We just booked our trip for Dec 31st at the Holiday rate, and what we assumed 6 nights of value season rates (that have not been released for 2008 yet). The total for our 7nights was quoted at $1,020 for the moment. I know when the rates are actually announced for January there will be adjustments, but right now it is around $140/night for the 1-7th! It is a standard Value room during what is supposed to be the Value season (or what used to be the value season?). Is there any accuracy for the quote, or did they go with the price of the first night and apply that to everynight until the true rate is released?

Just hoping someone can help, or that maybe I am helping someone else.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but the first day of your reservation dictates what your rate will be. Since you are checking in on Dec 31, the last day of the holiday rate, your rate for the entire stay is at the holiday rate, even though the rate changes while you are there.

If you want to get around this you can make two separate reservations, one for Dec 31, the other Jan 1 through 7. It is a bit of a pain, but the only way to work around the rate change.

Ok, that was one of our thoughts, but I considered it a crazy thought. I guess if that can be confirmed we are going to fix our reservations!

I'm pretty sure that is correct. I would call and get a quote with the two different reservations and see what the cost would be.

We are staying at all stars from xmas to 1st week of Jan. Made 2 reservations. Starting Jan 1, my room is $89.00 a night plus tax. Didn't know if I wanted the hassle of checking in again. Was told it would be noted on my reservation to stay in the same room, but still have to re-checkin.

Thanks alot for the responses! I am glad it is something that can be fixed. We are two college kids learning about the world of travel, ha.

rhw: When we would check-out and back in on the 1st, do we need to remove our luggage as well?
I figure we would have to follow policy/procedure. Would it be ok to check- out and back in at basically the same time, and do that around 8am (do an early check-in) and have our bags held? I know when we went last year (we flew in the morning, did early check-in, and hit the parks) they brought our bags to the room after 3pm when our room opened up. Trying to minimalize the hassle.

If you book 2 reservations, when you book the 2nd reservation, have Disney note that you have a continuing stay and that you wish to stay in the same room.

You will have to go down to the front desk to check out on the first reservation and check back in on the 2nd reservation.

I hope this helps

Actually, when we checked out and checked back into POR, we received a message the night before check out that if we called the front desk, we could make arrangements for someone to come to our room to check us out and in again that next morning. We made the call and the CM arrived at about 8 am, was as nice as can be, and within minutes checked us out and back in. It was a pleasant experience. I think the trick was that we had to make these arrangements the night before.

We had a similar situation. We went from a 2 bdrm villa to a 1bdrm villa(added extra days and only 1bdrms left) and thought we had to check out and in again. We did let the front desk know that everything would stay the same for the new ressie(charging,#of people etc.) but overnight under our door we got our check-out info and new keys for the second ressie.:thumbsup2 Never had to do a thing except move the suitcases through the door. We were very pleased with how this was handled.:) We made sure that it was noted on both ressies that we did not want to have to move. HTH
