Just returned from eight wonderful days at BWV - here's where we ate:

Breakfast - Mostly were in the villa from our groceries or the BoardWalk Bakery (which did not disappoint!) Our final morning we had breakfast at Spoodles. I had the breakfast pizza which was out of this world. DH had the Italian, which he thought was good but he thought mine looked better. Kids had pancakes & bacon.

Lunch - Again, we mostly had snacks in the parks late morning and had late lunches in our room. One day we ate at Backlot Express at MGM and I had the worst cheeseburger I ever had in my life! It spelled like it had fallen on the charcoal and someone just picked it up and threw it on the bun! I was later told I should have complained but I did - 10-YO DS shared a chicken finger with me and 7 YO DS shared his french fries with me. DH had the chicken wrap which he enjoyed. After this I was a little leary of the fast food, so we ate most lunches in our room.

Dinner - we did much better here than lunch:

ESPN Club - We ate here Sunday night after arriving to catch some football. It was packed but we only waited about 15 minutes. Warning - portions here are humongous! We all split the nachos. DH had the Tuna Salad sandwich, which is made from a real tuna steak and not from a can. He really enjoyed it. I had Chicken on the Field, which is like a Caesar Salad with buffalo chicken strips and bleu cheese. It was excellent but I could only eat about 1/3 of it because it was huge. Older DS had chicken fingers (I think he ate them every day) and younger DS had a cheeseburger. They could not finish their fries. If you are tempted to get appetizers here, consider splitting an entree!

Chef Mickeys - Went here before MNSSHP on the 31st. As always, lots of fun and characters. DH was especially fond of the prime rib, and I was partial to the baked grouper and parmesan mashed potatoes. Kids stuck with pizza and chicken fingers (again). The salad bar had a cold crawfish (I think) salad that was surprisingly very good.

Cape May Clam Bake - This was our first time trying this buffet bfore our Illuminations Cruise. It was awesome if you like clams and mussels! 10 YO finally had some clams and corn on the cob with his chicken fingers. The ribs and the potatoes were good as well and the clam chowder was excellent too.

Le Cellier - This was the best meal we had on the entire trip! DH had the salmon appetizer (smoked salmon, baked salmon, and a salmon cake) and I had the cheese soup (incredible!). DH went for the Herb Crusted Prime Rib and I tried a special Surf & Turf with a 5 oz lobster tail and 5 oz filet minion. I was not sorry! Kids had the usual cheeseburgers and chicken fingers. Amazingly they prefered the sourdough breadsticks to the the pretzel bread. This was our most expensive meal at $125.00 (DH and I also had Molsons) but it was worth it.

Restaurant Marrakesh - First time eating here as well and we weren't sure what to expect. Well, it was not a mistake! DH and I started with the Combination appetizer which was Beef Bratwet (sp) rolls, Chicken Bastilla, and the salad. First bite was a little strange because of the powdered sugar they sprinkle the rolls with, but it was good when you got over the sugary taste. For dinner DH and I both got the Seafood Sampler, which was baked salmon (very good, not dry), some smallish shrimp in a tortilla-like edible shell, and Seafood Bastilla (which was my favorite part). Kids got baked chicken (no fingers here) and a hamburger (they did not have cheese). The atmosphere is fantastic, and we were seated right next to the musician and bellydancer. We would definately return.

I've rambled on here long enough - but if anyone has any questions feel free to ask!

Thanks for the great reviews. We have thought about eating at Marrakesh, so on our next trip we hope to eat here. One question, How large are the portions here. Thanks Ron...

Thanks for sharing your fantastic reviews!!!!! I can't wait to try Marrakesh in December!!!

Lisa D,

Thanks for the reviews. We have an Illuminations Cruise booked for our upcoming trip. We were thinking of Cape May also before the cruise. DH loves the clams and shrimp and the kids and I love it too. My question is what time did you make your PS for? Did you feel you had enough time to eat and still make it to the marina by 8:00pm? Thanks in advance for your help:D

I'm so glad you like Cape May's buffet! It is our favorite buffet at WDW. Thanks for the great reviews.

Maracessh is one of our Pss. How were the kids meals..any fries? By baked chicken do you mean on the bone? Thanks!

Thanks for the responses everyone!

Ron, the portions at Marrakesh were large. We did clean our plates since everything was so good, but we were stuffed. I guess it didn't help that it was our last night there and we did a lot of snacking that afternoon to finish off the food we had bought for the villa.

wdwnut61, Cape May is a great place to eat before the cruise and I would do it again in a heartbeat! My PS's were for 5:45 which was a little early. I did that so we'd have time to walk back and look at the Beach Club Villas. I'd say 6:00 to 6:15 would be perfect.

DisOrBust, our kids meals did come with french fries. The chicken was a boneless breast, and I think it may have been marinated. My son did finish it all, and he's pretty picky, so it must have been good.

Thanks for the great reviews! I can't wait ot get back to LeCellier. We booked right at the 120 day mark for my birthday dinner. Only a few weeks left.

How did DH like the herb-crusted prime rib? I was thinking of trying the filet this time?

Thanks

Hi Kelly-Ann,

My husband just reconfirmed that the herb-crusted prime rib was wonderful - and my filet was also delicious. Neither of us shared a bite with the other - you probably can't go wrong with either one. I think Le Cellier and Cape May Clam Bake are going to be must-do's on future trips. Enjoy!

Hi Lisa,

One more quick question regarding Cape May and the Illuminations Cruise. I was able to get reservations but the earliest they had was 6:20pm. I will try to check back even while we're down there to see if it can be moved up. My question is how long did it take you to walk from Cape May to the YC marina?
What time do you think we should leave Cape May to play it safe. I remember when I made the PS for the cruise, I think they said to arrive approximatley 15 minutes early. Thanks:D

We ate at Le Cellier this past May with our 2 daughters, ages 3 and 6, on our last night and loved it! Interestingly, this is now one of my oldest daughter's top favorite WDW restaurants. It is pricey, but worth it with the quality of food and service. Knowing that it is still excellent, this will be one of my most anticipated meals next year!

Thanks for the great review! We are eating at several of the same eateries in February.

Thanks!

I'm glad you enjoyed Restaurant Marrakesh, it is one of our family's favorite restaurant's and I'm always pleased when someone tries it and enjoys the food, ambience, etc.

Sorry it took me so long to respond to Tammy's question - our house was being painted and my computer was disconnected for about a week!

It takes about 5-10 minutes to get from the Cape May Cafe to the dock of the Yacht Club. I can also tell you that it took us less than an hour to eat at the buffet, since the only thing you really wait for are your beverages and your bill. You can always tell the server that you are going on the Illuminations cruise to make sure you don't wait long for your bill (we didn't). I think you'll have plenty of time. Another neat thing about this buffet is that your table is covered with paper, and they give the kids crayons to color all over your "tablecloth". You'll have a wonderful evening!

Lisa,

Thanks so much. We might even show up a little early in case we can be seated earlier. We ate there a couple of times on our last trip and we loved it. You're right about the paper on the tables. My youngest DD loves coloring during dinner. The lower buffet table is perfect for the little ones. DH can never get enough of the clams and shrimp;) I will take your advice and just mention to our server that we have a cruise planned just to be on the safe side.

This is our first time doing the Illiminations Cruise and we are really looking forward to it. Last year we stayed at the BWI and there were many nights we would walk over to the WS and stand on the bridge in France to watch the show. We never had a problem finding a spot last minute. Of course it was late Oct. and not as crowded. It was very easy just to walk back to our resort. This year we'll be at CR so I'm thinking we'll go to the YC and take a cab back. Thank you again.

Tammy:D
