Just got back this weekend- another fantastic holiday! The parks were only busy at weekends and the wait times were not more than 20 mins max during the week, usually only 10 mins in the morning or late afternoon.

Highlight- seeing a one-week-old dolphin at Seaworld! :)

We booked with TCD, flew Brittania (cheapest seats!) and stayed at Bahama Bay, so if anyone has any questions on these, fire away! We also booked a "park and stay" via TCD which wasn't so good- would probably not do this again- seemed to be a lot more hassle than just parking at the airport.

Weather- a bit more rain than we'd expected and had to change our plans a couple of times, but nice and warm most of the time.

One thing I noticed- every restaurant we ate at automatically added on 15% "gratuity" to the bill. I don't mind this as we'd pay it anyway- but had not noticed this on previous trips- in fact I remember always having to work out the 15% ourselves- is this a recent thing or does it depend where you eat?- I don't know what would happen if you had bad service and didn't want to give 15%!

I also noticed that the 192 and I4 were awash with roadworks and seemed busier than ever! However I was brave enough to have my first go at driving in the US and really enjoyed it! :)

You're under no obligation to give em 15%, if you wanted to reduce it to 10% just do so, leave it short and tell them why if needs be. It annoys me when they do this over there, it only happened to us once and I assumed the server thought with us being brits we weren't going to tip - it was at the Hard rock, we've eaten there before and since and never had it automatically added. The fact is we were ready to tip 20% till we got the 15% automatically added, I didn't like it so only gave the 15% and paid the bill to the exact penny.

In our town back home, there is a restaurant that adds 10% service charge automatically. We're usually happy to pay it as we tip at home anyway. On one occasion the service was shocking, the bill came and we paid less the 10%, they brought the bill back to us and explained we'd paid short :rotfl: I took great pleasure in explaining to them that I had infact paid for our food and drink but on this occasion declined to pay 10% for the shocking service received. The waiter then said 'So you're refusing to pay the tip?' I couldn't help but laugh at him - he truly did not deserve a penny.

Glad you had a great time.

How many were there in your group? if there are a few then gratuity is often aded automatically. Very cheeky IMHO if I like the service then I pay, If I dotn then I wont.

Welcome home!

I didn't notice the 15% gratuity in December I must admit. Well I say didn't notice, it wasn't there then :)
