at BCV for July 26 - Aug 1! :cool1:

We'll be going to VB the week before, and then will head over to Disney for almost a week! I'm really excited, because I've read where BC can sometimes be hard to get depending on the time of year.

For those BCV lovers, what's a "must do" when we're over in that area? To be honest, we've stayed at BWV one time, but we only went into the BC lobby. We've never participated in any activities or eaten over that way, so other than Epcot, I'm not even sure what's over that way.

Thanks for your thoughts, and for sharing your home! :goodvibes

Good for you! Storm along bay has got to be the best pool in the DVC system. August should be the perfect pool use time! We're a family with ages from 3 to 64 and its a hit with all of us.

Taking a family picture at the Ariel Statue is one "must do." We haven't done it but there's a nice picnic table with barbecue grill by a dune area in the back by the villa pool, and it seems like a great place to have a picnic and swim party.

You know, I was dead set on booking a THV on 2/8. DS really wants to stay there. But, DH brought up a good point. We probably will only hit Magic Kingdom, and the rest of the time we'll be at the resort. So, with all of the BW activity and SAB, he thought that would be the best place to stay (and try!). So, I made reservations today! I may try and book THV for next spring break, as we may take along one of DS's friends. We've never done that before, and I think it would be fun for him (he's 13). Since we'll definitely need more space than a 1-BR, that may be the best time to try a TH.

Thanks for the suggestions! I've seen pics of Ariel before, so I'll make sure to hunt that one down (she's my all time favorite! :goodvibes ).

My family won't stay anywhere but the Beach Club:love: , so last June we bought our DVC membership. Ariel's statue is right next to the entrance to the BCV building and is easy to find. Stormalong Bay is an absolute must; it's a mini-water park all in itself, and most of it has a sandy bottom. It sounds strange, but if you are interested in wildlife, last time we were there in July there were large carp nesting in the canal that runs past the bus stop and the BCV. Each individual fish was protecting its nest and I found it very interesting. Try gelato in the Beach Club Marketplace. Meet Art in the lobby - he's the greeter, and wonderful. Eat at the Cape May clambake (we usually try to do that our first night). Have fun and enjoy!:)

Things we do every Beach Club stay -

first morning eat at Cape May Buffet to meet characters (in beach clothes!)

SAB slide and pool in the afternoon

dinners in Epcot - walk in through international gateway and walk home after fireworks (the close proximity is awesome!)

have pizza on the boardwalk one night and see street entertainers, then go back to beach for the movies on the beach

ride the boats to DHS

Have a great time! It is the perfect place to be mid-summer! :cool2:

Thanks for all of the suggestions!!!

Have any of you ever eaten at the Yachtsman's Steakhouse? If so, was it worth the price?

Thanks!

DH, D Adult S, and I are definitely in the minority here on the DIS, but we do not like Yachtsman Steakhouse. We have tried 3 times and been disappointed each time. We will not go back.
The restaurant is beautiful, the service is wonderful, but we just did not like our food. It was too highly seasoned for us. The pull apart onion rolls were to die for though.
When reading dining reviews it is always important to note that people have different tastes. This is a case where we vary from the majority, but I would not go again.
Have a great trip. The BCV are wonderful.

Will be there to, from the 18th -31st in a 2 bedroom. This is our 5th, July in a row there. The Kids will love SAB. Beaches and Cream is right there, and the No Way Jose sundae, is the best! We love the Yachtsman,as the last poster stated, everyone has different tastes. The fillet I had last year melted in your mouth. And we will go again this year. The Clam Bake is always great as well.
And don't forget the movies on the Beach at night. My kids 11dd 15ds love SAB yours will too.

We ate at the Yachtmen's Steakhouse last August on the day we arrived at the BWI. We had the dining plan so it's hard to say if it was worth the price but overall the food and dining experience was good. Since you will be close to Epcot, I would not recommend Tutto Italia. I thought that was overpriced and the food was no better than a Macaroni Grill. We did have breakfast at Cape May and I would say it's comparable to Chef Mickey and a lot easier to get to staying at the BW. As one poster said, it's all about personal preference but if I see a lot of bad reviews or low scores, I tend to stay away.

Try the Captains Grille (I think that is the new name) right there at the Yacht Club. It serves steak, and I hear great things about it. Also, I would go to Flyin Fish on the boardwalk for a 2 TS meal if on the dining plan. It gets top reviews from most members...this one is on my list!
