Well I can't believe am saying this....but I want my vacation BACK. My hubby and I went to HHI for some sun, sand and fun and we only had a little fun. Don't get me wrong, it was wonderful to spend quality time together but the weather was so yucky. It was cold, rainy and heavy rains most of the week. We only got to the beach for two hours on Sunday and we actually (I know this is hard for some people to hear so cover your ears) LEFT A DAY EARLY. I couldn't take another day of rain and cold weather.

We really did try our best to have a good time, but I couldn't take another day. I really felt bad for all the families there. Having kids and not being able to go swimming of just hanging out at the beach is torture for everyone.

I did enjoy the member gathering on Monday night. I met some really nice members (Hi to Disneymom & her mom Bonnie). I think they should do that more often or just having a member up date which I am note sure why they don't have them at HHI and only at the other resorts. But anyway, we did try some new restaurants which I would recommend. They are the Red Fish and Iron Wolf restaurants. Two great places both on the expensive side but well worth it. The Red Fish has an extensive wine bar for anyone interested.

Everyone at the resort was very helpful and nice. I did find out that I was not the only one checking out early due to the weather which I guess did make my decision a little easier to handle.

Well, now back to work and on to planning my next DVC vacation.

Have a Disney Day!

Poohgirl100, did I get to meet you at the member "Micks-ear" on monday night? I tried to get to everyone, but if I missed you, I'm sorry.

Yeah, it wasn't exactly the best weather for a HH vacation, but in a way, I kind of like that. It gave me the chance to do some other exploring around the island that I always SAY I'm going to do, but end up spending too much darned time at the pool or the beach. ;)

I want to go back.

NOW!

I have to say that HHI is just a little far north for Spring Break to be a sure thing there. I have gotten lucky, but I have also had weather like you had (I used to go a lot, free lodging! Grandparents owned a Villa in Sea Pines!)

I am sorry to hear that you had bad weather at HH.:(

I assume you used points to stay there. Did you lose your points when you left 1 day earlier? Thanks

I live in Charleston - 2 hours north of HH - and this has been without a doubt the worst spring I've experienced here. It really has been horrible. Went on my son's field trip yesterday for an easter egg hunt and everyone was frozen at the end. It's normally in the 70's and 80's everyday this time of year, so you "should" have had decent weathe. So there is hope for future spring breaks at HH...

I grew up in otherwise sunny South Carolina, and we used to vacation every year on its coast during spring break week. One year in particular, however, it was darn cold -- way darn cold -- it just seemed like the chill penetrated to the bone. I recall my folks trying to keep the atmosphere up by attempting to grill outside (despite the fact the grill kept going out). As we huddled around the grill for warmth, dancing from one foot to the other shivering in as many layers of spring-weight wear as we had packed for the week, we watched in awe as Canadian visitors strolled past us down to the beach in nothing but bathing suits and smiles!

I realized then that spring weather is fickle, always pack a jacket and a deck of cards (and that "cold" is a matter of regional perspective!) However, when the cold is accompanied by wet as well, it's a double raw deal, and I think you did the best you could to keep your spirits up! Sorry 'bout your weather and hopefully better HHI days ahead!

Hi Poohgirl and Dottie,

It was great meeting you both at the members get together. While the weather was less than stellar, I'm thankful that there are activities planned for us to keep us out of trouble (ex: shopping). I was tempted to leave early as well, but my girls would have none of it. They said that they had a great time. They learned how to juggle and got to meet Shadow.

I'm thinking of going to Vero for Spring Break next year. I really don't know anything about this resort, can anyone fill me in.

Again, my highlight of the trip was getting to meet my fellow members. And Poohgirl, remember that kooky lady in the hat? That was Cathy from Recreation!
