We just got back from our wonderful trip to WDW last night 8/13-8/20.

Boy, I need another vacation because I am wiped out!!

It was a great trip, but I would never go in August again-
TOO much RAIN (and not the quick showers everyone said, but hours upon hours of bubkets pouring and when it was a quick rain the parks were SO humid and sticky afterwards)
TOO HOT
TOO HUMID
TOO CROWDED!

I really thought going near the end of August the crowds wouldnt be as bad as earlier in the summer. But every park seemed crowded and the lines were long.

On the upside, the parks were open later so we were able to get on most rides we wanted. Everyone was firendly on the most part and the kids had a blast.
From now on we will go in October like we normally go, even if it means taking the kids out of school.
I am really bummed to be back, its going to take a while to adjust.
I will post my trip report soon.

Thank stinks that it was so hot and humid! But I'm glad your trip was fun. I hope ours is as great and September is not as hot, humid, and rainy!

Last year we went Aug 14th - 26th and found the heat almost unbearable. We are in Colorado so no humidity here. But I think we have forgotten a year later because we are going back in Sept.

Last year we didn't find the crowds busy at all but glad you got to do everything you had wanted.

I hope the weather shaped up. Last ear we had a few rains of drizzle and the regular afternoon thunderstorms but not sure I want to go in a few weeks and be walking through monsoon rains all week - YUCK !!

We were there August 8-18. This was our 4th year in a row going in August. The first three wre great-yeah it was hot, but it only rained once a day for a short time, and the crowds were almost non-exisitent. This year was totally different. TONS of rain, it was still hot, but the crowds-oy vay! I think it was the FTP that was sold. More people went who would not have gone. I think I am going to re-think August in the future.

Wow, Janice, sounds like hot and crowded. I have never been there in August.

Welcome home. And just wanted to let you know we are in the midst of planning a Fall Chicago DIS meet in the Oct/Nov time frame. Do stop by the meet board and check it out, hope to meet you.

We were there August 11-18 and didn't mind the weather or crowds especiaaly after the looooong winter and no spring that the northeast had. We always went early at rope drop and walked on all of our favorites by using fastpasses timed between less popular rides. Left parks at 1/2 then napped or swam during rains and heat of day. By 5 most rains were done and it cooled enough for another round of parks. It feels like you're getting double Disney when doing two pwrks in one day. Even when Ericka blew through and it rained all day (with ponchos), we were at MGM where everything is inside and the crowds were light so the weather actually was a benefit.

Another Colorado person here! The heat and humidity have me very anxious. I think the crowds will be gone but so will the longer hours.

Thanks for your update!

Hi Janice, we were there at the exact same time as you and agree about the heat, crowds and the rain. I mean, a tropical wave one day and a tornado warning another! After a while we got so used to it, we just donned those ponchos and started singing. Still had a wonderful, wonderful time, but would definitely consider a January or February trip next time!
Sadly that won't be for many years, though.....

We're just back as well (Aug 11-16)...and I have to agree about the crowds!! I'm from the NH seacoast, so humidity is our middle name up here, and I had really expected it to be hotter (temperature-wise) than it was, so the heat I was fine with. And I have to admit, it was cool to watch Miyuki under cover as the rain poured down in sheets just a few feet away!! Whoever commented about how disgustingly humid and sticky the parks got after the rain, I'm with ya there, bud...That was the only time I found it unbearable!!

BUT, the crowds, ugh...I felt like all I did was wait in line. I spent all day at the MK and only rode 5 rides, such a disappointment! And fastpasses, don't get me started on those! We walked up to test track at 10:30 one morning and the fastpass return time was between 4:30 and 5:30 that night!! Forget about park-hopping!

Anyway, I complain about crowds, but whatever, the vacation was still magical and I'm dying to go back :) The mouse just has a hold on me!

One more from COLORADO here and all three of us are going around the same time ..

Us Colorado folks will be the ones doing a Wicked Witch of the West impression while in line for an attraction...

"I'm melting...I'm melting..."

I've played golf here in 103degrees. But 90 in high humidity is a killer!

We've bought mister fans, water bottles, cool ties and plan on getting wet at any opportunity in the parks..

We were there August 3-11 and got poured
on almost every day -8/5 in the evening was
horrible -lightning close by, torrential rain. Ick!
The weather did clear up in time, though for
E ride night.
I found one interesting statistic on the
channel 98 resort weather feed though.
Normal rain for the month of August is about 2inches. Much less than June or July.. that's why we've gone down in August before.
By the 11th, WDW had recieved 10+ inches
of rain... MUCH worse than usual. There
evidently was a HUGE low pressure wave
holding over GA, that was messing up
weather for the entire eastern seaboard
that week. Sigh.

We noticed the crowds, but didn't have any
real problems with them -I thought it was not
near as busy as a couple of July's before
9/11. Epcot especially, I felt wasnt busy at all.

ANOTHER CO lady here! we aren't going when y'all are though :(
(not till sep 20th)

We need a CO meet/greet!

Sorry to hear the weather was so yucky! But glad you had fun anyway!
