Just back - thoughts on dining!

I ate at The Rainforest Cafe in AK back in 2008 and enjoyed it very much. I've also eaten at the one in Disneyland Paris more recently and that was pretty good too. It's a fun place.

We also liked the Rainforest cafe at AK - on the list again for October.

We tried Fuddruckers for first time last trip - agree it was tasty and reasonably priced. My DH managed to eat the 2lb burger - I stuck with a more realistic 1/3 lb.

So sad to hear the Le Cellier was not good. I will be vacationing at Disney World for the first time this year and Le Cellier was going to be a must do for me. Can any of you Disney World veterans give my your opinion of the other restaurants I am considering?

Out of the table service restaurants you mention I have been to 'Ohana for dinner which we thought was fantastic (trying breakfast next trip)
Tepan Edo is another favourite, we really enjoyed our lunch there and the reviews on the boards are really very good
For CS you've picked some great ones
CHH is my absolute fave and DH is a big fan of Flame Tree
Wolfgang Puck Express is excellent and if you are in Downtown Disney don't forget the yummy Earl Of Sandwich
Quick tip for Sunshine Seasons; you collect your food and then line up to pay so if it's busy your food is cold by the time you get to your table (a pet peeve of mine) so grab cold drinks and desserts before getting your hot food and try to check out when the lines are a little shorter

You need to try things for yourself - I loved my fillet as LeCellier last week and server was great! DD childs sirloin was really good too!

Teppan Edo very much depends on the chef at your table - had 2 great chefs bu the last one was really not good.

Ohana gets rave reviews and I got a last minute ADR last year and none of us enjoyed it - we won't be back. Might try breakfast however we love Kona.

Chef Mickeys breakfast has some different items on the buffet but the characters were the mot rushed of the 3 character meals we did last week. It is a classic though so still worth doing

With CS I would depending on when you are going try to hit the air conditioned places - its a nice break.

of them I would say if I was going to think about dropping one it would be Boatrights at POR..its ok but thats it. There are better places to eat. The Riverside food court is fab as you can make your own omlettes, breakfast cereal and pasta so thats good.

But as a PP said you really do need to try for yourselves, because everybody has different tastes and expectations. Other people have loved Boatwrights! We on they other hand only go to the RFC if we are near it, its not on our list of 'must do again'..its ok nothing special...if you took away the theme of it I wonder if people really would think it was fab as we tend to eat a lot with our eyes! Its a fun place to eat and does does decent food but nothing that says WOW to me. But agreed the AK one is better then DTD..

We love Cheesecake Factory,first stumbled on it in Las Vegas and well the portion sizes coupled with tasty food made it a winner with my husband!!
We love RF at DTD and always stop there first night for a meal.
Fuddruckers is also lovely and big burgers!!

I have to slip Raglan Road in here as a must go place...one of THE best meals hands down of our last trip over

Love Cheesecake Factory too and we now go there every trip (another thank you to Wayne for 'enlightening' me to that one ).

Regards Le Cellier, I've not been there for a while now and I've always considered it a little overhyped myself, but overhyped doesn't neccessarily mean bad and it always seemed decent enough when I went for lunch. I think if your heart is set on trying it you should, just manage your expectations - if you walk in the door expecting the best most amazing steak of your life then yes, most anyone would end up disappointed.

That said, I've heard the complaints about the salt a number of times now since the new menu so...

Might give The Cheesecake factory a go this time as well...we hated the one in Vegas recently...it really was the worst place we'd eaten in...found the puddings very artifical tasting...! Only went because I am a fan of The Big Bang Theory and Penny works there

I would think the desserts are all the same, distributed to all the different locations.

Ohana 1st visit by window great, 2nd visit in middle next to the "show" was a nightmare, server trying to do about 10 tables, really bad experience.
Teppan Edo so good we came out and made another reservation for same holiday.
House of Blues enjoyed last visit, booked again for this year
T-Rex (for my kids) paid OOP last time which was expensive, back again this year on DDP.
Boatwright's, never been.
Chef Mickey's (breakfast) we don't eat breakfast but this is the best of then IMO, trying Tusker house this year.
Cape May Cafe (dinner) Didn't enjoy it, DW struggled to find something to eat, people were argueing in the lines, had to line up everytime we wanted food, far too many people for size of buffet.
Quick Service:
Riverside Food Court Both PO food courts are great, we go multiple times, also consider the Mara at AKL, we enjoy that one.
Pecos Bill, I like but get over ruled as DW prefers Harbour House
Sunshine Seasons average, others love it, need to go again.
The Lunching Pad OK for a coffee or soda, not a place to eat IMO(its outdoors). Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe is just 2 mins away, far better.
Columbia Harbour House, DW's fave
Earl of Sandwich Just didn't get it, dry sandwich, no fries only crisps, very limited desserts, drinks available elswhere on DDP they would not let us have. Others think its the best place to eat at DTD.
Wolfgang Puck Express Love it, fave CS in Disney, no way would I pay their prices OOP but great on DDP.
Flame Tree Barbeque, never been don't eat anywhere without indoor seating(DW has bird phobia)

Fully agree, even though we didn't enjoy our last visit you could have the best meal of your trip. You can find good and bad about them all, try them yourself.

Hi there,

I just wanted to say that I only posted this to maybe help others that have, or are thinking about booking the RC at AKL. Obviously my opinions are just that, 'my opinions'. Like they say; "Different strokes for different folks"

At the RC at AK, we found the meal, service and setting great. I was never stating that the food was Cordon Bleau, just really good food in a fun setting, A1 service on both occassions and definately worth considering after a long day in the park. I hope my comments have been helpful to some.

With regards to Le Cellier, I'm glad others too have found the food too salty and it's just not mine and my husband's imagination!! I want to make it clear that the restaurant itself is lovely and relaxing and the service we received from our server - Kyle, was exceptional. The service I referred to 'slipping' was at quite a few other restaurants, but not Le Cellier. Maybe on a different day with a different chef, they may not have salted our food as much and we would have enjoyed it as much as Elise did last week.

I feel that I have good reason to feel that the service in certain parks by certain members of staff have begun to slip.

One day in the Magic Kingdom, we were treated so appallingly (following a fault on Disney's part), by a certain member of staff that his negligence and total reluctance to assist, he knowingly put me and my two DD's aged 5 & 7 unnecessarily at risk, to the extent that Disney management had to hold their hands up and concede their failing by;

1. Being given a full refund on a nights stay in a Savannah room at the AKL.

2. Being given fast passes for ANY ride at any time of the day for our last few days in the parks.

3. Being offered a 2pm check out on departure day.

And...

4. The member of staff facing a disciplinary, having acted against company procedures in the way he treated me and dealt with a situation.

A guest services manager at AKL was fantastic though, extremely apologetic and helpful, he certainly could not be faulted. In general the hotel was great, although saying that, the room hadn't been made up one day, and at Deluxe prices that is certainly something that wouldn't expect!

Anyway, we still didn't let this spoil our trip, after all, better a bad day in Disney than a good day in the office hey??!

Thanks for your concern, to be honest I'd rather not go into detail on a public forum, suffice to say it was all rather upsetting and badly handled and my point was really to draw comparisons of this trip and service levels against previous trips.
