Hi All

Just got back last night.....were there 3-22 Aug...
All feeling so depressed now....1 day your in Magic Kingdom, next day back into wet and cold Ireland.Just wanted to give quick review to you all and will get photos etc and do proper review over next week or so.

Pros

1.Free Dining was brillant.Even better than last year as knew what we were doing this year.Lots of meals left over last year as didn't make many ADR's.Had all our TS booked this year.

2.SSR was beautiful resort and would return for sure.Had 2 Studio booked for 8 of us and they were great.Mousekeeping were very good every day and need to be with 4 teenage girls in 1 studio. Was in the end of Paddocks facing Congress Park bus stop.

3.Disney Buses were great.Longest wait was about 10 mins.Maybe we were just lucky but always seem to be lots of buses coming and going.

4.Magical Express. Was nervous about it as first time using the service, but it was brillant and just getting off plane and not collecting bags. Was great service.Bags showed up about 3.5 hrs later in our room.

5.With free dining we had some really great meals.Cali Grill,Narcoossee's,Teppan Edo,Le Cellar to name but a few.We ate like Kings and Queens.Never eaten so much steak in my life.

6.Disney Customer Service.Have seen alot of moaning about service quality becoming poorer on the boards but we didn't see any of this throughout parks and resort.I though we got excellent service except in some restaurants.

7.MK fireworks.Summer Nightastic were super and then we also saw Wishes which returned on our last week.Nightastic were great with the castle effects but Wishes has been improved a bit with some new effects and is better than ever.We are Wishes fans through and through...

In general we had an amazing time and seems to get better each year we go even though kids are getting bigger.I know we all moan and give out about some things Disney do on these boards but when you look back it truely is the most magical place on earth.

Cons/Disappointments

1.We had problems with electric in room.Faulty breaker which was in room next door.Every evening we come back to room,no power.Maintenance come out and fix next morning as we not back to room till very late each evening, most times after midnight and they could not go into room next door that late to flick breaker switch. When fixed in morning everything ok till we come back that night and no power again. After 8 nights they discovered that whem Mousekeeper came in each day and used Hoover she was blowing breaker. They replaced breaker and assume she got new Hoover. But took 8 days of no electric at night.Good job we spent so little time in room..

2.Service in some restaurants was poor compared to previous years.I think fact that 18% was auto on bill didn't help as they were guaranteed tip and felt didn't need to work for it.Service in places such as The Wave,9 Dragons,Planet Hollywood,50's Prime Time etc was very poor.Had to keep asking for drink etc.

have lots more to review and discuss but stuck for time now so will catch up over next day or so and sort out some photo's and some food porn for you all.Need to try and catch up now in work after so long away from office.

Welcome back. This weather certainly doesn't help the post-disney blues though does it!!

Hello we were in the paddock from 1-22 august - what room number were you? Like you fell totally in love with saratoga springs - we went to quite a few disney hotels for our meals and apart from beach club no other hotel did we feel like staying there.

When I stop feeling like a zombie and get over my cold/sore throat and cough will do review, but totally agree free dining was brilliant - most of the family eat steak most nights.

The few meals we had outside disney which paid for - not impressed - one was dennys and one was IHOP - we did have a lovely meal at margaratille at universal.

Welcome back and thanks for your comments. :thumbsup2

Looking forward to seeing the full trip report and photo's when you get time. :goodvibes

Welcome back Irish Goofy! Great to hear you had a good time. I love the way you did your summarised trip report - brilliant! :thumbsup2 Really looking forward to hearing more once you have slept off the jetlag.

Eeyorefan, that strange spaced out feeling you have: expect it to last about a week :scared1:

I am really excited to hear all the reports now that all our DIS family are returning home. :cool1:

We stayed opposite you in Congress Park, and add us to another who fell in love with Saratoga Springs. If we stay onsite again it'll be there or maybe we will try out Old Key West as that also impressed us when we went to the Dis meet :)

Just hoping that there's 42% off and free dining for 2012 as there was this year and is next year as that I imagine will be the thing that gets us back to Florida :)

:goodvibes

We had 2 rooms, numbers were 6701 and 6712 which caused all the problems with electric.View from 6701 was of lake with fountain shooting upwards while 6712 was of the Congress Park bus stop and big baloon in Downtown Disney. It was really a beautiful resort and will stay there next year if we get similar deal to this year.

Only meal we paid for was when we stayed for 1 night in Hard Rock.We ate in Mythos in Islands of Adventure.Food was very good and not too expensive.

Congress Park was the pool that we used as near to us.Didn't use too much, only about 2/3 times but was really nice.Loved the whirlpool after a dip in pool. Our room looked directly at Congress Park bus stop.

The offers are about the same for next year already, just a slight increase in price - our SSR studio would be £16xx with dining for 14 nights whereas we paid £1400 this year. Dunno why I looked, I know we're not going next year but curiosity got the better of me :lmao:

Yes will be great to hear how everybody has got on and will build up the excitement for all those who are also going over next few weeks...Am trying to read all pages in Wayne's Live report and it is making me wish i was still there.I thought i saw him and Matt one night in Magic Kingdom but no sure as only ever saw photo of them.Am sure he thought " Who is that weirdo staring at us "

Am sure he thought " Who is that weirdo staring at us "

Nah, not Wayne. If he had any inkling it might be a fellow DISer he would have come over to say hello. Of course if it wasn't Wayne, the person was probably thinking: "Who is that weirdo staring at us?" :lmao:

Thats what i was afraid of....Had vision of lots of plain clothes security guys jumping on me and dragging me off in front of kids to some jail deep beneath the Magic Kingdom.:lmao::lmao:Might not have been a bad thing,at least i would still be in WDW.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

He's got a 6th sense has wayne, when we were apprehensively walking up to them at OKW, he knew who I was, even though I hadn't thought I was going to turn up!! :lmao:
