Well, I think we might just be done with WDW for good......well, at least for 4 or 5 years any way.

Yes, it was Disney. Yes it was JAM PACKED with whatever you wanted to do or see or eat.

But:

I am so tired of RACING around from line to line for 12 to 14 hours per day in 90+ degrees and 100% humidity, while batting love bugs at every turn.

I need a vacation from my vacation......I hope I am not the only one who feels this way?:rolleyes1

My wife complained that our whole trip revolved around the ADRs for dining...and I have to agree...next time,. I think we would try staying off site and not dining on site.

Any way, Good luck with your trips.

I'm not sure how long you were there or how many times you've been, but there is something to be said for stopping, smelling the roses and realize, there is just too much to do. Pick your must do's for the trip and take your time. It makes it much more enjoyable, breaks also help.

Too many people rush around, staying in parks as long as they can, I think you lose the magic that way.

I felt the same way after our 6 days this August - then we went to Universal and had a blast! Next time - more days at Universal and maybe 1 or 2 at WDW.

I agree with this.
We never rush around, we just accept the fact that we just cannot do everything on each trip.
We also like to enjoy the resort as well, so we have down time factored into each day, and we don't have a plan. We don't spend endless hours in the parks either. It just wouldn't be as enjoyable to me.

Last trip we didn't even do the dining plan, just the quick service and it was such a free feeling!!!
I don't like schedules, hate them, I hate to plan a day around what time we have to be somewhere to eat, because more often than not we don't even want to eat at that particular time.
we did walk ins for sit down meals and it worked great, granted it was January, so it made a difference, but still, I don't think I will make adr's ever again :)

Due to work schedules, we only had 6 days....plus we arrived at 1:30pm the first day...left at 1:55pm the last day..so in effect only 4 1/2 days.

VERY VERY BUSY.

We tried to keep it casual, but obviously, not really easy to do with limited time.

Even so, I really think it is too easy to get OVERWHELMED by Disney. It is so crammed full of things.

We are taking a break from Disney. There are other places that deserve attention, and we will see, perhaps in 4 or 5 years, we may have forgotten the sensation of needing a vacation after our Disney vacation (like childbirth, I suppose).:confused3

Yes, both my wife and I agree that the stupid ADRs really impacted our trip.....so much so, that like you, I would NOT do the dining plan again!

We dont mind that the ADRs run the vacation because dining at the restaurants for us is all part of the experience. As for other stuff, if we get to see or ride we do, if there is no time, we dont sweat it. Its a vacation, its to be enjoyed, not suffer through.

Maybe you need to go in the fall when the weather is cooler. I know the heat/humidity can really be brutal. When it gets too hot, we stop in a shop and browse around to cool off.

I feel bad that you had such a bad experience this time around. Disney always makes us so happy! :)

I personally think anyone that feels this way should invest in a subscription to Tour Guide Mike and follow his advice. He has a great plan for having a relaxed Disney vacation. :wizard:

If you want a Relaxed Disney stay....then the only way to do it is 2 week stint. That way you can take your time, and see what you want.

I wouldn't say it was a "bad" experience, but it was very busy and overwhelming at times.

I enjoyed being there, and it is a great place.

That being said...there are millions of other destinations that are out there....and I think we will try some of those before we consider visting WDW again.:hippie:

WE usually go crazy commando as well. This time I have actually scheduled some down time. But...we are also going for 10 days so this left opportunity to do so. We are staying on site for 3 nights then off site for a week. We are also doing Sea World and Discovery Cove. We were going to do Universal too but we decided not to; that we wanted to enjoy time at the resort and just relaxing. I think we may even try to take mid day breaks this time. I don't think we have ever done that.;)

Sounds good. We would have gone for longer....10 days or more if schedules would have allowed.

I really would have liked a day at the beach, a day at sea world, a day of shopping the outlets, etc....

Guess my moral of the story is: try going for more than a week if possible (if you don't like going commando).
