Fastpass, we just skip it. We always leave the parks after lunch and spend a few hours at the resort pool relaxing. So, our WDW vacations are not really as tiring as they could be if we didn't have DVC.

Glad to hear it, nancyj. BTW, HRH can be pretty loud--though I guess that is implied by the name! Sounds like you will have an awesome trip.

If you get to US or IOA at opening with fotl there is no reason you can't do just about everything but shows by lunch. Our first couple of visits we did the commando thing till we knew what we really liked and now its great .Do start in Marvel Island at IOA early ,Spiderman has always been the longest wait and go for Mummy and MIB at US.Shrek ,while hugely popular has never been any wait at all for us with fotl.Do not miss Terminator if you are used to Disney's 3-d offerings. It and Spiderman are 3-d are the most advanced 3-d rides anywhere, and Spidey is an experience you won't forget.

hardrocker45 - thanks for the great suggestions. I feel like we know how to approach the Disney parks - no real idea on how to approach Universal!
