We just arrived home today from a wonderful week at WDW. Crowds were a bit heavy, but we had perfect weather and a great time. We stayed at BCV and ate breatfast every moring in our room. Here are the restaurants:

Sci- Fi Drive In --We were a party of 8 and had to wait about 20 minutes for our cars. I was a bit concerned about this place because of all the reviews I read here on the boards. I had the steak sandwich and it was WONDERFUL! I ate every bite....well, except for the bites my DH stole off my plate. DH had soup and salad and said it was very good. MIL had the turkey sandwich and said it was bad. Kids had chicken fingers and fries....they did not look like anything special. 3yo DS loved the movies. Grade: B

Princess Storybook Dinner - Norway- I think this meal was the most disappointing to us. Ariel was in the lobby posing for pics. and was very nice and attentive. Sleeping Beauty and Belle (blue dress) were in the restaurant and were wonderful with the kids....very attentive and came back to our table several times. Mulan and Jasmine were also there, but hardly said hello and then they were gone. We did not have a problem with the food selection, but with the quality. I had the pasta and it was mushy, barely warm and looked as if it had been sitting under a a heat lamp for an hour. DH had the salmon and it was way overcooked. SIL and MIL had pasta also and they were disappointed. Grade: C

Cinderella's Royal Table Lunch- The highlight of our meals!! We thought it was a better value than Princess Storybook. We received 3 photo packages included with the price at CRT and at Princess Storybook they tried to sell us one for $31.99. Cinderella was in the lobby and was wonderful. Belle, Snow WHite, Fairy Godmother and Sleeping Beauty were upstairs. Most were very attentive to our children. I had the Major Domo (because of all the wonderul thing I have read about it here) and it was wonderful. DH had the salmon again and said it was great. MIL, FIL, SIL and BIL all loved their meals as well. The blueberry dessert was so yummy!! The service was outstanding....our 3yo son had a meltdown and did not want to take a picture with Cindy and the character handler laid on the floor with him until he perked up...and then came upstairs twice to check on him!!!!! Grade: A

Whispering Canyon Cafe Dinner- Lots of fun!!!! 5yo DD LOVED the horse races. Most at our table had the all you can eat skillet and thought it was OK. SIL had the steak and said it was the best she'd eaten. MIL had the chicken and said it was fine. The desserts were good....especially the banana thing (sorry, can't remember what it was called). Grade: B+

Boma Dinner- We thought this was good, but not great. DH doens't like buffets very much. They had lots of interesting things and many were quite good. I tried the watermelon rind salad and thought it was good (it has a lot of ginger in it). I also liked the peanut rice and the mushroom soup. Desserts were very good....we really liked the zebra domes and the passion fruit cup. Grade: B

O'hana Dinner- The potatos were wonderful!! I practically ate an entire plate of them!! I thought the meat was ok.... a little tough and dry. The best part of the meal was watching how much fun our 5yo DD was having during the hula lesson, the marching parade and the coconut broom races! She had a blast. The atmosphere, setting and view were great and the food was average. Grade: B

Garden Grill Lunch- This was our DS 3rd birthday!! The food was great. Once again, I ate a ton of the cheesy potatoes!! They were just so good!! I also really enjoyed the flank steak....very flavorful. MIL loved the veggies....said they were very fresh and tasty. Kids enjoyed the mac and cheese and the chicken tenders. Mickey and friends brought out a complimentary birthday cake for DS. a brownie and banana dessert were also brought to the table. Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale all came my our table several times....they were great with the kids. This is one of my favorite places to eat! Grade: A

Le Cellier Dinner- I had the mushroom filet and it was very good!! My favorite thing about the dinner was the chedder cheese soup :cheer2: . It was delicious. DH had the salmon again and said it was perfect....he really liked the sausage slaw that was served with it. MIL had the chicken with cream cheese mashed potatoes and said it was great. The rest of our party had steaks and all enjoyed them very much. They brought our son a beautiful birthday dessert at the end of our meal. Grade: A

I'm glad we tried all of these restaurants. However, on our next trip I will not make as many ADRs (we had at least one, and sometimes 2 each day). We were always having to watch the clock to make sure we gave ourselves plenty of time to get to the restaurants on time. It kind of cut into the fun of the day. I was concerned that if I did not make ressies we would not be able to eat......I think next time I will have a bit more counter service or eat a few meals back in the room.

Thanks for reading!

Thanks for the reviews. We will be trying Garden Grill on our trip and keep hearing wonderful things. :thumbsup2

Thanks for posting 1princessesmom!

I especially like the info about Cindy's handler and your son. Stuff like that makes Disney hard to beat! :goodvibes

Glad you enjoyed the castle experience. It sure is a steep price so I'm glad it was a memorable dinner.

We like to have one ADR a day and it is almost always for dinner. I can imagine that two could definitely keep you checking your watch!

Thanks again,
--penny

Glad to hear about CRT Lunch...I just booked this today for my dd's b-day princess: ...what exactly is the picture package you received and is it included automatically in the price...even if we are on the dining plan? :confused3

We were not on the dining plan (DVC doesn't have it until APril :confused3 ), but I believe you will still receive one complimentary photo package for every 4 people in your party. Cinderella takes pictures with you in the lobby, and they are delivered to your table during the meal. Have fun!!

Great Reviews. We are heading to the Princess breakfast in Norway for breakfast. I hope we enjoy it.

We will be trying the Princess Norway breakfast as well. Let me know what you think!

Great reviews, we have had similar experiences at all of your places except Whispering Canyon and Garden Grill, haven't tried those yet. I totally understand about too many adr's! We had at least one, usually two for our trip with my in laws in January. In addition to our higher than usual food cost, I felt like all we did was head to the next eatery. I was so sick of eating and rushing to get to the next restaurant it got old to say the least! And I didn't get a hot dog at Casey's for the first time ever because I didn't have the time to eat one!

Enjoyed reading your reviews ~ Thanx for posting.

Thanks for the reviews! I had especially been wondering about Norway. Also glad to hear you liked Garden Grill, that's always been my personal favorite character meal! Now they just have to bring back the catfish, they didn't have it last time we were there . . . .

Thanks for the reviews! I will be going to Sci-Fi and am also a little nervous about the bad reviews - I am glad to hear it was good.

They did have the catfish!!!! It was good, but not as good as the flank steak, IMHO!!!

Thanks for the reviews. We also ate at Sci Fi & le Cellier this past December and really enjoyed ourselves. The food was very good both places. I agree with you about the chedder cheese soup it is so good. i really enjoyed dunking the pretzel breadsticks in it ;)

Thanks so much for the reviews! We're eating at many of the same places when we go in June (PSB - breakfast, CRT - lunch, Garden Grill - lunch, WCC - dinner).

Regarding PSB dinner, we had dinner there last May & felt the same way - there was nothing really wrong w/ the food selections, we just didn't think the food was prepared well at all. My pasta was sticky & clumpy w/ dried out marinara sauce too - exactly as if it'd been sitting under a heat lamp too long, and DH's cod was just barely lukewarm.

I have a couple of questions about CRT since we also have a lunch scheduled there - -

Did your children receive a wand & a sword? Also, what did your children have for their meals? And for their desserts? I know the adult dessert is the blueberry buckle dessert, but I was hoping that the children received something different. On the dinner menu, it has a "crown dessert" for the kids (which is, I think, ice cream w/ a chocolate crown), and I hoping it's the same for lunch.

Thanks!! :)

Our 5yo DD received a wand and our son (who turned 3 the next day so we did not have to pay for him) received a sword. They also each received light up stars. Both children had buttered penne pasta (DD could have orderd from the children's menu but she wanted the pasta....probably b/c little brother was having it). Both children received vanilla ice cream with sprinkles and a chocolate crown for dessert.....they even put a birthday candle in DS's. It was a great meal!

Wow - my DH wants a sword too! :)
Thanks for the reviews...we have a CRT lunch planned in May - can't wait!

Thanks so much!! I'm so excited about this meal!! At first, after the prices increased & it went from 1 TS to 2 TS credits, I was disappointed & apprehensive about scheduling an ADR for CRT, but I think my children will really enjoy all the "extras"! pixiedust: Even though the wands, swords, & wishing stars aren't "expensive" souveniers, it sounds like they are trying to compensate in "little" ways for the price increase - in addition to the picture package.

One more question - Were you pleased w/ the pics in your picture package?

I was just about to cancel CRT lunch and depend on PSB be good until i read your review. Guess we'll have to do both to increase chances of a great princess meal.

Mickey did not actually carry the cake......the waitress did, but Mickey was marching right behind her. Mickey, pluto and chip all stayed around our table while we sang Happy Birthday (I'm not sure if this is done all the time...maybe we just got lucky!). The cake was a double layer white cake that could feed about 8 people (guessing). It had a white Mickey disc on top that said either Happy BIrthday or Congratulations (I can't remember)...it was not personalized with his name. I did not have to pre-order. I had called the restaurant several weeks ago and they said just tell them at check-in that we would like a birthday cake. THere was no charge. I can send you a photo if you like (PM me!). The food is served family-style, so I believe they just keep the cakes around as one of the desserts for the table. We celebrated DS's first birthday here 2 years ago. WE liked it so much, we went back for his 3rd birthday. Hope you have a MAGICal time!!!!!
