Just back on Tuesday from the GF. Upgrade to Boca Chica lagoon side with view of the MK, space mountain and Cindy's castle through the trees. Saw Wishes from our balcony. Great location, hotel still rocks. Has aged well since our last visit in '99. Mousekeeping was efficient, no towel animals. CM's were friendly and courteous, Roberta at the front desk was amazing. All in all it was great eacape for DD's birthday celebration. Came back to room on DD's birthday "day" to find personally signed photos of Cindy for both girls along with a Happy Birthday from the GF chocolate bar for Amy. Mugs worked great, although Gasparilla's is a bit of a hike. 1900 Park Faire I feel was the best meals we ate although Ohana was a close second. Sci FI was good as always, Rose & Crown a disappointment, Nine Dragons was the same as usual, Cape May had changed their dessert bar a little, took away some favorites. Tomorrowland Noodle Station was an experience we won't repeat. Crowds seemed really heavy to us, compared to same exact time last year. Fast Passes were hard to come by. Small World looks great!

YAY!! So happy you had a great trip :) Glad you got an upgrade too!! Sorry to hear you didn't like the Noodle Station....DH and I are going in June and are planning to try it...hope it's better by then :)..my guess is the crowds were heavier this year because Easter was early.....

Robin,

That's great to hear. It seems like most of the news we hear/read about CM's is only the bad news, so it's always nice to hear the good. The family will be there for our anniversary in May (surprise for DW) and I love to hear all of the good things. Was the room upgrade done prior to arrival or did you ask at check-in?

The pictures for you DD's was a nice touch. Hopefully there will be some pixie dust still flying around in May.

Red Wings Fan, I had called the GF a few weeks ago when I found our statement from when we stayed there in '99. It had a room number but I was unsure of the actual building. After much shifting around I was transferred to Roger in room assignments. We talked for a few minutes (I'm southern, will talk to anyone ;)) and he confirmed that we had been in Big Pine Key, we had actually been upgraded that trip but didn't realize it was such a big thing then, the CM at check in had been apologetic that the room we were down for was unavailable, would we concider taking a dormer room if it had lagoon view? Anyway, Roger was very nice, told me that since DD had specifically asked for the GF for her birthday he'd see if he could work a little magic. Actually gave me his direct line (Of course, now I can't find it!) told me t ocall back about 5 days out, that's when they start assigning rooms. I called and spoke with another person, he was on break. She saw where he had noted MK view, said she'd do her best. At check in Roberta at the desk was wonderful. She handed the phone to Amy so that Goofy could wish her a happy birthday, then dialled back for Goofy to wish Kelly a magical stay. Noted our room assignment was Boca Chica, lagoon, then went to work at the keyboard. Asked if the girls would be willing to sleep on a pullout. told us to go look at another room in Boca Chica, it had a king and a pull out sofa (looked queensized to me). Said that if we liked if, it had a full MK view with the castle through the trees, the other one available was nice but not as direct a view. The room was great! Every restaurant that we went to for PS had noted Amy's birthday, she was treated to desserts at about 80% of our meals. Prince Charming presented her cupcake at the 1900 Park Faire Dinner. I can't say enough good about everyone we came in contact with. Sue Ellen, our Dreams TA, set some of this up when making the reservation, had the birthday noted. I suggest calling and trying to talk to someone in room assignments, explain it 's a surprise for your DW, hopefully you'll be dusted too! I'll continue to look for that elusive phone number.

What did you like so much about 1900 Park Faire? That's one of the few resort restaurants I haven't tried.

Welcome Back Robin!

Thanks for the report. Glad you had a great trip. We will be back at the GF in early July. Can't wait! :goodvibes

1900 Park Faire:
Breakfast with Mary Poppins in the lobby, Alice and the Mad Hatter, Pooh and Tigger. Scrambled eggs, made to order omlets, assorted fruits and cereals, pastries, cheese blintzes, southwestern eggs, fried cubed potatoes with steak, delicious ham, sausage links, bacon, mickey waffles, french toast with peaches (baked like a casserole), cream of wheat, bagels, toast, strawberry soup. Great character interaction, not as frentic as Chef Mickeys.

Dinner: Prime rib with various condiments, pasta bar with a red and white sanced pasta (ours was red primavera and alfredo with shrimp and asparagus), both were yummy! Salads, strawberry soup again, spring rolls, pork tenderloin stuffed with chorizo (I think) in a sauce (mango chutney I think), sweet potato mash (mashed red bliss potatoes with some sweet pottoes mashe in with them, surprisingly good!) other dishes I can't remmeber, kids bar with chicken fingers, mac & cheese, desserts like bananas foster, apple cobbler, other assorted desserts, soft serve ice cream station. Great character interaction with the mice (Suzy and Perla), Cinderella and Prince Charming. Fairy Godmother is in the lobby but we never saw her. All characters don't act rushed when they come to your table. Children are normally seated on the outside if at a banquette, so that they can be closer to the characters as they move about the room in controlled chaos. All are willing to have pictures made with your group. Prince Charming presented Amy with her birthdya cupcake and helped sing happy birthday to her. No napkin twirling like Ohana and Chef Mickeys.

Sounds wonderful! Oh no.....another restaurant to add to the list.

Thanks Robin,

I'm sure I'll be on the phone 4-5 days out with the room assignors (ers?). Thanks for the tip. No sense waiting until I get there. ;)
