I'm trusting the DIS folks and booked HoJo's for my family for next week---for their convenience in getting to and from the park while I go to my conference. However, for me...how hard have I made it for myself to get to the Convention Center?

Hi there...

I believe you can walk from Ho Jo down Harbor to Portafino Inn and take a right. The convention center is on the left.

The walk may take you 15 to 20 minutes...
The hard part will be walking *away* from Disneyland.

Hopefully you will get some park time too.

Locals - please jump in and correct me if this is wrong.

Just a little different explanation. It's an easy walk, just down harbor right on Katella(use the sidewalk on the right) and there is a crosswalk across Katella to the convention center.

I hope you have a good Hojo rate. Mention being a DISser for 15% off. But gr8l8g8 is right you may of been better of stayin south of the gates betweet the convention center and the DLR entryway.

You should be able to catch ART bus to DL and then to the Convention Center...

I'm thinking you could always walk along Harbor towards Disneyland on the side of the street closest to Disneyland (cross harbor at the stop lights right at the corner where Hojo's and Mimi's is) then go into the taxi area and grab a taxi. I can't imagine the cost would be very much and it might be quicker than calling a cab right to Hojo's.

I agree ~ I :lovestruc the HoJo but if you didn't get the ent rate maybe you could look elsewhere ~ your family could be just as close to DLR but on the other side and that would put you closer to the C C. We've stayed at the Anaheim Plaze before - it's a decent place for the price and just as close to DLR as HoJo *just the opposite way.

You will be at least a 20 minute to Conference centre, possibly more...

I would be looking at Anaheim Plaza, Candy Cane or Best Value Inn (on Katella). They are more in the middle of the two...

Yes, I agree with Kiwitravel and Disneymomma. You will pass many motels on your way and if it were myself, I'd be asking myself why didn't I stay at one of those???

I don't know your hotel/motel requirements, but Candy Cane is nice and closer to the Convention Center, they also have their own shuttle if you don't want to walk to Disneyland. Portofino is ok too. Never stayed at Anahiem Plaza. I know Hojo's comes highly recommended, but there are many motels in the area that are just fine and not worth the extra walk, to me.

IMO, leave in plenty of time and enjoy the WALK to the convention centre! It isn't THAT far!

It's only one mile to the convention center. I originally had reservations for HoJo's for NAEYC next week, too. I changed to a hotel closer to the convention center, though it will cost twice as much. I liked the idea of the morning walk over to the convention, but I want to make the most of my time in the evening. Staying at HoJo's would have meant either walking around with anything I had collected that day during the workshops or walking all the way back up Harbor to drop stuff off. So, that is something to keep in mind.

Are you going to the CAEYC event Thursday night?

We are a little bit of a jaunt from the Convention Center, however the distance is definitely walkable if you give yourself some time. The ART Shuttle Bus is also an option, but I would recommend emailing our In-House Reservations Team to find out if there is a sponsored shuttle for guests to use during the convention. [This is possible if we were one of the hotels listed for you to choose from recommended by the conference planners.]

I hope this helps and that we get a chance to see you soon! :goodvibes

I love when NAEYC is in Anaheim! We're arriving Saturday, but using DVC points. DH only has 1 presentation so he can hoof it!

Just curious, what is NAEYC? What dates are your convention? We'll be there next week too (Nov 1-6)!:woohoo:

National Association for the Education of Young Children. I believe that registration starts on Wednesday and things wrap up Sunday. Its a fairly large yearly conference - only so many places that can hold it. I think around 20K- 25K people usually attend.

He's (Darrell Meece) Thursday at 12:30 - 1:30..."Supporting young children's developing sense of autonomy through authentic choices: A powerful tool for positive guidance."

He's been writing alot about positive verbal environments lately as well - I think he had an article in the last NAEYC journal along those lines. He's usually pretty entertaining, but I'm a little biased!

I need to tell him I'm drumming up business for him on the Dis :lmao:

I'm not too worried about getting to the CC if i can get a taxi when needed. It was still half the price of most of the convention-sponsored hotels (so even with a few taxi fares I'm better off) and my kids will have more fun. In truth, I only need to walk to one of the hotels with a NAEYC sponsored shuttle. I looked at Candy Cane...but they were more expensive.

Sounds fine ~ you'll really enjoy the HoJo, plan on about $10 per taxi ride.
