Thought this might be helpful for some of you traveling soon...

The express monorail line from the TTC to the MK is going through some refurbishment. I heard one CM say they hoped it would be done sometime in May, but they weren't sure. Basically, one of the tracks is shut down, so the express line can only carry passengers one way. Before 3 p.m., the monorail will take you from the TTC to the MK. After 3 p.m., the monorail will take you from the MK back to the TTC. Thus, if you head to the park in the evening, you will be forced to ride the ferry to get to the MK.

Of course, you can always ride the resort line, but that is making that line very crowded. They are having guests ride that line back to the TTC from the MK before 3 p.m., so those of you staying on the resort line might notice more passengers than usual.

Also, regarding morning EMH - for those of you with a rental car, they are not opening the parking lots as early as I believe they used to. At Epcot, they held us at the gateway until 7:30 a.m., and at AK, until 7:50 a.m.! Because of this, we didn't chance things and rode the bus to MK for the morning EMH.

HTH with your planning!!

Thanks for the info! We were thinking of driving to the parks, but maybe we'll rethink that. :earsboy:

Thanks! We were at the World in the evenings last week and we couldn't figure out why we always had to take the ferry to MK in the evenings.

Hopefully they'll get the repairs done soon, as they are going to need all the transportation they can get once May arrives.

I don't follow this. If the monorail goes from TTC to MK in the morning, what do they do once they get there? Wait until 3 so they can return? If so, they are going to need an awful lot of trains.

You have a very good point. If the monorail can only take people to the MK in the morning. How does it get back to the TTC? :confused3

The monorail runs continuously still. Just during the certain time frames I mentioned above, you can only go one way on the line. At the MK station, there are construction walls around the center of the station on the side (if memory serves) where you would disembark. Since they can't do the double-sided thing, there doesn't appear to be enough capacity in the waiting area to have people waiting for the monorail, and then have people disembark. So, in the a.m., the monorail will drop you off at the TTC, and then return empty to the TTC to pick up the next load of guests. Same thing, but just in the reverse in the evening.

It's not as much of a pain returning from the MK, because they are encouraging everyone to ride the resort line, but it makes things pretty crowded.
