Here's my Le Cellier review - enjoy!
This would be our third trip to Le Cellier over the past two years. We always have high expectations for this restaurant and once again, it did not disappoint. A fantastic meal!
We got the greet and we were taken in right on time with no wait at all. The place was full and there was a great energy about it. We were seated against one of the back walls and our drink orders were immediately taken. They returned shortly with them and we studied the menu - it was really just for show since we had long before made up our minds what we wanted. Apps were cheese soup, Canadian cheese selection and the shrimp cocktail. The soup was a big hit with the kids, they dipped the fresh pretzel bread into it and enjoyed every bit of it. The shrimp in the cocktail were big and plump, with a nice little kick from the wasabi and a goodly crunch from the slaw.
I need to start a new paragraph for the cheese selection. If you are a cheese lover as I am, this will knock your freakin' socks off! From left to right on the plate - some kind of goat cheese, super tangy and smooth - oh dear - oh my - so good! A sharp Canadian cheddar covered in a sweet, fruity marmalade - yum, yum, yum. Finally an intense and creamy bleu cheese - amazingly rich and fabulous. I'm running out of adjectives and I haven't even gotten to the steak so let's just say it was a cheese lover's delight and leave it at that.
As entrees we had steak (duh!), specifically the 7 oz filets for the wife and kids and the 14 oz NY strip for me. Perfectly cooked all around, with a nice char on the outside of mine but still a nice medium-rare on the inside. The steaks were think and wonderful. Potato side dishes were nice, with the cream cheese mashed potatoes edging out my roasted Yukons by a nose.
For dessert we got whiskey cake and Raspberry sorbet - both were excellent, and the cold sorbet cooled us down enough to face the heat outside once again. The service was quick and efficient. I knocked a drinking glass off the table (wish I could blame it on the kids, but not this time) and they cleaned it up quick and with a smile.
