Staying at The Dolphin.

Anyone care to share any personal tips about this resort and immediate vicinity to a seasoned visitor who knows the ropes, but hasn't stayed right in the heart of the magic before?

Thanks in anticipation - we go on 6th August :goodvibes

Don't know anything about Dolphin but we fly same day, 6th August. Where you going from? There are at least 2 on here flying from Manchester on that day.

Manchester, yes!

Had to abandon VA in favour of Thomas Cook to Sanford for the sake of the late bargain, but hey, whats £1500 between friends?

If anyone wants to say anything about Thomas Cook Airlines or Sanford as well, then all comments appreciated

Great location for traveling to Epcot or DHS :) Also the resorts around there, YC/BC/BWI/Swan offer alot of dining options.

Claire ;)

Never been with Thomas cook. Probably better than Virgin these days.
We are with Delta again this trip.

We've visited and eaten on Boardwalk a few times, but any particular resort restaurants that you'd recommend in the area, a nice breakfast would be good.

Todd English's Blue Zoo at the Dolphin is supposed to be lovely. I am hoping to go in September but have read many good reviews of it on here.

Cape May at the Beach Club does a good buffet breakfast with characters, the dinner is nice as well. For steak try Shula's or the Yachtman Steakhouse.

we have flown to sanford airport the last 2 years running and goin again
this year.

last year i timed from the plane landing to us headin off in hire car was 30 mins:thumbsup2 they really have it organised there.

its a lot less busier than orlando airport so thats probably why

I've read great reviews of Blue Zoo!! And lots of great reviews of the Swan and Dolphin too! The rooms look gorgeous. :) Have a wonderful trip.

spontaneous trips are the best as they're so unexpected.....it's all just gravy...

one time DD and i decided to go and left 2 days later - i think that was 3 years ago when we did that....so much fun.....we didn't care what the crowds were like or the weather or anything....it was just so fun to be there when only a few days before we hadn't known we would...

We ate at the Blue Zoo last year, awesome food, pricey but worth it.
The Flying Fish has improved over recent years, better quality but also better quantity now.
Big River Grill is good, Cape May in the evening is good.
We thought the Yachtsman Steakhouse was a tad pretentious and over-priced.
The Boardwalk Bakery is good for breakfast either on the go or sitting by the lake in the early morning sunshine.
Would be interested to hear if you try any other Swan/Dophin restaurants.

We, too, are going out on the 6th, Gatwick to Tampa via Atlanta on Delta but we won't be going over to the BWV until the Sunday.

We are on Atlanta (ATL) Depart 18:35 to Tampa (TPA) Arrive 20:06

Arrive in Atlanta at 3pm so we have 3 hr 35mins, thought earlier one was a bit of a tight connection so decided to make use of the business lounge.:goodvibes

I'm one of them :cool1:!!!! What time are you flying??? might see you at the airport .. we usually fly into Sanford and have always found it to be great, this year is our first to MCO and I'm slightly worried about the size of it, hope me and my luggage doesn't get lost :lmao: Sanford is so compact and easy to navigate round, I'm sure you'll love it :thumbsup2

Unfortunately we will just miss you. We get into Atlanta at 13:15, leaving on the 15:12 to arrive Tampa at 16:41. Heading down to our house for a couple of days, pick up some relatives at SRQ (Sarasota/Bradenton) on Saturday then over to the BWV on Sunday for five nights.

I am afraid so. We head back to Bradenton on the Friday evening after a late lunch at the Columbia restaurant in Celebration.

I'll have a laptop with me at BWV so I'll keep a check on what else is happening DISwise during that week.
