Just back today from 3 days in Clear Water Beach & 6 nights @ the Dolphin & WDW. The parks were crowded, I mean crowded, we will never go again in June, did I mention the heat? Man, it was bad also! A lot of the rides were 2 hours & no fast passes. We managed, rode a lot of new rides & seen a lot of shows we missed our last trip. Did I mention the rain & thunderstorms? Bad!!!! Of course it only rained when we forgot our ponchos.

I know alot of people have asked about "Gay Days", we went to DTD on Sunday June 8th, we did see A LOT of same sex partners holding hands. I mean I felt like the minority there. My son 12 yo would laugh & my dd 7 would see 2 women holding hands & say "OOOOH". We are not sexist, racist or bigets or what ever you may be thinking but my kids have never been around gay people. We had a great time the whole vacation! We seemed to enjoy the beach a bit more now that my kids are getting older, there didn't seem to be as much "Magic" in there eyes this trip. Feel free to ask any questions!

Did ya like MS? Did it make you nauseous? I think I may pass this up on our next trip later this year.
We were at WDW the 31st-5th and had no crowds except one evening in MK, the only rain we saw too! I guess we got lucky. We also got to the parks at opening and were done by 1 or 2(except that one evening we returned to MK!). We also went to Clearwater this past week. Small world! It was beautiful weather there earlier this week. No rain there either. Did you eat at Leverocks at the beach? Yum...

Hi Dahess... welcome back..

can you explain some more about Mission Space? - I don't have a click (and there are 100 clicks to a clue)

>>^..^<<

I'm bummed. We came back from a 2 week stay yesterday and MS wasn't open while we were there (at least not that we saw). I hope you enjoyed it!

I would personally never do MS again. My 7 dd, 5dd, 12ds & dh loved it. I get sick easily, like on spinny rides like the Tea Cups but thought I would try MS just to say we did it 1st. The CM who was at the front of the line said when he first rode the ride he was sick for 3 days afterwards, now he is only sick for 1 day.

You get in a capsule (supposed to be the Space Shuttle), 4 people to a ride, everyone has a job to do, push buttons at certain times of your ride. You are blasted into space for a job to do & suddenly there is a problem & you have to fly through space & astroid fields & caves & I couldn't watch the rest, had to concentrate on breathing & not throwing up.

You are in a simulator type of thing so it is not a real ride like a rollercoaster or anything. When you get blasted into space my cheeks were flapping, then you are free floating in space & that was the bad part, my stomach was mush. The CM said the "puke factor" was 10.

Thank goodness I did not get sick, I sat down for about 15 minutes & rested. 99% of the people getting off the ride said it was AWESOME! I think it is "OK" for the average person but I have a vision problem & that is a huge factor for me. I have glaucoma & a lazy eye & when I lose my balance & lose my lunch:) I feel that if I did not get sick on the ride anyone can do it. There is fresh air blowing in the rocket the whole time, I just took some deep breaths when I was feeling sick & tried not to think about where I was.

nhmomx2,

Get to the parks early! I mean right at opening or 15 minutes after. We rode tons of rides from opening to 1:00 pm, then went back to the hotel for a break for a couple of hours & then back to the parks. You have to time things right, dh would go & stand in a line, I would run to the next ride to get a fast pass, then after the 2 rides we would get another fast pass & stand in line for another ride. We would wait for a ride if it were 35 minutes or less. You really have to plan things out, that is the major thing, also bring your ponchos where ever you go, we would go to a Character Meal & think we didn't need them, but always did. Buy a Mister Fan before you go to the parks, we really used ours a lot. We would also save empty water bottles & fill them up at the hotel or water fountian & pour over the kids heads.

Have a great time!!!!

That's about what we usually do...go early, leave early, go back later!! My DH has the fastpass down to a science - lol! As for the water mister...my DS bought one last year, I think I'll pack it and bring it. We ALWAYS bring water into the park with us. The price for a bottled water is disgusting

My kids are so Disney spoiled we kind of know what we want to see and what we don't. This is a surprise for them...they still don't know we're going! We're going to let them figure it out on the way to the airport. They think we are going on a day trip to Maine - ha, ha!! They keep asking when we're going back to WDW...little do they know!!!

Have a great day!!

Dahess... Mission Space sounds so cool! I can't wait (I don't get sick on anything - bring it on!)

Does anyone know when it is officially open for good? And where abouts is it?

Thanx

It opens officially for guests on August 15, although the ceremony won't be until October 9. It's between Test Track and Wonders of Life, where Horizons once stood.

Uh oh! Sounds like when I win that Mission Space trip I'm going to have to take lots of dramamine.;)

We rode Mission Space in June 11, thanks to the wonderful CM at Guest Services who gave us a BIG hint when we exchanged our PAP vouchers.

The ride is absolutely AMAZING-to be able to have that sense of weightlessness, experience take-offs and gravitational pull-just awesome! The sensations are intense, but by no means made me anywhere near uncomfortable. I've suffered from vertigo for the past 3 months-so I had some qualms about the ride, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to ride it so far ahead of everyone else. :) I didn't have any queasiness or other ill effects at all-and, to be honest, if I did it would have still been worth it!

The CM in the gift shop told us that the soft opening was set for August 14th.

When we got off the ride there were several cast members who appeared to be supervisors or managers who were very interested in our reactions to the ride-DH and DS age 9, and me of course. DS hates scary stuff, but he could not stop talking about how COOL this ride was. Mom-also a big chicken-agrees! :Pinkbounc

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed - maybe we'll be a lucky family and get to "test drive" it in a few more days :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Keep those fingers crossed! They seem to wait until Future World closes and most people head toward the back to see Illuminations. The night we went, they opened for about an hour-starting at 8. The next night, they opened for a short time between 7 and 8:30. Just keep your eyes open-we'll be keeping our fingers crossed for you too! Have a great vacation!;)

We wanted to ride Mission Space so badly, but it wasn't to be. We were not even able to walk up to the pavilion b/c they were filming commercials all week. Our last day -- June 8 -- we heard they were going to start taking guests that week. Oh well.

Interesting comments about the crowds. This was our fourth early June trip in five years and I thought the crowds were VERY LOW. We thought MK was a bit crowded one of the days we went, and MGM was crowded on June 7. A couple of times I couldn't believe how few people were there. My boys think they are way to cool for Fantasyland, but I dragged them on a couple things when we were moving from Tomorrowland to Frontierland b/c the waits were so short. Of course, we tour mostly mornings and evenings -- only way to do it in the summer.
