I decided to take my girls to Disney for a Halloween party. They are 19, and 16. 80% of our Disney experience has been through my daughters all star cheer team, we go to Disneyland every spring for nationals and disneyworld a month or two after for cheer Worlds. On these trips we have hectic itineraries and are usually in the parks during the day never seeing any parades or fireworks.
I didn’t want to head to Disney over the fall break because I thought the crowds would be ridiculous so we went Tuesday-Friday and my girls missed some school/college. We flew into Long Beach airport and took an Uber to our hotel. We stayed across the street at BWPPI and it was a decent place to stay. My girls are not too picky about food so the free breakfast in the mornings suited them just fine. I am a little more of a foodie and didn’t care for it. The location is fantastic.
We arrived on Tuesday which was the Halloween party (10/23) and we put on our costumes and headed to Disneyland around 3:20. Security lines were not long and they gave us our wristbands at the turnstiles and our trick or treat bags as we entered. We loved all the Halloween decor and we went straight to Pirates. We had the Blue Bayou Halloween dinner at 4:50 and we were seated right away. This was our first time dining there and I knew it was dark inside but I was surprised how dark. We got the rack of lamb, prime rib, and roasted chicken. The rosemary bread was really good. My girls loved their food and my prime rib was a little over done but still pretty good. They brought us our lanyards for priority seating at the parade and 3 huge bags of candy! So much candy which was pretty nice since we had no plans to go through the candy trails that evening. When we were done with dinner the party started and they were really good about checking for wristbands and getting everyone else out of the parks. The weather was absolutely perfect and we started walking onto rides. We didn’t have any interest in meeting characters or treat trails so it was just about the rides for us and we were able to do everything we wanted. We absolutely loved seeing all the creative and cute costumes! We went to the priority seating for the parade and got to sit right on the curb. We were very tired but wanted to see the parade and fireworks for the first time. They were both alright and now that we have seen them we probably won’t watch them again. I was surprised everyone stood for the fireworks.....wouldn’t sitting down be better views for everyone? I wished we had the energy to keep going after the fireworks but we were ready for bed and headed back to the hotel.
The next 2 days we had one park per day passes so we went to California Adventure (in hindsight we should have flipped the parks since we went to the parks that had early entry that day, not the best idea) we were there at rope drop and bought MaxPass. We decided to head to cars land and try the radiator springs racers as we have never bothered with cars land before. We got right on and we fell in love with that ride! How cute is it? Actually all of carsland was so cute and we decided it would look amazing at night so we had to go back to see it with all the lights on. We were able to stack fast passes all day and never had to wait in long lines for anything. Max pass is worth the money and I even set alarms on my phone so we could get one right when we had another opportunity. We love Mexican food and had reservations for Tortilla Joes at 5pm and got right in. I did read the reviews on this place but decided to try it anyway. Unfortunately all the reviews were right and it wasn’t great, especially for the price. But I’m glad we tried it and know not to go back
cars land at night was so fun. There was a ride there where the cars all danced in sync. We couldn’t get over how adorable it was and got in line for it. Soooo cute! We caught some of the parade as we headed back to the hotel and bed.
Thursday we did Disneyland and was there at rope drop. We usually head right to Peter Pan but because of magic morning it was already a 40 min wait. We skipped it and had a great morning at Disney. We bought MaxPass and it was great once again. Even though I waited for fall break to be over it was still very crowded! Since we had never seen Fantasmic before we decided to give it a try on this trip. We did the Hungry Bear package and we all got the salmon. It came with a soda and it was all pretty good. We had no idea what to expect and went to the meeting area at 8pm and filed into our saved places. The ground was a little chilly to sit on and we had some kind of vent blowing on our backs but as more people filled in it got more comfortable. As far as the show goes.....wow! We were so impressed! I don’t know why we waited to long to watch it. One of the highlights of the trip for sure!
The next day Friday we woke up and wanted to hit downtown Disney to buy our suvoniers before heading to the airport. The world of Disney store opened at 8 so we walked over at 7:40ish. The first thing we see is a massive group of people in lines with wristbands. I had no idea what for so we walked to the other side of the store to wait there and I could see I side there was some kind of party going on. Turns out there was about 4 or 5 of the original Mouseketeers in there taking photos and such. I guess it was also the re grand opening of the store too. We bought our souvenirs and went next store to la break bakery and tried that for the first time and it was really good! Lots of first times for us on this short trip! I guess that big line outside the store was to buy a new Funko pop thing. I admire the dedication and love for such things!
Disney, you wowed us again and we had so much fun! We are already planning our next trip! Christmas time 2019 at the Grand. We can’t wait
