After much thought on hotels to stay at, passed on the free-dining promo, almost got a room at AKL for the 'summer sale', I've finally made an agreement to rent points from a DVC member for a 5 night stay at BWV in a studio from 10/1-10/6. I was very close to renting at VWL, but ultimately chose the Boardwalk. Even though I'm paying a premium over $10 a point, it is still a complete bargain compared to Disney who wants $1750+ for this same reservation (plus taxes!! there are no taxes when you rent points.) I'll miss out on daily mousekeeping, but not a big deal when I'm saving over a grand.

My sister lives about 45 minutes from Disney, so while I am going solo, she will be meeting me at the parks a couple days probably (she is a Disney addict like me). I'm staying at her place from 9/28-10/1 and we'll be checking out Halloween Horror Nights over at Universal as well since we've both never seen it. She never complains and is up for anything, so it's always a blast when I go to a park with her. She rarely eats at the sit-downs though, so I'm thinking of treating her... Maybe California Grill or O'Hana? For a previous trip my family and I all stayed with her... but I decided to treat myself a bit (and give her a break!) by staying at a resort for those 5 nights afterwards.

I'm really psyched to be staying at the Boardwalk, too... All the reviews I've read have been very positive, and it's so close to MGM and Epcot. I have never stayed at a Disney resort before, so I think it will be a good time. Tickets are paid for from the last trip, so now all I need is an airline reservation. I'm looking forward to walking down the boardwalk, stopping for some coffee or the bakery... or a late-night walk over to ToT. Maybe Jellyrolls, too, after all I've heard about it here. Any other suggestions from you guys? The countdown has begun. :cool1:

Sounds like you are going to have a great time! You are going to love the BWV! We've sayed here twice with our third trip coming up in December. The location cannot be beat, so convenient to everything.

It's such a pleasure to stroll along the boardwalk in the morning heading to MGM and/or Epcot and again in the evening when we return. My favorite thing to do is to pick up some pastries in the Patissirie in Franch on my way out of EPCOT and stocking them in the fridge for awesome late night snacks on the balcony.

Enjoy yourself!

I agree this is a great choice for a solo trip. My favorite thng to do at boardwalk is people watch. Whether it be the morning or evening. Morning is my favorite the smiles on everyones face on the expectations of the day..makes you wonder what a child is smiling about and what is going thru there little head!!

Plenty of places to walk whether it be MGM or Epcot or right thru Epcot and take the monorail to MK. So many options when you are solo. Opportunities to start conversations with CM's and learn even more about the world.

Have a great time!!

We will be at Boardwalk in 10 days!!! Our first time there and I'm very excited! Hope that it's as good as you are envisioning.
