We are staying in a one bedroom villa for 4 nights for some R & R. It will just be the 2 of us. We are planning on going to Savannah while we are there are hitting Charleston on the way home. What do we need to know about HH in Nov.? What activities do they have? We are so excited!

Thanks!!!!

November is my favorite month to vacation at Hilton Head. It's our home resort and we just love it there! Our favorite activity to eating. There are lots of great restaurants on the island. Our second favorite activity is shopping - okay my hubby isn't so keen on it but he tolerates me. The two outlets just off the island are great stops for us.

This past May we spent an afternoon Savannah, didn't get a change to eat at Lady and Sons but plan on that for next time. We love to sit on our porch in the rocking chairs and read, soak up the atmosphere and take walks on the beach. The beach house is nice and has games, a snack bar, separate pool and televison. You can rent bikes and swim. It's a very laid back type vacation and that's why we love it so much. Oh, don't forget to play pool in Big Murgy's Den. It shouldn't be too crowded when you go so you'll have lots of pool time to yourselves.

The greatest thing to me about the Hilton Head resort in early November is how quiet it is. We felt we were almost on a secluded island. The cast members just about all knew us by name. Last but not least, check out the delicious chicken finger baskets at the take out window by the gift shop. Yummy! Enjoy your time at Hilton Head!

We've stayed in a 1 BR villa at HH many times. This is our favorite:

It's the view from 1132, the top floor of the main lodge. 16 or the 21 1 BRs are in the main lodge, and we've liked every one we've had. In November, we've only been there over Thanksgiving and all the activities are going on, but we've also been during very slow times and it seems they always offer lots of activities.

Savannah is wonderful!

We took one of the trolley tours. You can stay on it for 1 1/2 hours or get off and on. The tours are about $20 a piece. You can probably figure it out on your own, but I think you get a little more out of it when you have more of the local history. I would suggest taking the tour straight through and then going back through with your car. Over Thanksgiving, parking wasn't bad.

Taking I95 between Savannah and Hilton Head is way out of the way. Take 17 instead. Its 2 laned, but not heavily travelled and very pretty.

In Hilton Head, the beach wasn't crowded in November and very serene. DH and I loved staying in the Big Oak Lodge, playing billiards, and listening to ghost stories by B'lou Crabb. We also loved the dolphin tour and seeing Shadow.

Thanks for all the tips. I am really excited about going to HH. Do you know if we can do Savannah in a day or should we book a night there and in Charleston? I really want to go on some of the ghost tours, carriage rides, etc..

You will be able to see a lot of Savannah in one day, but Charleston is totally different. You will need a couple days, because there is so much to see. You will love Charleston! We did a ghost tour, carriage tour, a lot of good restaurants, etc. Be sure to do your research on the ghost tours because they are all different and often go into different areas.

In HH, if you are interested in very, very good food, the locals go to a place near Coligny Circle called SAGE. It was the best place we have ever been. You will probably need reservations because it is all locals that go there. Absolutely fantastic! (www.thesageroom.com)

Subscribing - DH and I will be there for those same dates celebrating our 14 anniversary!!! The kids are staying at home with their grandmother. Yea!!

Cant beat those 3 places for one vacation

Its great to be able to see Savanah and Charleston during one trip as the are considered sister cities. Both are great but unique. theres nothing like the city squares located throughout Savanah, be sure to do the tour its a bit touristy but well worht it. Its the only way to get a true feeling of the number and variety of squares. Plus you hit all the main spots.

Charleston is much different layout, be absolutley sure to get to "market" which is of course on market st. Its an area with restaurants, shops, and the main area which is an open market. There are also carriage rides starting from here The battery is a different area worth seeing, beautiful old homes right along the waterfront. The college of charleston is a beautiful old school located right downtown a couple blocks from the market. King St is the main retail type shopping area. Also nearby is the fort which is said to have fired the first shots of the civil war, if you are into that type of thing.
