My daughter and I returned last night from 5 nights at WDW - 2 at CSR and 3 at OKW. We were way out in the Ranchos at CSR, so that experience wasn't great. Great time at Epcot, MGM, Osborne Lights, MVMCP (Monday - saw all shows, fireworks, parade, mutilple no-wait rides on Splash, Buzz, Dumbo, Peter Pan, Snow White).

I want to let you know, that although CM Maria at OKW was the most pleasent check-in CM I've ever had, she neglected to mention that studio room 1920 was a smoking room. Instead of schlepping back to check-in to ask to have it changed, we "took one for the team" and stayed in that room (complete with a balcony view of Miller's Rd, and its bus stop). :teeth:

If you caught the bus at Miller's Rd after dark on 12/10-12/12, we were the ones with the red and green lights on the balcony.

I'm sorry you had a smoking room...but apparently it was OK, or are you feeling bad effects now? We've enjoyed the quiet pool by the Miller's Road bus stop, were you close to it, and did you swim?

As I read your report, and I'm glad you had a great time, it amazes me that you rode Dumbo with little/no wait, that is a miracle!

There doesn't seem to be any any adverse affects from staying in that room - the deodorizing worked fairly well. The smokey smell was evident upon return, though, after spending a few hours out of the room. Now that we're home, our belongings have a slightly smokey smell. I don't believe I'll make that compromise again, though. In hindsight, I should have made an effort to check in on Sunday morning (instead we went directly to MGM from CSR).

My daughter swam a little in the quiet pool on Tuesday, but otherwise the weather didn't encourage us to swim (cold on Fri and Sat). We had plans to hang out by the pool on Wed before our flight, but the weather didn't cooperate (cloudy, steady rain - went to MK instead, stayed too long, just made our flight!)

I still struggle with managing my time, while still trying to have a relaxing vacation. The days flew by quickly! My daughter had a cold at the beginning of the trip, so that slowed us down a bit.

Taking one for the team?????????? :confused3

My version of taking one for the team would have been voicing my displeasure with getting a smoking room and insiting they find me a non smoking room equivalent.

My version of "taking one for the team" may have helped a future DVCer from getting stuck with a smoking room.

Your version makes management think it is acceptable. It is NOT.

What I meant was that another DVCer did not have to take that room. Honestly, it really wasn't that big a deal. It was close to the Hospitality House, a bus stop, a pool, and the laundry. I may have requested a different room if we were staying all week, but it was just for a few days, and we were in the parks a good portion of the time.

Hope the room didn't have to much smell, If so I wouldn't have stayed there.

:thumbsup2
I'm glad you were fine with it, and it sounds like you had a great trip. We're packed, and I'm ready to go, but I know at 4:10AM will some too soon! We're not hosting visitors this year, but are meeting friends for 2 days. We're looking forward to getting one of the BWV Christmas trees for our studio. I can't wait to visit the other resorts and see all of the decorations. We're going to meet a Diser for a brief Howdoyoudo at the GF on Tuesday afternoon. If anyone's going to the MVMCP on the 18th, I hope to see you there!

Bobbi :goodvibes
