Just back-Ohana

I'm sort of in the middle regarding Ohana. We were there last Dec. and I had my DD, her DH and my 2 Grandaughters with me. The food was very good and our server was wonderful. My only problem was that there were sooooo many children that were participating in the games, that it was a bit overwhelming for my granddaughters. There was a lot of bigger kids pushing and shoving, that kind of thing.

We'll be there in two nights!!! Can't wait!!!

We've done Ohana during our last 3 trips. We love it there as well! Glad you enjoyed yourselves :goodvibes

We are trying it out on the 19th. 1st time to eat here and now very much looking forward to it. :earboy2:

we just got back and we at at ohanas too..it is at the polynesian resort...it was our first time..and it wont be our last...we LOVED IT!!! .....everything was good....oh i wanna go back to the world right now...i am so sad to be back home... :guilty:

:sunny: One of our most magical family memories of our trip was at O'hana's. My inlaws met us for dinner. We were seated directly in line with the castle. We watched the Wishes fireworks from there. The food was great. My DS loved the games. He said he always wants to eat at O'hana's when we are at DW. :sunny:

My mother and I ate at Ohana's after WDW opened back up following Hurricane Frances' onslaught. We stayed at AKL and the pickings had gotten mighty slim at Boma and Jiko after three days indoors (the kitchen staff at AKL deserved medals and a big fat raise!). So we were eager to eat just about anywhere else, as you can imagine. :Pinkbounc

And Ohana was just perfect. All the meats were tender and roasted to perfection, the salads and side items were tasty and fresh and the pineapple and caramel at the end were heavenly. The atmosphere was great fun.

Anyone who is on the fence about Ohana should definitely go. You'll have a good time and a great meal. I know I did! :teeth:

You will love it Penny Planner or at least I think/ hope you will! I have ate there so many times in the last two years that it feels like home. When I went to Disney in February I stayed at the Contemporary but ate at Ohanna's several times. One night my Family and I were watching the fireworks at MK near the train station and I decided to call W Dine on the pay phone (it's a free call) and try for a ressie to any sit down dinner. By luck Ohanna's had one open in 30 minutes. My wife didn't think we could make it , but we hopped on the boat to the Poly and just made it and had the best dinner and the best part of it that it was a spur of the moment idea. Sometimes those are best times when it's unexpected. Great food and great atmosphere the only draw back is the price.

'Ohana is not in my plans for my January trip, but I am starting to think it ought to be . . . Thanks for all the informative comments, everyone!

We've never been to O'Hana but we'd like to try it sometime. However, with our baby only 8 months, we're concerned that the place would be too overwhelming (in noise and activity) for him. Are there slow time periods where the place isn't packed? And how long does it take to eat dinner there? (I ask because I understand the food is brought to your table so the diners don't have as much control over when you get all the food you want, right?)

You do not have to worry about the baby being overwhelmed. It is nothing like Chef Mickeys or other loud restaurants. I think the other poster was referring to her grandchildren getting overtaken by large kids during the coconut races. The kids have small brooms and push coconuts around the room in a race. The only diners that are near these racing kids are the ones sitting on the aisle. Ask for a seat at the window or at least off the aisle and you will be fine. My now 5 y/o dd is very sensitive to loud noises and Ohana has never bothered her. It is her favorite restaurant and a must do every trip.

Love O'hanas too....going back in Jan. Food is good and plenty of it...The rice and little fried thingies (dumpling??) are yummy....as is the bread...can't wait to go back. And watch fireworks from the beach since we stayed at the Poly last time we love doing that....this time we are at the SSR and need some Poly fix ;-)

Great--pictures and everything! I'll watch for you! It'll just be 3 of us--DH, DD, and I. DD is 14 so I'm hoping she'll get into the hula hooping if other older kids are doing it!

We went for the first time in Nov. and it was great. The food was great and the kids have fun doing the hula hoop contest and the other games. We'll go back next time. Also we requested a table by the window when we got there(we had PS) and then got to watch the fireworks at the MK. The music was piped in so that was really nice.

We LOVED our dinner at Ohana's! Not to mention our server Chip was the absolute best! His service was impecable! By far he was the best server we had during our 8 day stay at WDW.

The food was good, and a great variety too. DH is a picky eater, and found the steak to be delicious and even ate the Turkey! (DH HATES turkey). Loved the peanut butter sauce! Enjoy ~
