Ok gang...SSR owner here...Can anyone give me some tips/pointers on Beach Club? Just booked a Studio for May, a getaway for me and jess with no kids.....:cool1: Are there any "must see's" at BC? Pros and cons? Thanks

Beaches and Cream for one of THE best burgers you will ever have! :thumbsup2

The pool is REALLY nice. The sandy bottom is just really unique. As for the rooms okay. Nice walk to Epcot though real easy!

We love grabbing a chair on the beach at night and just soaking in all the stuff going on around us. It can actually be pretty peaceful.

Cape May Buffet is fantastic there. And you will be just a short walk across the boardwalk from Jellyrolls which is a lot of fun at night!

When we stay at BWV (right across the lake from BCV) we do a more Epcot and Studios-centric trip since it's so easy to get to both of those parks either on foot or by boat. It is so nice to be able to walk home after Illuminations.

We enjoy taking a stroll around the lake in the evening. There are things going on on the boardwalk at night -- jugglers, magicians and even a guy peddling a piano bicycle. You can rent a surrey bike and peddle around the walking path around the lake. I second the recommendation for Beaches & Cream -- it's a cute (but small) soda shop type place with burgers and ice cream. I finally had a "No Way Jose" sundae on our last trip... Yum!

The Cape May buffet breakfast is good too. It's a character breakfast with Minnie, Goofy and Chip and Dale dressed in beachwear. The last time we were there it was towards the end of breakfast time and the place had emptied out so the characters spent lots of time at each table. My mom was with us that trip and Goofy spent a lot of time with her, asking her questions by writing on the paper tablecloth with crayons. It was my mom's first character breakfast so she didn't know quite what to make of all the attention she was getting!

ETA: Since you will be there in May, the Flower & Garden festival will be going on in Epcot. It will be beautiful! And there will be "Flower Power" concerts every night.

thanks SO MUCH...We are really looking forward to our getaway at BC!!! now, to surprise Jess with something from the "what are you celebrating" promo....Hmm...off to the disneyflorist.com!!!! :wizard:

Access to EPCOT is wonderful. :cool1: My wife and I ditched the kids and went this past May/June for our anniversary it was wonderful. Epcot was hosting the flower festival, and it was interesting to see everything all decked out. We pretty much walked over to EPCOT every night for the free flower power concerts, and fireworks, and went during the days and enjoyed music in the different countries. The flower power concerts where excellent. We spent the hot part of a lot of the day's at the pool at BCV, it was so nice and peaceful. We enjoyed the character breakfast, and had ice cream from Beaches and Cream.:goodvibes We also enjoyed walking over to the boardwalk, it was very entertaining at times.

It was quite different without the kids, we could do whatever we wanted, but we kept catching ourselves saying how the kids would, and would not enjoy all the different things we where doing. Not to worry, we have a trip planned with the kids for beginning of February.
Enjoy your trip without the kids, you will miss them, but they can go next time.

We too just booked our May 2009 reservation at the BCV. This was my first time using the new booking policy so was a little nervous since I needed a 12 night stay. I got my 7 nights and then called for 5 days to add my one night each. I was successful today! Also booked a second studio for my DD and family mid-stay and got her 7 nights easily too. I was very anxious that this wasn't going to work out as I've already seen several dates for May that a studio is sold out, plus our stay is over Mother's Day weekend too.:cheer2:

My DD10 and I will be going the first week of June and are looking forward to trying out BCV. I hope we have the same luck at 7 months that you had.

(Yes, we already have a res. at SSR just in case).

We own at BCV and we love it. My tips:

-If you need a counter service type place to eat, go to the Dophin. They have a Cafeteria and with your DVC card you get a discount (I think it is 10%).

--If you don't go to the parks one day and just want to relax around the resort you can:
...... rent water mice and you can take them down to Disney Studios area and back (my kids love doing that).
.......rent a bike built for 4-6 at the Boardwalk and ride around the lake.
.......pool hop over to BWV (if you are at BWV you can pool hop to BC, but BC guests and go to their pool).
.......watch Epcot fireworks from the bridge between BC and BW
.......go to the members event at the Atlantic Dance Hall at BW on Wednesdays and get a free hat and snacks.
........walk around the Boardwalk at night to see the street entertainers.

We also usually spend more time at Epcot and the Studios when we stay there. You will love the resort, it is SO beautiful.
Have a great trip!

The discount at Picabu in Dolphin is 20% off food and we enjoyed the food last month.

Oh, that's right! Pretty good discount. It seemed to me that it was pretty reasonable with the discount for Disney food.

I enjoy Chicken Pot Pie and that was on the menu, and it was delicious! Be sure to have the blue membership card. Also, like a dummy, I didn't have cash or CC with me, I forgot that I couldn't use my KTTW card at the Dolphin! It's a good thing my guest had her wallet! :goodvibes We like "Fresh Mediterranean" lots too, but it wasn't opened for lunch in September. I've also used the 20% discount at the ice cream place, but the wait was just incredibly long for the food, and honestly, I do like Beaches and Cream better, much better!

Also, one of these days I would love to use the barbecue grill at the BCV. The dunes area next to the canal is so pretty and the pool is right there. I just never have the time to do all of the things that I want to do at BCV, or any of the DVCs! I need to retire to my DVC!

Is there just the one BBQ grill, or more, and where is it located.

Thanks:)

We are going to be there at the same time.... wow, what a great time to go.... without kids... that's our fav (mom of 4)... it's all about you.

Yachtsman steakhouse is out of this world... get ADR there
Atlantic Dance is great if you like to dance..
Jellyrolls is a hoot! Never get to go due to kids...if you don't like New Orleans, you won't like it.... we love it!
Get some "private" sun time upstairs on the sundeck above the pool rental place... usually just adults up there (unless CM are doing crafts for kids) but they leave... great view of the lake.. good place for fireworks.

Can't stand Cape May Buffett... sorry folks... can't stomach it... I do the Bakery early in the morn over at Boardwalk... a nice walk over especially in May.... Spoodles has a nice breakfast

hot tubs at night at main pool... may find teens there, but nice and romantic.

Beaches and Cream is great...great burgers and rings
and if on the weekend, go over to the Boardwalk and watch the entertainment. You'll have a great time.

ARt the greeter... a must
Flower Power concerts... great
We love the British Invasion band at UK.

Enjoy!

see you there!

There MAY be two, but I only remember seeing one picnic table, but then you can always eat at the tables by the pool, I guess.

As far as location. There's the bridge over the canal, you are on it (your back to the self parking) , and you walk toward the villa pool, and the path goes to the right, past the pool, keep going, you pass the whirlpool, keep going and the dunes area with the picnic table and barbecue grill is on the left.

In just a few weeks, we will have our DGC for the whole day:banana: This is when I just may try to have some grilling time at BCV!!!
