I just returned from a weekend stay at POP. We visited all four parks.

The GOOD- we saw lots of heeley's (PLEASE... dont turn this into another debate on heeleys- beating a dead dog does not change things, the rules are in place and I made sure to watch the kids and the CM's and saw no corrections or conversations with the heeley wearing children or families-) and NO rude kids at any of the parks- most of the Heeley's kids were small kids holding their parents hands ... AND they were happy/not exhausted little kids:angel:

The BETTER- I'm severely asthmatic- cig. smoke sets me off- I watch like crazy to avoid all cigs and smoke from them to try to survive- I only saw 1, yes only one, person smoking outside of the posted spots in all four parks- yeah- no smoke in my baby's face either! A big THANK YOU for being respectful to all of those who care to follow the rules for smoking! :woohoo:

The SCARY- on the way back to the POP Saturday night- the bus lines were long and it was almost midnight- people were tired, sticky/hot, and yes, some were even stinky! and just wanted to get to the resort. The bus driver seemed intent on making sure that we all were as close to each other as possible while not reproducing ;) . The bus was full of all ages of people- we got lucky and had seats in the middle of the bus. The last people to squeeze on were raising their voices to each other- two men - one around 20 years old apparently with his parents, and the other, who was apparently a father, - he was carrying a stroller, standing and speaking to a child - in his mid fourties were fighting -

The younger man said, "I know you weren't talking to me!" The older man says, "I was talking to my wife but if you want me to talk to you I will, do you want me to talk to you right now?, right here on this bus?- I will, I WILL, lets talk".. he was getting very angry, bouncing around very fast and being quite loud- I thought that the bus driver must have some type of protocall to handle an out of control guest but he just ignored the whole situation- I thought the men were going to go to blows any second-

You know how apes look when they defend their territory? -the men stood tall, flexed their muscles, puffed out their chests and tried to look intimidating- :scared1: I kid you not- it would have been funny if I was wasn't so nervous about the situation that I found myself in-

I was sitting just behind the younger man and was concerned that they were going to start shoving any min.- there was no where for me to move to get away from them- not one person on that whole bus said or did anything- and worst of all, the bus driver started to drive the bus and still ignored the ruckus- why didn't he call security and sit there until they came??:confused3

I couldn't let these people fall on my 15 month old DS, whom I was holding on my lap, and who was finally fast asleep after screaming for 20 mins while we waited for the bus- he was probably responsible for bringing the crowd to a fevered pitch of aggitation by the time he feel asleep:laughing: !.

I waited until I felt threatened, thinking at any time that security would pull up to the bus- I assumed ( bad choice, I now know!:scared: ) that the driver had radioed for assistance?? He hadn't!- at least no one was waiting at the resort bus stop......

I was really scared for myself and my DS so I decided I couldn't let this go on if I could help it. I said very loudly and firmley- "Please guys, we're all tired, lets just get to the resort and calm down, OK?!:flower3: Normally, I would never get into the middle of someone elses fight BUT my baby was right in the line of fire- BOTH men looked at me and..... shut up??! I was so relieved- for a second I thought I was going to get an ear full from both of them but they remained gentlemen and restrained themselves the rest of the trip. The worst part about this was that their families were with them and no one even tried to calm then down?? After we got to the resort, several people thanked me for speaking up- I was just thinking, I wonder if anyone would have stood up for me should one of the men got nasty- I hope someone would have- :rolleyes1

If you were one of these men- I wanted to say that I appreciate you regaining your control for the sake of the rest of us-!:groom: If you were a family member of these men- shame on you for letting this go on and making an infant's mother terrified enough to have to speak up to try to defuse the situation.:confused3

GOOD FOR YOU!!! And scary too, but wow...what a "mama bear" moment. I'm so glad that those men chose the right path and just shut their mouths. Nothing like a mom with a vulnerable baby on her lap to make two grown men look like COMPLETE idiots...which is EXACTLY what happened. They were so in their "fighting zone" that they probably forgot that there were all those people around.

You did the right thing, glad it turned out OK.

Way to go Daydreamer!:thumbsup2 Some people just seem to think they are the only ones around.

Off subject.. I have 2 sisters in your area, one in Douglasville and the other in PTC. I'm planning a trip down there for Easter!:goodvibes

:goofy:

It was a "Momma Bear" situation! Normally I would never have opened my mouth but I felt cornered and afraid- people can be hurt pretty bad when they are trapped and others are panicing-

WDW Since 2000- I hate the busses too -

DH usually drives us around WDW but was unable to come with us to the parks because he was busy chaperoning middle schoolers in our DS #1's Orchestra at the All American Music Festivel at Hard Rock Orlando, then he went with them to Universal and Islands.

DS#1 won his school, county, and district levels of the Science Fair- he had interviews for the State Fair on Thursday- at the same time that the orchestra was driving to Orlando so I got to drive him to Orlando all night so he could catch up with the group by 7am the next morning- and you know what they say- "When in Rome, do as the Romans do! " So, I visited WDW with the baby :wizard: -

By the way, It was worth it- DS#1 won 2 first places and a second place at the state levels- there were over 700 kids in the fair at state level ( different catagories ) he was nominated by the Discovery Kids Challange, so he is in the running for a trip to Washington DC next spring in the medicine and health catagory- maybe I've got a doctor or scientist in training- raising kids is so interesting!

luvngoofy - the weather is in the mid 70's beautiful, and it looks wonderful with all of the azaleas, dogwoods and just about every flower known to man in full bloom right now- be sure to bring an antihistimin sp? if you need it- our pollen numbers were in the 5000's range this weekend- if you don't know what that is- it means the the air if full of pollen so much that it covers everything with a yellow blanket and the air is foggy with pollen- hard on allergy sufferers for sure.

Thanks to all of you for the support- when I exited the bus, I was careful to avoid the men and their families- I went into the main lobby and waited for a while like I was waiting to meet up with someone, just in case one of them was still aggrivated about the situation- I didn't want any confrontations with them. I really wondered after I got back to the room if I had made a mistake as the bus driver didn't even react - I guess he sees it all the time- tired people fighting but he wasn't the one in the immediate danger zone :scared: .

Good for you! Sometimes it just takes one brave person to say something sane to disfuse the situation and make the others involved realize how they are behaving. Once you said something, I'm sure it broke the ice a bit and the other passengers would of "had your back" if needed. :thumbsup2

Hmmm...you DO like Heelys but DON'T like smoking, even though both might cause injury/discomfort/inconvenience to others? If you don't want a debate, don't pass judgment on what other may or may not do, calling Heely's GOOD (which I find incredibly annoying/irratating and wish they were outlawed). Funny how we are all experts in others faults and failures...

Good for you for speaking up! You reminded me of one of my all time favorite quotes: "All that is necessary for evil to prevail, is for good men to do nothing"

Daydreamer64....WOW...Good for you...I know I would have done the same thing if I had a baby with me!! Glad it all worked out!

Well, apparently someone has gotten up on the wrong side of the bed today! :rotfl:

I said it was good the the kids were NOT misbehaving causing the Cm's to have to speak to them and it was GOOD that the parents were controlling the children- no where does it say that I like heeleys- that they are good, that I think they should or should not be allowed in the parks nor did I PASS JUDGEMENT-

Apparently I need to simplify the post to allow for a broader level of understanding. I am sorry that you missunderstood the intent of the post and took offense-

you may want to stop a moment, take a big breath- that's right, and reread your post, I'm sure that you didn't mean to be an expert and pass judgement, did you now?

- that's better, we're all calmed down-

When we read something into a post that is not there, and we upset ourselves, it is very bad for the balance of the heart and soul.

Tink has given me some of her happy dust to share
Here you go***** - **OP blows really hard at the computer:hippie: **-

May your higher power grant you peace and harmony with the world---

You may respond , however, I have three kids whom I am busy teaching to have tolerance and respect for fellow humans. :dance3: So, I'm sorry to let you down but I do not have time to debate an issue that means nothing to me- I wanted to share my observations - not start a debate as was written in my OP.:sad2:

With all that pent up passion and energy that jumped off of the screen at me, you might make a difference in the world for all people by using it for peace making, feeding starving people, and finding a home for all of the poor ones, instead of worring about something that is not worth spit after we die. Unless of course, you are a Cm and then I might understand.

As Tigger says- Ta Ta For Now:hug:

Good for you for speaking up! You reminded me of one of my all time favorite quotes: "All that is necessary for evil to prevail, is for good men to do nothing"

I think I like your quote- I'm going to use it in my sigi- thanks!

Well, apparently someone has gotten up on the wrong side of the bed today! :rotfl:

Too true!!!!! Ha! I actually just wanted to see my signature and see how long it was until my next trip. I really didn't take offense. I generally don't let anything on these boards stick with me more than 2 minutes. Good practice - keeps things light...

Honestly, I was in a freaky mood and just jerking your chain. What I did find a bit troubling is that you assume that I am not making a difference in the world for all people, feeding starving people, sheltering the poor, or another good cause. You don't even know me, what I do or do not do. Could be the next star student of the Dalai Lama...point is you just don't know!

Daydreamer -

Great job on speaking up!!! Rock on, girlfriend!

And, that's really cool that the kids were well behaved, even with the heeley's.

Great to someone keeping a level head under tension - your calm approach probably gave the men a way to get out of the conflict without either feeling they were backing down to the other.

They look like tennis shoes but under the heel are little wheels, like roller blade type heels.

The kids lean back onto their heels and lift their toes and glide like you do on roller skates or roller blades.

Where in MO are you? I grew up in St Louis metro.

Leah

Way to go!!! I don't know if I would have had the courage, but that would have been so scary! I was in a similar situation with my first born and I know how powerless it feels...but I am so happy you stood up to those "macho" fools. :woohoo:

Good for you!
Maybe they were afraid of waking sleeping child who might start screaming again.
But then again, they should be afraid of Mama with sleeping child if that child woke up!
