We just returned from 5 days at WDW and 3 days at Vero Beach. Here's a brief description of where and what we (me, DH, 2DDs) ate.
7/3 - Roaring Forks - Lunch. Was okay, certainly nothing special.
Whispering Canyon - Dinner. By far the worst meal of the trip. DH and I had the skillet dinner. It was really bad. The ribs didn't have any taste, the corn was disgusting, just yech!!. Both kids had the macaroni & cheese. Asked for some more for oldest daughter and the charged me for a second order. Guess I can't blame them, but still annoying.
7/4 - Tusker House - Breakfast. Just some pastries and fruit. Pretty good.
Roaring Forks - Lunch. Again okay, nothing special.
'Ohanas - Dinner. The food was good. For some reason, my oldest DD doesn't like it there, so her mood sort of ruined the atmosphere. Shrimp were delicious as were the chicken wings and wontons.
7/5 - FountainView in Epcot for pastries and fruit. I had the cinnamon/pecan croissant which was fabulous. Kids shared a bagel and cream cheese and fruit. DH had something with chocolate in it.
American Pavillion and Tangerine Cafe - Lunch. Kids got hot dogs from American Pavillion. I had chicken sandwich from Tangerine Cafe and DH had lamb sandwich. Both were good and something different.
Chef Mickey's- Dinner. Best meal of the trip. Kids enjoyed chicken nuggets and macaroni and cheese. DH and I loved the shrimp and the prime rib and parmesan potatoes. Only disappointment was the chocolate mousse cake. Tasted primarily of the gelatin used to thicken the mousse. Was really disappointing. Character interaction was good.
7/6 - Roaring Forks - Breakfast. Youngest DD had cereal - can't mess that up. Oldest had bacon and hashbrowns. DH had egg platter and I had egg sandwich. All okay.
Lunch - kids had a turkey leg at MK while DH and I rode BTMRR and SM. Later we had PS at Cinderalla's castle. DH and I had the Major Domo Pie - fabulous. I think both kids had pasta and butter.
Dinner - Roaring Forks. Again, nothing special.
7/7 - Roaring Forks - Kids had cereal, DH had egg sandwich and I had burrito special. Burrito was the best thing I had at Roaring Forks all week.
Typhoon Lagoon - Lunch. Don't remember which stand we ate from but all had hot dogs and they were good.
1900 Park Fair - Dinner. Food was good. Character interaction was okay - kind of brief except for Prince Charming who was extremely charming!! Decided this really isn't a suitable substitution for Cinderalla's breakfast at the Castle. Just doesn't have the same magic.
7/8 - Whispering Canyon - Breakfast. DH had corned beef hash. I had two eggs over medium with bacon/sausage and hashbrowns. Youngest DD had the fruit plate, or at least the grapes off the fruit plate
and oldest DD had cereal. Was better than the breakfasts at Roaring Forks.
Perkins in Crossroads - Lunch. Stopped here after a few very hot, disappointing hours at SeaWorld. This was very good and a great deal. DH had cheeseburger and shake special. I had Crispy Chicken salad. Oldest DD had Chicken Puff Pastry and youngest DD had chocalate chip "Mickey" shaped pancakes. All of us really enjoyed this.
Dinner (sort of) in the villa at Vero Beach - Youngest DD had bagel and cream cheese. Oldest DD had a can of Chef Boyardee Ravioi and DH and I had chips and dip. Not gourmet, but certainly easy, cheap and relaxing.
7/9 - Breakfast and lunch in the villa. Cereal, sandwiches, etc.
Capt. Hiram's in Sebastian for dinner. This was good. Took the Derby pie back to the villa for dessert and that was fabulous.
7/10 - Breakfast in the villa.
Bleachers - Lunch. This was basic counter service. Good and convenient.
Sonya's - Dinner. Had the seafood buffet. This was a little disappointing. Seemed like most of the items came out of a Sysco box and was not freshly made. After the meal, DH asked me what I would go back for if I had room and I decided nothing was really worth going back for.
7/11 - Shutter's - Breakfast. This was good. I had the frittata, DH had the ham and cheese omelette, youngest DD had the Mickey waffles and oldest DD had cereal.
After breakfast we headed for home.
All in all the food this trip was okay. Except Chef Mickey's, nothing spectacular, but, except for Whispering Canyon, nothing was really horrible either.
Now to start making plans for our November trip.
Let me know if you have any questions.
