Just booked for February!

2BoysMumDad - good on you - have a brill time - I had a similar trip for my 30th birthday - 3 days at DL Paris all by myself, no kids - it was lovely!!

Annette - I'm getting married in Orlando too this year - snap! Unlike you though, no guests, just bride groom and our 3 kids - we're not really up for the BIIIIIG wedding. Might have a bit of a "do" when we get home again though.

According to the press I read last week, the average cost of a wedding is now £16,000! I'm not suprised that people get married abroad as £16k is way too much money to spend on a single day - even if it is getting married!

We got married 14 years ago and did the whole day for under £600. Friends did the catering and we asked anyone that came to take photos and they gave us a set of the prints as presents. We know others that have spent thousands and split after a couple of years so I reckon our £600 was good value :)

But to get married whilst on holiday, now thats the way to do it!

£16k? yikes!

Our wedding is costing us: $90 for the marriage licence, $200 for the ceremony (we're being married on a boat on a lake in Kissimmee by the cap'n!), £300 for the rings - and probably another £150 or so for 'special' clothes.

that's IT!

And the beauty of getting married on a holiday you were going to take anyway, is there's no need for a separate honeymoon as you're already there :-)

PS AndRu - don't write the World Showcase off - the Troll ride in Norway is a scream! and there's plenty of other nice eye candy, it's not all about shopping :-)

Ware Bears - I live in Cornwall!!! Did you have a good time when you were on holiday![/QUOTE]

Annette, yes, we had such a brilliant time we went back again the following summer!:)

We stayed at Duporth at St Austell but visited lots of places ie. Tintagel, Eden Project, Lizard, St Michaels Mount, Lands End (gotta do that one!)

Although we live in Bournemouth so are only 10 minutes drive from the beach, I much prefer the Cornish beaches, they never seem crowded and are so much more picturesque.

Sorry about the above post, I was trying to quote Annette but must have messed up somewhere because my quote hasn't come up in a nice little green box like everyone else's!!!

Back to the idiots guide!

I live in Newquay so the beaches are always crowded here in the summer, we are hoping to move away from Newquay soon though!!

It has cost us lots less to get married in orlando, I'm guessing about £8000 but if we had the same wedding over here it would be nearly double!

If I was to get married again now (to the same man of course), I would love to do it in Disney. Unfortunately DH is not really a Disney person and I can see him doing it. Would have been nice to renew our vows or something there. Oh well!

you could always renew your vows somewhere else in orlando, we are not married in disney, we are getting married in Celebration hotel which is lovely!

Agree:)
We've been married 17 years next May, and DH has suggested renewing our vows for our silver anniversary at WDW. If we can't afford to do it at Disney, there's lots of other lovely places in Florida! (Mind you, we've got 8 years to save up!LOL)

BTW, we renewed our vows at the Garden Grill last April! Free and great fun, if a touch embarrassing!:)

Elaine

The Celebration hotel sounds great! We were married in August 1987 so it's not too long until our 20th anniversary. Something to think about! :teeth:
