We just got back from 4 nights at the Wilderness Lodge and had a great time. This was my first time staying on property in twenty plus years so all the info from this board helped tremendously. The only element that left a slightly sour taste was the ever present sales push of the DVC. They had a visable presence in every park, every hotel, etc. We unfortunately strayed too close to the DVC stand in the MK and had an all too eager employee start the time share sales pitch. (With that same overly friendly attitude that often accompanies used car dealers and those who wish to share with you the word of God.) While we managed to extricate ourselves before it went too far, it really turned me off on the whole concept. Anyone else feel this way? ... steve c

My daughter and I joked about their omnipresence but didn't find them annoying. Then again we kept our distance.

you dont knw what you are missing:( we will never regret purchasing into DVC.that is definately the best thing we have ever done.we ahve never ever felt like they were trying to hound us.

I guess my main issue was the nature of the sales pitch and the very high visibility of the booths. In any event, my vacation was so good that this really was my only complaint (and a very minor one at that.) ....steve c

who keep giSteve -

I'm surprised...although they are everywhere you mentioned, I have never seem them venture away from their booth. Low key, low pressure is their general way. (My understanding is they are not even on commission). I will say, DVC is the best purchase for soemeone who goes to Disney regularly. I will be in a studio (a little bigger than a regular room w/a refrig and microwave) at Villas at Wilderness Lodge for $84 per night (no tax or anything). It isn't for everyone but they do put it out there for those obssesed like me:p who keep going back.

Glad you enjoyed your trip otherwise.

I agree, they are everywhere! We (DH and I) went to meet with a sales rep, and it had all the feel of a used car dealer. I work in the lending industry and I kept asking questions that had the sales guy totally stumped. He finally said something to the effect of, "you know more about this than you should. I can't sell this to you." Dh looked at me, said, "thank you" (to me), and we left. Oh well... no DVC for us!!!

Mrsltg....to bad you left...DVC is great...my DH is in the Banking industry and while we weren't overly impressed with our DVC salesman...it didn't break the sale...For our family of 6 it has been one of the best investments ever...

I have also walked by the numerous Kiosis and never have been "snagged" by an over zealous salesperson. Sorry it happend to you sjc...but DVC is incredible....

I am glad you enjoyed your trip. While those DVC booths sure are everywhere, I am surprised you were bothered by the guides. I have always had to initiate conversations with them! While DVC is not for everyone, it has been great for us. :)

We were at DTD with the grandkids and having one of those "bad moments", when the DVC guy gave the kids some stickers to cheer them up. It really did and there was not one sales pitch attached. I thought it was very nice.

I also intiated a conversation with the CM. He was so professional, and he asked me if I was interested and once he found out I wasn't not another word was said about DVC.

I was at Epcot and it was a slow day, and he was really good looking, about late 40-50's. He asked where we were from and told us about different Disney Resorts, Epcot etc..

Made my day.

I've never been approached by a DVC sales person either. I called THEM.LOL I'm lovin' every minute of my DVC purchase, especially the part about no bill at checkout time. Now, I just save money for fun! Wooo hooo! Almost HOME! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Ok, as starter of this thread, I'll jump back in. I think the one "bad" example early on in my trip made me a bit wary and also set off my radar for the numerous booths. Basically, I didn't like the "Hey how you doing? Let me take down your name, phone number and home address on this card and get you into our sales presentation" pitch when we were wandering through Adventureland. I tend to put my guard down when I am in Disney just because it is such a controlled environment and felt somewhat violated.

That being said, no other DVC employees ever approached me during my stay and I may have just been the victim of an overeager employee. However, from that moment on, I seemed to notice every booth there. There was one between Roaring Fork and Whispering Canyon at the Wilderness Lodge where we were staying, then there was the one next in Tony's in the MK etc. etc. (I think I have mental images of them all now:) )

As I also said, this was a very minor complaint in the scheme of things. The Wilderness Lodge was great for a first stay. They upgraded us to a courtyard view at no charge and honored my request for a king bed. Mousekeeping provided us with several towel animals etc and who knows I may still end up in the DVC one of these days.... .... steve c
