Cold Stone sounds just like the Marble Slab's we have here. Where you can pick a flavour of ice cream and then pick some things to get mixed in. And then they mix it in on this big marble table. It's so yummy. I love that place! Kind of pricey though, so I try not to go too often.

Hi Andrea. Well I managed to get two gifts done and I am stalled until tomorrow because although all of the people that don't have direct deposit were paid yesterday we aren't getting paid until tomorrow I guess. So Kacy has a cute slate gray belted pea coat and Loren has a 8gb mp3 player I have yet to get Kody anything and the other two still have gifts coming. I wasn't able to get my roast beef yesterday, so I have to get some tomorrow and other food too. I feel like a failure.

Yup, it's the same thing. I usually get cake batter ice cream with a brownie, caramel sauce and maybe something else mixed in or I get a sweet cream ice cream with raspberries, a brownie and caramel sauce. MMMMMM It gets pricey, that's why I thought the gift cards in our stockings would be fun. We went Sunday because we are members of their club (Thanks to Beth!) so we will each get a free ice cream on our birthdays, Jade had hers so we went in to get that.

You aren't a failure, you just have to deal with everyone else out there who's shopping tomorrow. Sorry...I think I'll be out there too tho, Micah said something about wanting to run errands tomorrow. I just want to stay home! lol

Aw, we all have bad shopping days. It's hard when it's so busy and there's so much to do in so little time. You will get it all together in time. I hope that you can make it through all those crowds.

I have sort of the same situation going on. I thought I was going to get paid a day early, just cause tomorrow is Christmas Eve, but I guess it isn't technically a holiday, so we still get paid on Friday. It kind of forces me to leave the rest of my shopping until tomorrow too. Oh well, as soon as I am done work at noon, I will go out and brave the crowds and get it done!

It ought to be really insane tomorrow. And are you ready for this? I am going to the outlet store with the kids tomorrow.

Yeah usually one of the perks of getting direct deposit, is getting paid before the ones that don't. Actually most companies here these days only do direct deposit now, so that it's fair for everyone. I think direct deposit is great.

Normally I think it is the best thing ever. It's just that the paycheck on Thanksgiving didn't get deposited until Thanksgiving day and then now this one. But the one before Veteran's day was in the bank on Wednesday? There is no rhyme or reason.

That is very odd. Usually checks that fall on a holiday go in our banks a day early. Cause the banks aren't open to pay bills (to those who still pay bills at the bank) on the holiday, so they do it early. It just makes sense that way. It's strange that 2 checks now would fall on or that close to the holiday.

I think there is just no rhyme or reason and I am not going to stress over it.

Tomorrow Kody and I are going to Rue21 for a jacket and a few other things. I also am visiting the bicycle shop to get my almost 2 tear old a toddler balance bike and helmet. Kacy wants books, and Loren wants shoes. I think all of my shopping will be in Vacaville then.

I used to have to go finish my shopping the day of our company Christmas party, we had a half day then we did the party so after I ate and socialized a bit I left and finished my shopping. One year our party was on the 23rd, that was crazy! I don't think I've ever gone shopping for gifts on Christmas Eve, sure I've gone out but for groceries or to grab a bite to eat.

I wonder if it's done by company or by the bank? He's with Chase, I am with Travis, when I was working my checks were direct deposited the night before my payday, so if payday was the 15th (I was paid the 1st & 15th) then my $$ was accessible on the 14th at about 7 pm.

I know. It was crazy. We got paid on Thanksgiving. My mom worked for BofA and she told me that the bank was probably swamped and that is why it showed up so late. I just sound it ironic that the bank was in a hurry to put it in before Veteran's day but not Thanksgiving or Christmas Eve.

Oh yeah it will be fun and then I get to bring it all home and wrap it for our celebration. Hence an easy peasy dinner. We are gonna have a deli tray. And refrigerator cookies with peppermint ice cream.

The rest of the year his paycheck is where it is supposed to be when it is supposed to be.

That doesn't seem like very much time in between shifts! That's a lot of work. Is it a full shift tonight too? I assume that because you work a lot of nights, that your store is open 24 hours?

Open as in letting people shop 24/7? No. But we do have staffing around the clock to push product to the floor and to receive shipments. The one shift a week I do overnight is to set our ad before opening on Sunday. But we've got a huge workload of clearance to ticket tomorrow morning before we open (an hour earlier at 7a) so we're going in at midnight. As long as it's 8 hours between shifts and no more than 8 hours in one day we're good.

So not looking forward to it though, lol. I'm trying to figure out when I'm going to sleep!! If I go to sleep now I'll wake up too early, but if I wait I might not actually fall asleep and then I'd be S.O.L.

That's gotta be tough on the body with all the switching around like that. But you're right about the money part.

When I worked at Walmart we had shifts running 24 hours too, but it was mostly people bringing product from the shippments and stocking the shelves. We had department managers do the other stuff during the day. They got it ready to put out the day before, then came in an hour early the day the flyer started (with other deparment members of course) to set it up.

Interesting. Semi like what we do. We still have people push product during the daytime while we're open but not on the scale that they do overnight. And all of the signing and whatnot for the ad is done by me and a couple girls I work with. Gotta take down the old signs and put up the new ones. Oh, so much fun. And repetitive, lol.

I remember putting up the little rollback tags on every item in my department (seasonal). It took a while and so tedious! Plus changing all the end caps to flyer items and pricing those as well.

As for stocking, we would stock here and there during the day. And the trucks would always come at 3 and also at 6 if we got a second one, which was rare cause we were a smaller store. But from about 8pm on, they would start bringing the big skids out onto the floor for the night guys to stock.
