Hi all!! We just returned from Thanksgiving week and our first stay at CBR. I love this resort!!! It is beautiful and perfectly themed. We were in Jamaica building 43, very close to the bus stop and a quaint walk over Parrot Cay to OPR. I was afraid I would be a little disappointed since my last 2 trips were at the Yacht Club and Beach Club but I really enjoyed CBR. While CBR is not as convenient nor as grand as YC/BC, it is quite lovely. We had great bus service to all the parks and DD. Loved having the food court option as well. DH and I don't have kids yet (soon hopefully) but we think we'd prefer CBR with kids for the food court and laid back style of the resort. We'll save the deluxes for adults only trips and maybe when the kids get older, unless we join DVC (but that's a whole other thread). We rented water mice and a surrey bike and loved going down to our beach at night and laying on the hammocks drinking a Banana Cabana and watching the Illuminations fireworks. It was so relaxing!! We got towel animals 2 days from the maids too. This was a first for us!! And I also have to give the manager kudos for handling a baggage problem quickly and with much courtesy to us. Bell services lost one of our bags and I didn't realize it until we unloaded at the airport. I called the hotel and they said they would try and locate the bag and FedEx it to me as soon as possible. I had a message on my cell phone from the manager about 4 hours later saying they had located the bag and would send it out first thing Sat. so I should be receiving it on Monday. He also apologized profusely about the mix up. Great Disney service!! All in all we had a magical trip!!!

Glad you enjoyed your stay at CBR! We have enjoyed our stays there. We will be there again soon for a two week vacation. Can't wait!

That is great about your bag. When we were there in July they found a roll of film we had forgotten. I think it must have rolled under the bed. They returned to us immediately. We were very fortunate as it was a role we had used.

Good luck with adding to your family! Hope to expand ours, too. CBR would be a nice place to go back with a family. The room size is great. I recommend renting a crib from A Baby's Best Friend if you go when they are young. They are fabulous there.

Welcome home and have a Good Holiday!

Thanks for the trip report. Could you do me a favor and post that report in the CBR FAQ thread listed below? Your experience would be helpful for others planning a trip to CBR.

Thanks again. :)

a few weeks ago, and if POP Century wasn't opening up in a few weeks, I would be staying there ALL of the time!;) It is a very quiet and peacful resort.

HI pooh fan in wv. We are neighbors - I live in Parkersburg. We are heading to WDW December 13-20, and are also staying at the CBR. I have never stayed at the CBR and am looking forward to staying at this resort; especially after reading all the positive reports. Could you tell me how much of a walk it was to the food court from Jamaica building 43? It sounds like it would be quieter than staying near the foodcourt, but my mother is traveling with us and has problems with her legs if she does a lot of walking. We are planning on getting a wheelchair in the parks for her if she needs it. Also, did you drive down or fly? We are driving as there is six of us, and it would be quite expensive to fly. According to mapquest it will be about a 14 hour drive (ouch).

Welcome back, and glad you had a great time. :)

We're actually closer neighbors than you think. I haven't changed my profile but we moved back home to Bridgeport this past summer. We flew Usair out of Pittsburgh. Found flights for $195 each nonstop so we jumped at them but that was for only 2 people of course. Six would be quite pricey. You'll have to let us know how the drive is because DH and I are doing the cruise in March/April and we are prepared to drive if the flights don't come down a bit. The walk to the foodcourt was probably 10-12 minutes tops from our room. You may want to request Martinique or Trinidad North with your mother. They are closest to OPR and I don't think they would be especially noisy, particularly if you request a building a little further from the action. Hope you have a magical trip. We did!!!

Just remember that starting in Jan. Martinique and Trinidad North will be preferred locations costing $10 extra nightly.

You might want to rent a wheelchair from one of the off-site rental places for her. That way, you will have it for the parks, your resort and other trips (like DD). CBR is a large resort and is quite spread out.
The WDW resorts do also lend out wheelchairs at no cost for guests. Some people have had good luck with that (ask when you check in). Other people have found the wheelchair that was available was not in good condition or not the best size (like extra-wide when they needed a regular one, or vice versa). If the available wheelchair is not going to work, people have reported everything from an hour or 2 to a day or 2 to get a more suitable one. So, even if you plan to get one from the resort, I'd still take the number along for the outside rental places.
i don't have the rental information on this computer, but if you follow the link in my signature to the disABILITIES Board, you will find posts that have the information.

Thanks pooh fan in wv for the information. :) I have relatives who live in Fairmont, so we pass through Bridgeport quite a bit.:p I will let you know how the driving goes when we get back. We are taking a 3 year old with us, so it could be interesting. :) We have a van with a tv, so I am hoping that will help. :hyper:

Thank you SueM in MN for the advice on renting wheelchairs. I will check out the disabilities board. :)

Hi Pooh Fan and tinawv. I lived in Clarksburg for a few years (many years ago). My dad still lives there and I have other relatives in Phillipi and Elkins. I make it up there a couple of times a year. I now live in TN. Just wanted to say hello.

We took my mother to WDW and stayed at CBR in Jamaica 43 about 2 years ago. Like your mom, my mom has leg trouble. Let me tell you the "Magic" of Disney is amazing. Even though she was up every night with leg cramps, she was the first one up every morning at 7am dressed and ready to go. The walk is not that far, just take your time and enjoy the scenery! I hope to go back in Jan/Feb as we too have gotten the elusive postcard!!!!

Hello Rebecca. It is a small world after all. I have a friend who lives in Phillipi. Take care and have a great day! :)
