We just got back from a 4 day quick trip. We ate at three new TS places and two repeats. It was just two of us this trip - me and my girlfriend (Sashafarce).
Wednesday:
We ate at Paradiso 37 at Downtown Disney. We ordered 3 appetizers - steak and chorizo skewers, corn dogs, and mac n cheese bites. The steak skewers were very good, the chorizo ones were ok, the corn dogs were good, and the mac n' cheese bites were ok. For dessert, we shared the churros and sopapillas. These were good but the caramel sauce was a little too cooked so tasted slightly bitter. I am also first generation Cuban-American and have been eating churros my entire life and WDW churros are just not that great in my opinion. The restaurant was also very very loud and the service was good not great. Overall, the food was fine but nothing we would be anxious to repeat.
Thursday:
In a repeat from May, we had a late breakfast at CRT. There was a mix up with our reservation so it took a little bit to get seated but it was resolved. We both had the steak and eggs. We love this breakfast. It was great in May and it was great again now. The service was very attentive. Like in May, it was our favorite meal of the trip.
For dinner, we had Raglan Road. We shared the Dalkey Duo appetizer, we both had the steak and we shared the bread pudding for dessert. The appetizer was good and we loved the way it was presented. The steaks were ok. They were both well cooked but we wished there was more glaze on them as they were a little flavor less. The dessert however was PHENOMENAL. I love bread pudding and this was amazing. It is my favorite dessert in WDW replacing the cream cheese wontons at Yak and Yeti. Like Paradiso this was a very loud restaurant and the service was good not great. While the food would not have me rushing back here, the dessert would. If I am ever in Downtown Disney, I may make an ADR just to have it again it was that good.
Friday:
We had lunch at Yak and Yeti which was a repeat for us from last year. We both had the steak and tempura shrimp and replaced the rice with fried rice. This was as good as last year. The tempura is very good and the flavor on the skirt steak is also great. For dessert we had the cream cheese wontons. These were as good as we remembered. They are wonderful and worth a trip back just to have them. A note on the service here was that, while very attentive, the server was a little hyper to the point that it was odd. They also do not take TiW but do give a 10% discount for AP. We will return here (alternating with Tusker House which is our favorite WDW buffet so far).
For dinner we had reservations at Kouzzina but cancelled to go watch the Olympic Opening Ceremonies. As we were staying off site, we just had to go from TGI Friday’s in hotel room.
Saturday:
We had lunch at Boulangerie Patisserie (ham and cheese sandwich – new for us) and Tangerine Café (chicken wrap – repeat). Both were very good and definitely to be repeated.
For dinner, we had Via Napoli. We shared the large 4 cheese pizza and added sauce on half of it. We each had 3 slices and still had 2 slices left over. I have been to Italy and had pizza in Florence and this was very similar. I also lived in NY for 4 years and have had great NY pizza. The Via Napoli pizza was excellent pizza. It was, as some have mentioned, a little burnt in a few places but we just cut out that little piece of the crust. For dessert, we shared the Zeppole and this was very good, light and the dipping sauces were excellent. The service here was outstanding. Definitely a must do again.
Next trip is in September and on the Deluxe Dining Plan with all new restaurants. Can’t wait.
