Friday morning dawned bright and beautiful. I didn't walk on the deck this morning as I was just too excited about
Castaway Cay. I opened the door to the verandah expecting to see the pirate ship and what did I see....the dock!! I have to admit I was a bit disappointed as I really wanted our friends to see the beautiful expanse of beach. Oh well....there was no time to waste....we had hammocks to get!!! Lisa mentioned somewhat casually that she had another appointment with the DVC representative and would meet us on the island.
I rounded up the rest of the gang and it was off to the island. It took a bit longer than I expected to get everyone together and moving from point A to point B. No worries....we still got a great spot on the beach at Serenity Bay with 2 umbrellas, 6 loungers and a hammock next to us. It was in use by the time we got there, but the man who was in it mentioned that he would be leaving to head back to the ship as his wife was sick....so the hammock became ours!!!
By 10:00 many of us were already craving something cool and fruity. Luckily along came Bruno.....our best friend for the day. He was delightful and chatty and had visited our region of North Carolina and kept bringing drinks at regular intervals. I rented a floaty mat and hit the water. After a little while it was back to the chairs to dry off. Soon after Lisa arrived with big news and a bright red DVC hat for each of us. She stated proudly that we were now the proud owners of 160 DVC points at Saratoga Springs Resort. Just about that time Bruno came by again and we ordered more fruity drinks. Bruno had convinced me to try my Konk Kooler with Captain Morgan and it made this already wonderful drink even more wonderful. We all had one to celebrate Lisa's big announcement. We spent a lovely morning swimming, relaxing, talking, and just enjoying the beautiful beach. Soon it was time for lunch and we made our way to the BBQ area at Serenity Bay. Lunch was delicious but we quickly made our way back to our little camp for more relaxin'. By this time Bruno knew our order and all we had to do when he passed by was yell " Hey Bruno!!" and drinks would appear! At one point Robin and I were out in the water on our floaties and we waved at Bruno for more. He brought us some and even came out into the water up to his mid thigh level to bring them to us. Then he put his tray and receipt machine down , hiked up his shorts and scrunched down and posed for a picture. It was so much fun!!
As the afternoon wound down we made our way back to the other side of the island to do some shopping before Lisa, Karen, Nina and I were supposed to be at Marge's Barges for our parasailing appointment. We got there a bit early and just waited. We chatted with Randy from Wisconsin and he mentioned that he would have his camera and would be glad to take pictures for all of us. The excursion got started a bit late and by the time we got on the boat we were more than ready. All except Karen that is. She was still a bit nervous about being on a small boat. She did great!! She was the first one to fly when we finally got underway. Our parasailing adventure was over much to quickly and we made our way back to the ship. We had just enough time to shower and change before our last dinner with our servers.
We were eating in Parrot Cay and had a great dinner. True to form Csaba had our beverages all ready for us and he seemed surprised when we all ordered yet another fruity drink. When it came time for dessert we simply couldn't decided. Finally Don decided for us. He brought us two of every dessert....one for each end of the table. It was such a fun way to finish dinner. We were one of the last tables out of the dining room and we were all a bit silly as we left. When we got to the promenade lounge we couldn't help but get in the spirit of the music, and created a conga line through the lounge, laughing all the way. It was the perfect way to end the perfect day.
We all, sadly, made our way back to our cabins to finish packing. Lisa and I were done quickly as we had an appointment to meet Ramsay from DVC to sign all the paperwork. It was late as we made our way back to our cabin for our last night onboard.
Tomorrow--Port Canaveral or "Now it's time to say goodbye to all our company....."
