Just back ... some thoughts ...

I just wanted to comment on the changes to the menu in the Land pavillion. I totally agree w/everyone else who's disappointed in it. I enjoyed it so much last year. Now it seems like there's nothing good. If I get to go again next year I will not be eating there. You shouldn't mess with a good thing.

Loved the "stream of thought" style! great report and I am REALLY jealous!!

Please sell me on the DDE card....I'm seeing some really negative responses to it's limitations and it has me skeptical. Would really like to use some sort of dining "discount" this next trip, but so far, remain unmoved. What can you tell me?? :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

Great report...thanks for sharing!

I can't wait to try Soarin' :)

thanks!! We must have had the same server at 50's. We were there a few weeks ago. We sat 25 minutes before he knew we were there and that was only after I grabbed someone and asked where our server was. He kind of flew in and flew out and was a bit of a flake. We were there way too long and probably won't go there again (you know all about first impressions).

Glad you had a great time!

What a great report thanks for sharing...I can hardly wait to try soarin!

Hi all ...

- the DDE card is worth it's weight in gold!!! It paid for itself in 3 meals and is accepted all over the place ... even big meals like CRT and Chef Mickey's ... note that they are now issuing temporary cards which can be obtained only at Epcot guest relations (outside the gates on the right, as you look at the park). We just got our permanent cards in the mail and although we ordered them in late July, they expire late Aug. of '06.

What is DDE card???

I agree with you about Soarin', I did it in California with the hubby and I am looking forward to this weekend when we enter the world with the kids!

After reading your report, I am having a hard time waiting for our trip!
Thanks for your thoughts - especially on Soarin; can't wait to try that! :goodvibes

we were also very very very very disappointed in the changes in the food court in the Land....we used to always eat lunch there whenever we were in epcot....but there's nothing left to eat now....we bought some pre-packaged stuff.....but they took away the baked potatoes....our favorite there....bring em back...

...

Beth,
I miss my baked potatoes too!!!! We just got back and hated the new food court in the Land also. It was so crowded and everybody standing in the same couple of lines to pay!!! :crowded:WE MISS OUR TATERS!!! (yes, I'm from the south) :thewave:

Hi ...
Well, for us, it was a tremendous savings ... for the $50 we payed for the card, we must have saved at least 2 to 3 times that amount for all our major meals. Granted, we were a big group for a while but we also plan on using the card next year as well. The only limitations I can see would be at counter service and carts ... but as far as sit-down restaurants, it is accepted at a wide range of places.
Hope this helps. :)

Hi Larababe_ca ...

The Disney Dining Experience card used to be for Florida residents only but is now available to all annual passholders. For $50 it will get you 20% off just about every (maybe every) sit-down restaurant meal on property. It is good for one year and provided a really big savings for us. :)

we did manage to find a table deep inside one of the seating areas, so it provided a kind of island or quiet within the now constant activity (due to the hordes moving towards Soarin)...
but we were so sad to see the pototoes gone....i even asked the cashier and she said she also missed them..

i actually couldn't find anyplace on property that had them....maybe the Gasparillo still does. We didn't stay at the GF this year so I don't know.
I'm a vegetarian, so there really isn't a whole lot i can eat at WDW anymore. There used to be a lot more (especially back when the MK sleepy hollow was a counter serve vegetarian place)....

anyway....it's really a trivial thing....but it kind of broke our tradition of taters at epcot (and what with ice station cool closed....well)...

but epcot is great despite these few things....we could spend days there and not get bored....
