Just back from my trip to celebrate my Mom's 70th birthday! We were on the Disney dining plan--we had so much food! It was hard for my mom to eat that much food! She normally eats very healthy at home--dinner for her is a bowl of soup!
She's from the school of "don't waste food--you need to clean your plate, etc.
It was really hard for her to "waste" food! I was determined to take full advantage of the dining plan and I did!
Here's a quick list/review of where we ate:
Wolfgang Puck--Express: We ate here twice--once for dinner on our first night at WDW. Had the ceasar chicken sandwich and the rotissaire chicken w/garlic mashed potatoes. Both were really good. We went back for lunch and shared a flatbread (pizza) and ceasar salad--Really good! I would do this one again.
Crystal Palace: We ate here twice--once for breakfast on my mom's birthday. Great breakfast, great selections--great service and good character interaction! We really wanted to go again, so I made an ADR for Friday evening for dinner. Wasn't as impressed with the dinner selections. We also didn't get the best service. It was much more chaotic at the dinner seating--kids were allowed to run around and there seemed to be alot more noise--not nearly as relaxing as breakfast. I would do this one again for breakfast--not too sure I'd do it again at dinner.
CRT--Dinner: We went here for my mom's birthday dinner. Since we were on the dining plan, we had to use a total of 4 table service credits for this one meal. We both had Prime Rib--it was good--not great. The dessert was good. Our server was very nice. Eating in the castle was fun for my mom (she's never been to WDW before) If it weren't for it being a special occasion this trip--I would have skipped this one. Probably won't do this again in the future. Not worth 2 table service credits (no flames please, JMHO!
)
Cantina de San Angel: We shared some nachos here--pretty good. It was a nice place to sit and take a rest by the water.
Sci-Fi Dine: Love this place! Mom had a BBQ chicken sandwich, I had the steak sandwich--the steak was a bit tough. I should have ordered something else. My mom liked her sandwich. Since we were on the dining plan, we also ordered appetizers spinach dip and a salad--both were good. For dessert we tried the apple crisp and cheesecake--both were great! Our server was good--stayed in character the whole time. This is a fun place to eat. If we weren't on the dining plan, this would have been one our most expensive lunches! Definitely would do it again, we probably would just do dessert though.
Pizzafari: We shared a chicken ceaser salad and some breadsticks--really good! The chocolate cake was great too! We sat outside and it was nice. We would do this one again.
Le Cellier: I have eaten here before so I was really looking forward to this! Well, it didn't dissappoint! One of our best meals at WDW! My mom ordered the filet--I had the New York strip--both were great! I had the Cheddar Cheese soup and my mom had the beef barley soup--both were great. The pretzel and bread sticks were great too! Our server was very nice--she brought my mom a special birthday treat--very nice! We ate the sorbet for dessert--yummy! This is a must do for any future WDW trips for sure!
1900 Park Fare: Breakfast. This was good. We weren't really going for the character interaction--if we had, we probably would have been alittle dissappointed...Mary Poppins was signing autographs out front. The other characters didn't really make the rounds that well. The characters that were there: Alice, Pooh, Tigger, and the Mad Hatter. The food was great though--great selection! My mom liked the omelet station (she was able to get an egg beater omelet). I didn't really care for the room we were seated in--I felt alittle closed in (no windows)--but other than that, I would go back here again.
Mama Melrose: Fantasmic Dinner Package. My mom had the Chicken Parmasan (sp?) and I had the Sirloin steak. We had the four cheese flatbread and ceasar salad. All were pretty good. We shared a slice of hazelnut cheesecake and vanilla gelato--very good! Once again--too much food! If it weren't for the Fantasmic package we would have shared a meal here. I liked being able to show up at 6:30 for Fantasmic without having to wait in line! I would go back to Mama Melrose again--liked it better than Hollywood & Vine buffet that I did last time I was at WDW.
Peco Bill's: We had a great lunch here! I had a cheeseburger that I put mushrooms on from the "fixin's bar" and my mom had a chicken wrap--she said it was good--we could have easily shared a meal here, but we had to use up all of our counter service credits before we left!
Pepper Market: We didn't stay at CSR, but I really wanted to check it out for a future visit with my family. We decided to eat here for dinner and I'm glad we did. I had the prime rib and baked potato. My mom had a turkey sandwich. Both were good. Our server was very nice and helpful--we were still alittle unsure about the dining plan at this point! It was very crowded when were there--we went at the height of the dinner hour. The wait time for the mexican food station was about 25 minutes for the quesidillas!
It was nice to have so many choices at a resort food court.
Food court--French Quarter: We ate your basic quick breakfast here a couple of mornings. We had our share of beignets--they are so good! My mom tried the chicken gumbo soup and really liked it. I didn't really think the employees there really wanted to be there--most were very unfriendly and not helpful at all when we had some questions about the dining plan.
Well, so much for my "quick" review!
I'd be happy to answer any questions!
