I just arrived home from Disneyland. Two families traveling togther, for a total of 11 people.
We stayed at the Park Vue Inn on Harbour. We were at the parks on the 21st, 22nd, and 23rd.
Our meals were counter service, primarily, and take out from two local restaurants near Harbor. We also ate at Goofey's Kitchen on Saturday night.
I'll post more later, but as a quick overview...........
1. Park Vue was nice, very clean, and I would stay there again. Definitely understood about the thin walls the first night, but then never had another issue. Their breakfast was much better than expected. Loved the location when walking back from the parks!!
2. Counter service quality was mediocre to average, and serving sizes were smaller (IMO). We ate at Hungry Bear and the Tomorrowland Terrace place (not sure if that's still the name). We basically ate when the kids got hungry, rather than choosing a location in advance.
3. Takeout food in our hotel was a nice way to have a break and help the budget at the same time.
4. Goofey's Kitchen: food choices much less than I remembered from the past (quantity wise) but I liked everything I tried. Characters were Goofey, Pluto, Chip and Dale, Alice, Pinocchio, the WOlf, and Fairy Godmother. After being there an hour, we had seen 3 characters (of 8). We had to wait an additional 1 1/2 hours (total of 2 1/2 hours) to see all the characters.
5. Im not a souvenir person (neiher is the family we traveled with) but I did pick up a shirt for 14 year old ds.....a pirates type shirt that said "the beatings will continue until morale is improved" Just the kind of humor for a teenager.
6. While there were crowds (and it was quite busy at DL on Saturday!!) we never waited long for a ride. We waited 20-25 minutes for two rides on Saturday (Peter Pan and Autopia), because we had little kids who just HAD to ride and we indulged them. Otherwise, most waits were 5-15 minutes. We utilized fast pass to the max and planned our days well. We were at DL the first day, and the second and third, we did DL at opening, and then moved over to DCA. We were not park commandos, and didn't see and do everything. Quality of our trip (are were having fun, are we not overtired, etc) means more to us than riding everything, staying the entire time the park is open, etc.
We had a great trip!!
