We just got back from WDW. Overall the trip went well. We were waiting for Wishes on July 2 and happened to be standing next to a VIP tour guide. I was grilling him with things I'd wondered about and he mentioned the following that I'd never heard before. He said that all of the fireworks for WDW are manufactured on property. He said that all of the raw materials are shipped in and all of the fireworks themselves are assembled there. He said that they manufacture so many that they supply all of Disneyland too. Has anyone else heard this?

He also said that the 3 busiest days of the year at WDW are the 4th of July, NYE and Christmas and that Wishes costs $13,000 - $15,000 each night.

I heard about the cost of the fireworks before...well the fireworks in DLR, but I would assume they are about the same. I was also told that Honda sponsors the DLR fireworks and pays for them. Don't know about the manufacturing of them though...that is cool information you got though

I've been involved with event planning as a volunteer for several years. The average price for fireworks is about $1,000 per minute. So the price that you heard for Wishes sounds about right. As it's such a complex show, it probably would cost more to do just once. But figuring in quantity purchase of fireworks materials and the trained WDW staff to run the show, Wishes probably hits the average price mark.

I heard on one of the shows about Disney on the travel channel that the fireworks cost (I believe it was) $18,000 per night & that Disney sold enough Turkey Legs alone each day to pay for the fireworks.

I know my DD12 would be more than willing to try to eat enough Turkey legs to sponser the fireworks. She never stops talking about how good they were. Turkey legs were her only real requests for our next trip

Over the years I have heard that Illuminations is in the $50K range per night. And that is the regular, not the holiday version.

I find it hard to believe that the fireworks are assembled there. The danger and possibilty of an accident is incredible. Any accident on property would have to be reported and would be all over the news. I used to live near a firework assembly area its done in little huts scattered over acres to prevent large explosions.
