I just returned this morning from a 10 day trip to Florida. Techically I only stayed 2 days on DVC property. But, the accomadations I had in Miami are also an Interval Option so I will talk about that as well.

First stop... The Wyndham Miami Beach. Which is available as a II exchange. For those in the Know this is actually the Old Doral with the Original Starlight room at the top. It is located on the 7400 bock of Collins Ave. I will be honest when I first checked in I was a little disapointed the lobby is great original tile and lighting. That was cool very South Beach. The room was a little dated. Typical old Beach hotel. It was very clean,e bathroom staff was very friendly. The bedding a little dated. No mini fridge etc... Lots of closet space, servicable Bathroom. I was put in a corner room. And when I opened the drapes the dated bedding was forgotten. I had a wall of glass with an unobstructed full ocean view. It was wonderful. beyond all my expectations. The other corner wall was also full glass Looking out over the intercoastal waterway. At night the Cruise ships would come out of Biscayne bay like giant floating cities. The boys just sat in bed and watched the show. We had a terrific time here. Pool area was great. The beach even better. A typical day involved us hitting the beach for an hour or so and then going down to 174 street where a friend was staying and using the beach there. There are not alot of food choices fro children at the Wyndham so we would go down to 174st where they were abundant. After spending a day in the ocean. We would return to the Wyndham where the children would swim in the pool while it was lit Art Deco style( Purple, blue and green Lights in the water. )All in all I was sorry to leave the property. If you are expecting service or accomadations up to DVC par you will be disapointed. However for a great Beach vacation with the kids this was a good choice. I will return to this property over my childrens April school vacation this year.
::yes::
Part II Disneys Vero Beach resort. This started off badly. 2 parties were arriving same day around the same time. Both of us called numerous times and were given bad directions each and every time. By the time we arrived it was ugly pouring rain and many cranky children. We were traveling with 7 total. 2 17 year olds, 1 ten year old. 7 year old twin girls, and 4 year old twin boys. I had a great room 2229. That was very strange it had an enormous hallway the size of a room attached to it. My friend had 2230 the connecting. This proved to work out great all the little ones were in both and going back and forth. At night after all the kids were in bed we had an adults only dinner in the hall area. I loved the room the view was great. The bad. It was raining and there were quite a few obnoxious people there. One man who every time you saw him he was loudly telling his 3 year old he was going to put him in the HUMMMER. Not the car the HUMMER. I swear he said it a 100 times. My god he was a jerk. Really who cares if you have a hummer? I met a very nice man in the hot tub and had a nice conversation about these boards. He is a lurker not a poster. We disscussed a few things like renting out high profile weeks etc... he was very nice.
The Pirate ship was great the kids LOVED IT!!! could have stayed all day on it. 2 of the older kids spent most of the day on the slide. The other 3 little ones were on the ship. The bad now.... It was almost too crowded to be enjoyable. I got stung twice, once on the elbow, and 20 minutes later on the foot. Not a good thing for me. I am still alive so It wasn't yellow jackets. Not sure what it was? We saw the infamous snakes. I was walking into the pool area. Me and all 5 of the small kids. And it came out from the fence where you put your key into. Just before the key section of the fence. It was at least 4 feet long and black. I will tell you I am not fond of snakes and it did not give me the warm fuzzies.
All in all the property was wonderful and perhaps I did not give it enough of a chance. But I will tell you that the choice to got to Vero or Miami Beach next April was put to all 7 kids and all chose Miami Beach.
Next stop... was The Hard Rock Hotel for 5 nights. I will post about that on the Universal trip reports Boards!

I just wanted to ask you if when you were in Miami, did you by any chance use a transportation service? I am going on a cruise next year and I need transfers. I have never been there and do not know who to ask. I actually did post this question on the transportation board, but I did not get any responses.

If possible I would like to be transfered by van not hummer. :rotfl: SORRY, I could not resist!

Thanks for taking the time to post about your trip.

Just curious about all the hyperlinks in your message -- they seem to go to an advertisement.

Thanks for the report but I have to ask what's the deal with all of the search links in what you have written?

Kind of an unusual punishment, to put a child in the Hummer. Amazing people in the world. That's for sure.

I have no idea why the hyper links are in there. I can not see them on my screen?

No, I did not use any transportation. And I know where to get a Hummer.

That's funny that they don't show on your screen. There are about 19-20 words that are in blue that turn to bold when I click on them. If you want to give it a try -- Florida and property in the first paragraph are links.

Thanks for the great trip report. Sorry for the not so great people you ran into though:(

I will take a trip over to Hard Rock report too::yes::

Thanks, Lisa:sunny:

You might want to check your PC for spyware and the like, possibly even a virus. Make sure your antivirus software, spyware and adaware software are all up to date and then run them.

If you need more assistance, I'll be in the Hummer.

I am going to run Spyware right now and se what I come up with.
All I ever think of when I run into a jerk like Hummer Guy... is it could be worse you could be marrried to someone like that.
