Boy we got lucky - landed 8/23 when Hurricane Faye left and left today 8/31 when Gustav's outer bands throwing rain into Florida and Hannah right behind!! The weather was very hot and humid. We learned to wear white or light colours and cool-max/air wick type clothing. We were at parks right at openings and left around noon/1pm and swam and rested. Went back to parks for dinner and more rides later. I had a fanny pack and hubby carried a very small knapsac so we didn't load ourselves down. We didn't even carry water as there are plenty of fountains! Also the Secret Clinical Strength Deodorant worked very well
We always wore running shoes into the parks - I couldn't believe the amount of folks in those dollar store flip flops! They were sure sore at the end of the day!!!
We flew out of Buffalo to Tampa and rented a car. We flew a nonstop down on Southwest and a one-stop (Atlanta) on way home with Air Tran. All flights were on time and no real issues. We did have a bit of a surprize with our one large luggage bag on way home. It was ok in weight, but they charged us an extra $29 for being oversized!?? They had measuring tapes out and were measuring every bag! We have never had an issue with this bag and it wasn't over-stuffed. I was really ticked as we had no issue on way down. I think the trick if you're concerned about your luggage stats is to check in at curbside and pay them the $1/bag (which we did on way down!). We stayed one night at All Star Sports and then moved to our timeshare at Orange Lake. We normally stay on site, but had to use up a timeshare and were able to get into Orange Lake which was quite beautiful and very close. I think it was faster to drive to the parks from OL vs waiting for buses back to Disney resorts! I hated to pay the $12/day for parking tho!! We had a diamond CAA pass which I thought was very handy for Epcot and Animal Kingdom, but not so much for other parks.
We ate at Kona, Grand Floridan Cafe, California Grill and Chef de France. All good meals! If you have any questions, let me know. Jo
