We're just back from our trip (3/6 - 3/10) and had a great stay at Port Orleans Riverside. We had never stayed there before and we very happy with the room and the resort. We have stayed at both moderates and deluxes and thought POR was one of the best we have stayed at so far.

We requested a room in the mansion section and were placed in Magnolia, room 8776. This was a great location as it was a very short walk to the main pool and to the food court. The room looked like it was refurbished very recently as every thing looked brand new.

We thought crowds were pretty low and were able to walk on most things at MK, but we were there at opening. Same thing for MGM and AK - we got there for the opening and walked on everything we wanted to do. We went to Epcot for an afternoon and even Mission Space had no wait. We did the EMH at MK and once again the crowds were low and the lines were short.

We did character meals at Crystal Palace and Breakfastasaurus for breakfast and did Chef Mickey's for dinner one night. Food was pretty good - especially the breakfast - and the character interaction was the best we have ever had. The characters came around so often that my 1 year old wouldn't even look up from his food after awhile. :rotfl: We did lunch at San Angel Inn in Mexico and really enjoyed the atmosphere there - it is our favorite place to eat in Epcot.

The weather was sunny and in the low 70s - we managed to get to the pool 3 days of the trip. We had one cold rainy day, but turned that into our outlet shopping day, so no harm done.

We also stayed in South Florida, near Ft. Lauderdale from 2/27 - 3/6 and had a great time there too, btw. A little time at the beach and a little time in Disney - a nice way to spend a vacation :)

Feel free to respond with any questions.

Hi,

Glad you had a good time!!!!

Allison

Thank you for the information. It sounds like we should swith our reservations from CBR to POR. The short walks to pool and food court sound good. What do you think?

Thanks for the review, I love hearing everything on POR. We have reservations there in May for 8 nights and we can't wait to try it!!! :goodvibes

Susie51 -

FYI - we stayed at CBR during our previous trip (Sept 04) and really enjoyed it, but the fact that everything is spread out is a downside. CBR is a wonderful resort and we would definitely stay there again. I would not try to talk you at of it. But if all the walking might turn you off, then POR is a good choice.

This is our favorite resort (along with POFQ).
I hope you got to see Bob "The Piano Man" Jackson! He's a riot! :rotfl2:

Love POR!!

We stayed there last time and were looking to stay again in Feb. 06. The only problem now is we were in AB and now I (not the rest of the family) want to try the mansions. They are completely happy with AB.

Does anyone have pics of the refurbished rooms at AB?

:wizard: Wishing everyone a magical day! :wizard:

HookedOnDiz, thanks for your post. We will be @ POR in 14 days :Pinkbounc

The Magnolia mansions are what we requested. I'm glad to hear that they have just been redone and the locations of this building is ideal for us. I love staying at new or newly redone resorts/rooms. This past Nov. we were @ CSR and those rooms had been redone and the beds were wonderful. Also the additions of refrigerators in the room is great!

We stayed @ POR AB, June of 03. At this time half of the resort was closed, including the food court, and the room we stayed in was in need of a redo. Are stay was ok because of this. We are giving the POR another chance because of the redo.

Since we were there when only half was open I was wondering how about the buses. Are they crowded? Do they always pick-up and drop-off at POFQ 1st? And which bus stop is did you use most?

There is a bus stop right in front of Magnolia, but we had a rental car so I can't speak as to how crowded they are or what the route is.
