Hi quick report on our 2nd visit to DLRP
went on monday 9 july til thursday 12 july staying at cheyenne, group of 13, (but in my bunch me hubby dd5 and dd18m)

DAY 1
First shame was we didn't get our park passes on the eurostar as we did at xmas so had to hot foot it over to cheyenne and queue for 40mins to pick them up before racing back to disney village where we gathered for lunch, the heavens then opened, but by this point kids were keen as mustard to get in there so off we went, the area was a bit drab but managed to get a great spot on main street to watch the once upon a dream parade (i had to stand under 2 hanging baskets kept bumping my head) was fab, but didn't get the smells that time. Quick tour of the dragons lair then a few piccies before off to get ready for dinner to celebrate nieces 3rd birthday.

Had made reservations for 19.00 at cafe mickey, seated us all (13 of us) straight away upstairs, the restaurant was a bit messy considering how early it was and a shame they have changed the kids menus no more puzzle puddings, a shame for DD, the characters were great though (that is why you eat there after all) and we saw loads and they brought out cake ordered for niece who was dleighted that minnie mouse sang happy birthday to her, makes you want to cry

DAY 2
In to the studios today after the bun fight that was breakfast was a recurring nightmare!, stayed at the santa fe last time and the room seemed bigger, what with a cot in the room no room for anything else, 1st ride was flying carpets always a favourite with the girls and no queue, then off to do tram tours, then watched the moteurs action stunt show, not my cup of tea really but the adults liked it, then in to the backlot express for a basic lunch before heading straight on rock n roller coaster, now i am not a fun of big rides (hated Space mountain) and suitably hated this ride too, goodness to be 16 again where you can enjoy fear! father in law loved this and had fingernail imprints in his hand (bit of a thrill seeker in his 60s!)

Then we qeued for crushs coaster, dd5 loves BTM etc and thought she would love this bless her she qeuued for 75 minutes and didn't like it at all, thankfully we did baby switch (they actually give you a ticket on this ride for baby switch make sure you get it when the 1st person boards) so i could go straight on after, at first couldn't understand why she didn't like it seemed pleasant enough then it got going! and in my opinion not sure anyone under 6 would like it that much, reminded me of RnR , didn't do cars as queue was 75minutes and looked like a mild version on the waltzers.

Off to get ready for dinner at 7 booked for walts, without fail this is the best restaurant at disney, i had the sirloin with bernaise sauce and it was beautiful, once again shame about the childs menu no puzzle or cinderellas slipper, after dinner into park to go on star wars, space mountain (dh not me) orbitron and buzz before watching candelbration at 23.00 seeing tinkerbell and her dust was lovely but kids exhausted at this point so back on the bus

Day 3
Parks seemed alot busier this visit than xmas and because of the late nights didn't get to take advantage of the EMH, today was dds birthday so went on IASW, BTM, star wars, pinochioo, casey jr, the story book boat, snow white, phantom manor (which we missed last time) then off to plaza gardens for a birthday tea bit of a sham really you encourage your children to sit patiently and not shout at characters but everyone else does and you get over looked, they brought out a job lot of cakes at the same time and dd got a small mickey toy, saw mickey, tigger, gepetto, friar tuck, angry king, robing hood, eyeore but after 35 mins daughter wanted to go and watch parade so we left - nice spread though some hot breakfast items were a bonus at 15.30!

Watched the parade and got the beautiful smells this time stayed in the park riding tea cups, merry go round, POTC until 19.00 dinner at Blue Lagoon, seated straight away (10 of us) BUT in the darkest of corners with no lights to see, food was cold, service was pleasant but food just brought out in any order bit of a sham really very disappointed wouldn't eat here again, then back in to the park for star wars (again) and buzz befre going to the sports bar and the village for a bit of shopping

DAY 4
Last day and breakfast was weary today, so busy no bowls/trays/cutlery and this was at 8.30 got in to the park about 11 managed to ride peter pan at last and enjoyed that at some points you can actually believe you are flying howere the ride could do with some oil as it was a bit squeaky, few more turns on IASW, then to fantastia gelatia for ice cream which we were enjoying til some people sat next to us and proceeded to smoke their way through 5 marlborough cigarettes which was gross and we left, to make our way to main street to get a fab spot for the parade, seated right outside walts first we got the visiting norweigian marching band who looked extremly nervouse but were good, then something happened to the parade (anyone know please enlighten me) and it stopped on the bend between castle and main street for 20mins :confused3 so there was a delay thankfully popped in to walts (as we had a table booked for 16.30) who were most obliging and hlepful finally seated at 16.50 whopped back a delicious dinner in record time (such a shame to rush in walts) had a wonderful window seat (first time ever, eaten there 5 times) and saw the character express (for some reason i thought the characters got off but they don't) then raced to try and get some cookies from cable cookie shop but queue too long, made our way (at break neck speed) to catch eurostar home - finally arrived in ashford with a 30min delay as we had to divert fto CDG station for some reason

Overall a busy trip, bit disappointed with the service generally in the park no one rushes and the qeues in the shops/restuarants/take aways were painfully slow, cheyenne a bit of a let down only bonus was we were in sundance block (10) closest to the walkway to the park

Xmas in my opinion is the bext time in DLRP and roll on xmas 2008 when we plan to go back - may even start saving and stay at DLH who knows

Thank you for your short TR. :thumbsup2
Was the new parade on despite the rain? :confused3

Wow, so they did the whole parade even with the two stops where the CM's left the floats and danced on the street? :confused3

in between the floats are charatcters and dancers and every so often (obviously to the bit of the music where it is upbeat) yes they come off the float and dance and jig amongst the street, the ursula sea urchin things were good as they were high on sticks and could reach in to the crowd, mary poppins also danced in front of us and she looked so real - how do they chose which CM to do the job

can i ask why you thought the cheynee was a let down?we are staying there in august for seven nights with our three children what was wrong with the breakfast?any info would be great thanks

Hi , Glad you enyoyed your trip we also are staying at the Cheyenne and was interested to hear what you thought of hotel as you said it was abit of a letdown::confused3 bit worried now

Glad you enjoyed your trip overall, I agree Christmas is the most magical season at DLRP although I do like the longer hours in the summer. :)

I think having done summer season twice and Christmas season twice I would have to choose Christmas- it is just soooo magical.

Wonder why the puzzle is no longer on the desert menus! also cinderella slipper no longer at Walts! :confused3
Disney patisiers (spelling?) please bring back the Slipper and the Puzzle, our mouths are watering for these 2 delights!

with regards to the cheyenne, we had a travel cot as well as a double bed and a set of bunks (which dd5 loved!) and there just seemed to be so little space, no where to put anything ended up having the re jig the furniture as they put the cot between the bed and the window wall, next to the radiator so couldn't get to the bed from one side, last time at the santa fe we had 2 double beds, put the cot in the middle and still plenty of space for pushchair etc

the breakfast might of jyst been as it was so busy, but they ran out or cutlery/bowls/trays you name it just seemed a bit more of a tired place - we were upgraded to cheyenne as part of the package we booked but would of been more than happy with santa fe, as there isn't that much in the walk

we will also need a travel cot as have three children i dont think i woul dbe too bothered as not spending too much time in room, what were the bathrooms like?how long was the walk into the park also sorry for all the questions!was there alot for the children to do at the hotel and sorry last what time is breakfast thanks

hi
the bathroom was fine, a bath with shower over usual reall enough space in the bath for me and dd5 and dd18m!!! lots of lovely hot water to soothe those achey legs needed it! we were in block 10 (sundance) and it was the closest to the river and walk to park so only took 10mins, you have to walk really slow to make it last 20 mins
breakfast was from 7-11 (MIL rang to find end time so can't clarify 100%)
there were a lot of children international mainly, but dd did the pony ride which was 5e up and down which she enjoyed you take the pony off (very trusting!)
any more Qs let me know

thanks for replying with all the good info!
do they provide fresh towels each day?
did you have tea and coffee facilities?
is there a shop in th ehotels for food ie milk for th elittle one?

they did provide fresh towels yes and came in to empty the bins daily (good job with nappies) there were no tea/coffee you could get a kettle for a small deposit but would have to provide your own supplies - probably just as easy to take your own travel kettle
not sure about the shop the trading post didn't have milk but in mcdonalds in the village you can buy milk cartons daily or in most of the restaurants you could order a cup of milk (i used to give them the bottle) but at breakfast there is a milk dispenser to help yourself (i gave the girls a hot chocolate watered down with milk)

Hi:thumbsup2 Can you tell me is there a safe in the room or is it in reception and how much any ideas thanks:banana:

there wasn't one in the room , but there is a desk where you check in where you can get one, didn't see how much though as never really bothered too much, should of done for passports but just hid them
