Surely this is none of my business and I am certain to get flamed by the masses for even asking but what in the world is Dustin doing these days? Before you all start, I know that it is none of my stinking business and I should just keep my nose out of such things but I can't help being curious. Maybe he has landed some amazingly cool Hollywood-type job? Or he might be sweeping up at McD's to get some 'real world' experience while doing some undercover expose on the ever-neglected grease fryers. Whatever - just a bit curious.

He posted something on his Facebook page a few hours ago, something he worked on.
First thing he's posted since leaving the show I think

He's the new Concierge Manager at Old Key West.*

*For the record, this is not serious.
Are you going to do that at the end of every one of your posts going forward? :)

I think this says quite a bit about how much Dustin wishes to share.

I guess thats your answer.
I don't doubt it. But the same as when Shaun left, you cant blame people for being curious, if for no other reason, they miss someone who they listened to every week for however long, it's like losing a friend.
Of course it's up to them to share, but then, I'm not sure anyone was questioning that.

I checked it out, and liked it - thanx for sharing, Jes. And I agree - he gets to share what/if he wants to (like anyone - not just the team, but me, my fellow posters, etc.), but it made me feel good to see he's working on something that makes him happy/interests him, and he's obviously happy, enthused, and good at it. Good for him!!

Liking someone and missing them does mean you are owed an explanation, reason or any further information.

And yes....I thought it was obvious when the OP stated that she knew this was none of her business...but the conversation continues.

My feeling is that if you understand that it is up to the individual to share information about their whereabouts and life choices...and they haven't....why the need for this conversation?

That's really cool. I'm sure the company feels lucky to have such a talented and hard working guy. This seems like a really good fit for him, a good outlet for his creativity. Good for him. I really miss him on the shows (maybe I had a lil bit of a crush? ), but it's understandable. I had a career change myself this year - no one wanted me to leave teaching, but it was something I had to do, needed to do.

I'm up to the 2012 podcasts in my "past podcasts listening" after he has joined and Shaun has just started. It has me really missing both of them. I hope they are both doing well and are very happy and content.

:offtopic: Each time I get to a point where a new team member joins the podcast, I admire the "core" group's ability to just assimilate them into the crew. They just start cracking on them and treating them like they've always been there. I like that about them. Just another reason to love the DisUnplugged crew! :grouphug: :disrocks:

Well, maybe think of this type of thread as the online version of a get together with friends ans one friend says to the others, "hey, remember old so-and-so? what's he up to these days anyhow? Haven't heard from him in a coon's age." (Ok, that's what that conversation would sound like out here in the country where I live - and I have no idea what or how long a coon's age is, so don't ask)

There's no real expectation that anyone really knows...it's just an openly expressed curiosity about said so-and-so. Generally followed by reminiscences and heartfelt well wishes for so-and-so. I think that's really all there is to it. Just a virtual front porch, and something to talk about. :chat: :listen:

You know, a while ago I went back and read threads about Shaun leaving because I had been skipping around listening to old podcasts and I got confused because he was there and then I realized he wasn't...so out of curiosity I was trying to figure out when and how that happened. It's just a natural reaction. I agree some people on the threads I found were over the top (and maybe others had been deleted?) But I don't think that's what's going on here. We are just fangirls (er, and boys) that are chatting about whether or not our Dustin and Shauny-poo are doing well. No expectations. I don't think anyone has the maps with sightings pinned and triangulation marked in red, newspaper clippings and pictures taped to their walls or anything...right people?? Um, I hope not anyway.

PS we miss you too when we don't see you often enough on the show. We can't help it! We just love ya :lovestruc (and John too and so forth and so on)

I understand and certainly don't think this is malicious or nefarious.

I do however believe that if someone wants to share info...they will.

The fact that it hasn't been shared...says something.

While I understand the PPs curiosity and affection (many of the posters are my very good friends on the Boards) I'm inclined to understand DisneyKevin's posts and would simply put that once someone leaves the DIS, they leave the DIS. I don't mean to sound abrupt about that, but unless a person wishes to continue a dialogue privately on social media like Facebook or Twitter, it is very possible that a new job, new career path and new future make it likely that they just can't have that carry-over. Perhaps its my age (over 45yrs) that makes it easier to understand, but sometimes a life change/career change means the same public exposure they had on social media in a previous life/career doesn't mesh so well with the new job or new employer. I understand this may seem weird for people under 30yrs old who grew up with the internet and social media as just being part of who they are personally and professionally. However, this may not shake down in real life for everyone who embarks on a new life and completely different job. There is an old saying that all of us get to re-invent ourselves thrice in a lifetime. If we want to. I figure everyone is allowed that opportunity. Only best wishes!

Again, I'm not sure anyone said that they were owed an explaination on Dustin and what he's up to, I agree with SunnyKYLake, it's more of a pondering, because while to the podcast team, we are the listeners, and of course, you know many of your listeners personally, you wouldn't even notice should some of us not be listening anymore (and I mean on a by person basis, not just your numbers being different for downloads etc), but not so for the reverse, we do notice when one isn't there for one reason or another, and human nature means we've gotten attached to you like friends, so therefore, may miss someone and wonder about them.

Oh... you DON'T have maps and triangulation... just me then? Best I mind my business and go back to my newspaper clippings and map pinning.*

*in the words of @KingLlama "I'm kidding!!"

Edit: spelling

Edit2: I've just re-read the thread, other than the OP, no other comment actually asked or wondered about his movements since he left. One well wish and a bunch of jokes about him being undercover for a government agency and moving to Tokyo to cover the parks there.
I just want to be clear, I don't feel that we are owed an update from Dustin, nor have I said so, or anyone else here, and missing someone doesn't mean you're owed an explanation, but again, no one implied it did.
I'm sorry if this thread makes Dustin uncomfortable, but I hope he sees it's coming from a good place and is kind natured, nosy or not.

In none of my posts have I accused you or anyone else of anything.

I have responded to what you have written and I stand behind everything I have posted.

I'm not sure why you feel the need to defend yourself or anything else for that matter.

Again...I have not accused you of anything.

We (the folks on the shows) have all chosen to participate in the Podcast. This was our choice. We are all as open and honest about who we are as possible, however, there are parts of my life that I choose not to share for what ever reason.

Speculating about whats not been shared makes me very, very uncomfortable.

Again....the fact that information has not been shared leads me to believe that others may feel the same.

I've said what I wanted to say, so I'll bow out.

Well said Jes.
Would we like to see him pop into the studio from time to time? Yes, but everyone here has a life (to what degree I can not say) and life moves on. I am enjoying what can only be described as fangirling over Dustin. I can't take it seriously, yet over the years the entire podcast team has become a bit of a family, and we a protective of family. I wish Dustin all the best life can offer, and I am sure he will make the most of the chances he gets. There is little more to say, except once the Freedom of Information act kicks in I will love to read about his James Bond style adventures.

Edit: this thread is a tribute to our love of Dustin and his work for the Dis. Do this Irish wake style. Besides, if I ever were to stalk someone from a podcast, it would be Craig. Well maybe JL, but mostly Craig since I need a new drinking buddy. I should go make a fangirl thread about Craig.

Edit #2 I'm joking in my last edit. My sense of humor doesn't work well on these interwebs.

Edit #3 Speculating about whats not been shared is how we got Bin Ladden. Ask Dustin...I'm sure he has been read in by now (DoD TS4 and all). If it's good enough for the government...
