It will be our first time at Ft Wilderness and 1st time camping as a family. We are going to be tent camping for 9 nights in April. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I do have one question for the experts. We wanted to get a screen house to set up a small kitchen and be able to hang out and maybe watch some tv. What happens if it rains?

You will get wet. April is not our rain season and is very nice weather most of the time. Have some plastic and rocks to cover things. Storms if any are over fast.

Thanks for the funny replies.... :lmao: As I said, we are fist time camping as a family so we've never had a screen house before. I've seen pictures here on the boards where people have set up their kitchens etc, and I was just wondering, if it rains, do the items inside of the screen house get wet. Would it be a benefit to buy a screen house with the side walls, or in April, do I really need to worry about that.

If you camp a lot a screen house with sides is a great thing to invest in. Just remember when bad storms and aluminum poles mix it up, the aluminum poles usually lose.

I don't think you'll have a problem with rain-like stated it isn't our rainy season. It may be cool-you never know in April. I suggest you get the EZ-up at Walmart, then get the attaching screen and attaching "wind breaker" I don't know what they call it. We love ours. The "wind breaker" helps with the rain and cold in the cooler months. If it's warm you can open the wind breaker and if it's raining close the wind breaker-and cook.

We've parked our golf cart under it during downpours, eaten under it-hung out under it. The kicker is we also use it for soccer games for shade. It's worth the investment.
Enjoy the Ft. and have a :wizard: time.

I have a First Up EZ up that Wal-Mart sells and they have a screen house you can attach to it, you than have the best of both worlds. Now you have an EZ up and a screenhouse for the future. I have had the First Up for 3 years now and it has been on the beaches of Hatteras every year and we always take it camping. If it rains hard and/or sideways things are going to get wet, but if you bring along the paint sheeting(clear drop cloth), you can use that to cover your stuff that you have in there. It's inexpensive, light and you can toss it when you leave. Have fun!
