Hi Everyone - just back from 8 days at Disney and 2 days at Ron Jon's in Cape Canaveral. At Disney, we stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter and were on the Free Dining Program. Went to all 4 parks and Typhoon Lagoon We drove from Toronto and parked at Buffalo airport. We flew Air Tran direct on outbound and Delta (with connection in Atlanta) on return.
Just a few random thoughts...
- August is way too hot for us. Really slowed us down and puts a dent in your appetite!
- We loved the savings of free dining, but its way too much food. If you are on the plan, make sure to book your really nice dinners early on. By day 3, I was always feeling so full that I couldn't always appreciate the food I was eating!
- glad to get back to my Queen bed - double beds are hard to sleep 2 grown adults!
- its worth the drive to Buffalo for the airfare savings - probably saved $1500 vs Air Canada.
- make sure you call the border wait times phone number enroute to border to check which crossing is faster.
- take the $1.00 ponchos if travelling in summer/fall. We used them about 4 times this trip.
- Yeah for the new O Canada movie....I really want a copy of the Canada, my Canada song - can't get it out of my head!
- ate at Le Cellier (lunch - fantastic), Kona (good), California Grill (fantastic), ESPN (yuk), Donalds Breakfastaurous (mediocre), Chef de France (good), Wolfgang Puk (good).
- 10 year old DD was considered Adult on dining plan - sometimes found it tough to find likeable things on menu, but it was a good experience for her to try more "adult-like" food. She could have ordered off kids menu, but pretty much stuck to adult offerings.
Any questions, just ask! Jo

1. What did you think of Ron Jon's in Cape Canaveral?

2. Do you have the phone number for the border wait times? I didn't know there was such a thing.

Thanks.

I wanted to stay there before our cruise but it I thought it was too many $$. Was it worth it?

We loved Ron Jon's so much that we bought their Time Share last year! Since we are owners, we get to stay on "Club Time", so for the 2 Bedroom Suite, we only paid $80/night. I love their property - pool with small lazy river and slide ; larger pool for swimming; good beach - we swam in ocean - was really warm; smaller kids play room, movie room, arcade, restaurant on site. Their rooms are very spacious and all the kitchen amenities you'd need. Was also helpful to do a couple days laundry in our room prior to going to Disney. I agree it can be pricey if you stay at their rack rates. We went down on a $99 promotion last year for 2 days if we took their timeshare tour...and as you now know, we bought in!

The border wait time number is 1-800-715-6722

Ok, we also just stayed at POFQ for 8 days with free dining. It was our first time at POFQ and I totally loved it, the only exception being that our room was on the third floor and no where near the elevator. In future I would request a ground floor room. We had building 5, directly beside the pool and the food court.

I totally agree about the food. WAY TO MUCH!!!!! We had some great meals with not a single complaint about the quality of the food or the service but after a few days I didn't want any more. I think that if we were to ever do the DDP again we would just have a breakfast and then an early dinner.
