Just Back - PO Riverside

Can some of you who have stayed there recently comment on the dining? I know there are two options, a food court and a table service. Any pros or cons?

Counter service is fantastic; as a first night the restaurant is good, but for the price, there is better. You can hop on the water taxi to DTD and get a lot better meals at a lot less cost.

However, the pecan pie is to die for and the food court is the best on property next to POP.

The kids loved the trundle bed and my 8 &1/2 yr old slept on it with no problem, and she is big for her age. I laid on it and thought it was uncomfortable (hard) but she loved it, so it made sleeping arrangements good

My 17 year old daughter chose to sleep on the trundle bed because her favorite movie is The Princess and the Frog and the bed had a picture of the alligator from the movie. She is 5' 6" and much too big for it but she is one of those people that turn into a 5 year old the second she steps foot on Disney property! LOL! She could not have been very comfy...but was so content being in the happiest place on earth!

We stayed in the Oak Manor building in January 2012. We loved the resort. The grounds were gorgeous, the food court was great, buses were great.

That's awesome! I tried one day to get my daughter to go but she just wanted to swim at the quiet pool. In a way it was a good thing at the time, because I know she would not have wanted to leave.:)

Funny you are considering a resort-only trip, we discussed the very same thing on our way home!

I did a solo, eight day, all resorts, no parks trip a few years ago.

I was lucky enough to snag a corner riverview king bed room to boot.

It was one of the best trips I ever had.

We leave in 45 days for our 2nd trip to POR!! :cool1:

Great place to stay and really glad you had a awesome experience!! :woohoo:

CS was pretty good and there was a wide variety of selections. TS was, to me, disappointing, but maybe because I spent a significant amount of time in New Orleans for work earlier in the year. The food is a fairly bland version of cajun/creole and I agree with PP that it was not inexpensive compared to other options. We also ate there first night -- second night we went to one of our all time favorites - Artist Point -- significantly better (twice the price though!). If it were up to me, I would do what PP suggested and take the boat to DTD and do TS at one of their better restaurants.

Glad you enjoyed it, we were there in January and loved it. The only thing WDW messed up on was the weather; two mornings in the 30's. I'll have to write them a nasty letter :lmao::rotfl2:

It's a beautiful resort, enjoyed walking the grounds and along the river to and from POFQ, the boat ride to DTD, and we did the horse drawn carriage and really enjoyed that, and the CM were great.

We LOVE POR! We prefer the Alligator Bayou section. It's really great there. Rooms are spotless, the staff mmbers are unbelievably kind, the main areas are pleasant as well as clean, the walk around the resort is absolutely beautiful & has a certain calm to it.

The food court is unbelievable. Special needs are met with a smile. Everything is soooooo good! The "choose your own pasta" is awesome! The fish & chips are goooood! The roast beef & turkey are also fantastic.
If you haven't tried it - do it!

You will LOVE this resort!

Reading all these posts is making me so excited for my stay in February! I was a little worried about crowded buses and long waits as well, but I am hoping being there in early Feb (2-8) will help, as it apparently is one of the less busy times! Also, is there only one hot tub? It would be nice to sit in the hot tub on a cool February night! :) I love this website!!

Don't get your hopes up on the jacuzzi. Last Feb, when we were there, it was really used as a heated kiddie pool...YUCK!

Yes. What is up with that? Everywhere else I've ever been the hot tubs are adults only. At Disney, they are full of kids trying to swim in them. It's super annoying. I don't let my kids in it, even though it is allowed.
